I also haven’t been sleeping particularly well at our temporary apartment, so I think my body was more than ready for a solid night’s sleep. It felt fantastic and I woke up this morning feeling more refreshed than I have in a while.
I knew I wanted to sneak in a quick workout before things start to pick up speed today, so I quickly ate a small apple on my way to the hotel gym.
Is this not one of the most amazing hotel gyms you’ve ever seen?
No wonder this is the official hotel of IDEA World! They clearly know fitness people appreciate a good hotel gym!
My workout wasn’t anything crazy this morning since I know enough to assume I’ll be taking my body through its fair share of workouts over the course of the next four days. I kept thing simple with some low-impact cardio on the elliptical (30 minutes) before I hit up the weights for a quick upper body workout that looked exactly like this one I shared months ago:
I was in and out of the gym in about an hour.
In the lobby of our hotel is a full-service Starbucks which obviously meant Starbucks became by breakfast for the second day in a row.
I ordered another spinach, feta and egg white wrap with an orange and a cinnamon dulce cappuccino. I know I’ve raved about cinnamon dulce cappuccinos on the blog before, but if you love cappuccinos, you must try it! I have two of my Pure Barre friends hooked on it now! So delicious.
My plans for the rest of the day include showering (my hair is on another level of greasy right now), picking up my IDEA packet at the convention center and a low-key night with some fabulous blogging friends in my hotel room! Katy is staying with me tonight and since most people are traveling today, we decided a laid back night at the hotel with wine and takeout would be the perfect way to relax and unwind a bit before the madness of IDEA begins early tomorrow morning. I’m totally craving Thai right now, so if you have a great recommendation for an awesome Thai restaurant located near the convention center that offers takeout, please let me know. Also, I’m LOVING your restaurant recs on my last post and will be using them for Friday and/or Saturday night’s dinner plans. (Dying to try 118 Degrees!) Thank you!!
Have a great Wednesday!
I hate hotel beds for the same reason you love them. I have a bad back and I need firm beds. Hotel beds are so soft and squishy that my back kills me for 2-3 days after I get back into my own bed.
Oh man for me it’s the softer and fluffier the better! Ryan also likes firm beds so finding a mattress we both liked was a bit of a challenge!
Personally, I am hooked on those spinach, feta, egg while wraps. I had one for the first time a few months ago (they were out of everything else) and was so surprised because I’m very picky about spinach. Super delicious. I’m a fan of hotel beds too.
I work at Life Fitness and its always nice to see our equipment looking so spiffy in a hotel 🙂
Also, the spinach and feta wraps…yum!
I see Life Fitness equipment everywhere!! Will you guys be at IDEA, too??
I don’t believe we are! Sounds like a great event though.
Just a random video I found..but I feel like you would love this! Its our circuit workout style equipment. great for group workouts. Have you seen this one yet?

That gym DOES look awesome! I love when hotels have great fitness facilities (or are near running paths). I was at a wedding in Vegas last month, and the hotel we were staying at wanted to charge us a fee to use its gym – lame sauce.
I love then when a hotel has a full-service Starbucks. Lately my work trips only have had the ones that sell coffee and pastries, no warm goodies! I think its the sun dried tomatoes in the wrap that makes me not like them so much. Hotel curtains are a secret bonus about a hotel stay, that most don’t even realize! Have fun at the conference, sounds like it’s going to be fun! xoxo, ganeeban
Great arm workout. I have been wanting to tone up! 🙂
I always have high expectations of hotel beds. Nothing makes me more sad than a hard as a rock hotel room bed. That’s no fun!
I vote YES on the Thai food. Can’t wait to see youuu! (party dance!) 🙂
Ohhhhh sweet hotel gym!! That was very smart of IDEA to have it hosted right there where there’s a great gym in the hotel 🙂
I love harder mattresses, so I usually don’t loooove hotel beds, but if I bring my own pillow, then I’m golden!
Enjoy your Thai food!
I totally agree with you on hotel beds being comfy. They always seem to be so soft & it is so easy to sleep well on them 🙂
Ahhhhh good sleep is the BEST. Especially when you are changing time zones and get some bonus hours! Welcome to Cali, by the way:)
I love when my day’s plans include showering! Then it’s easy to cross at least one thing off the list… haha!
yes, hotel beds are the best! i’m an early bird, but i always sleep in (by my standards) when i spend the night in a hotel.
thai takeout and wine sounds like the perfect combo. 🙂 enjoy your time in california!
I tend to have spurts where I travel for work a lot, and if I’m staying in the same city week after week I’ll hotel hop until I find one that I love. Big for me are availability of breakfast (either free or something like a Starbucks, a good fitness center, comfy bed, and close good restaurants that are easy for take out or delivery. My favorite hotel was the Loews in Atlanta. It’s actually an exhale spa location and residents of Atlanta belong to the hotel gym. They have spin and various exhale classes, so I would treat myself to one fitness class a week! It was glorious!!
Hotel beds are amazing, black out curtains are even better!
Haha, interesting title post. Or was it just me that thought it was full of innuendo?
That hotel gym looks like a legit gym. Sleeping in always feels good.
I think I have been to the same hotel you are staying at! I was there last year for a conference. The gym looks familiar. 🙂
I was totally going to slack after my run today but I can definitely manage a few of those moves, these arms have gotten so lazy lately and it shows!
Hotel beds are the best, I don’t know what it is but I love curling up under all of those layers of comforters and being surrounded by 12 pillows. Plus, black out shades are just a wonderful gift from heaven to the sleep deprived.
Have fun at the conference!
I just did that arm workout last night before RPM, it’s a good one! Definitely feeling it today 🙂
I love hotel beds too, they’re so big and comfy and I always get an excellent night’s sleep! Enjoy your stay and your conference 🙂 PS, I’m so glad I stumbled upon this blog, I absolutely love your updates, tips and workouts!
Based on your rave reviews, I tried a cinnamon dolce frappuccino this morning. YUM!!! Why have I been drinking mochas for so long!? Only drink that could possibly top them is a pumpkin spice latte.
Wow, that gym looks amazing! I can totally relate to you with the time difference thing. I live on the west coast but whenever I travel to Hawaii, I’m usually wide awake around 6am Hawaiian time. I usually get a vanilla cappuccino at Starbucks but will try the cinnamon dolce one next time!
Is it pathetic that your hotel gym is NICER than the gym I pay a membership to? Yes? I agree …. Enjoy your week o’ fun & fitness! 🙂
loooove hotel beds. best sleep ever.
Wow, that is some gym!! Sounds like the perfect night – enjoy!! 🙂
That gym is amazing! Can’t wait to hear all about the conference 🙂
Speaking of hotel beds, I am goin got NIAGRA FALLS THIS WEEKEND for a two night stay! Yayyy!! I love soft hotel beds.
I love hotel beds, hotel black out curtains, and that gym. We stayed there when we were in Anaheim last year. I looooooved it! Such a wonderful hotel gym!
Black-out curtains are life changing! They have totally improved my sleep.
I found this workout on your upper body workout roundup and have done it a few times since!! Such a great, quick arm workout–please post more!
I love me some big, plush hotel beds! One day my bed at home will be just as perfect as hotel beds.
That gym looks awesome!
I love a good hotel gym! Nothing is more disappointing than when you find out the hotel “fitness center” is nothing more than a rickety treadmill and a bowflex. The nicest one I’ve ever used was at a Four Seasons in Sydney, Australia. Almost a complete weight room and I was in love.
The cinnamon dolce is so. good. I love it! I feel like it’s one of Starbucks’s little known secrets, except now the cat’s out of the bag. But it’s okay. I don’t mind sharing.
Have so much fun at the conference! It sounds like it’s going to be amazing!
I love when hotels have nice gyms on site. It’s definitely a huge perk for me! And I usually love the pillows at hotels so much. I always wish I could stash one in my suitcase and bring it home with me!
Yup, that gym looks amazing!!! I would kill to sleep in…if anyone wants to borrow my toddler for a morning?? haha. Have a great time with other bloggers and at the conference!
I LOVE books! what is so funny is I used to HATE reading and now it is just so relaxing! In our alumnae book club we have read 2 books that i just couldn’t put down, even though they are not typical reads for me.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and the Under the Never Sky series…AMAZING
oops on wrong post!
I traveled for 10 years as a consultant. There is nothing better than my own bed!
I think blogfest looks like a BLAST. I am going to live vicariously through you 🙂 How long had you been blogging before you attended your first blog conference? I’m thinking about going to a local Arkansas one here!
That’s the most impressive hotel gym I’ve seen!
I feel like such a creeper, I know exactly where you are! (I’m not, promise!) I LOVE that fitness center! The Hilton at the Convention Center also has a great gym and they have some pretty awesome classes as well. Would definitely recommend checking it out 🙂
Not sure if you ended up finding a thai place, but Tangerine Thai (just down Katella) is pretty good — their Papaya Salad and red curry are excellent and they have great lunch specials as well! Be sure to swing by Joe’s Italian Ice (it’s right across the street) for a sweet treat — you won’t regret it!
My husband LOVES hotels solely for the black out shades! He can’t sleep once he sees the light, ha.
Sounds like an amazing weekend up ahead! I can’t wait to read about it all!!!
