Good morning and happy Wednesday! I hope your morning is trucking along smoothly so far.
Workout + Breakfast
My day kicked off with a 6 a.m. Pure Barre workout with my friend Lindsey, followed immediately by an impromptu coffee date. Lindsey and I met at Pure Barre a few weeks ago and she’s quickly becoming a good friend of mine. Today I learned that her sister has a food blog called Sugar Dish Me and I got a little sidetracked while typing up this morning’s post as I drooled over her delicious-looking recipes. Her healthy dill chicken salad is now on my “must make” list!
After my coffee date with Lindsey (I ordered a vanilla latte), I snacked on a chocolate chip brownie Larabar my way home.
I stocked up on these bars after finding them on sale at TJMaxx before I left for California last week. At first I didn’t understand everyone’s obsession with Larabars but then I tried the bars that had a chocolate or peanut butter base and was officially converted into a Larabar fan. Apparently the fruity Larabars aren’t really my thing, but if you throw some cocoa powder or peanut butter into the mix, I can’t get enough of them.
Once I made it home, I peeled a fresh orange to enjoy while typing up this blog post.
Now it’s time for Sadie’s morning walk before snack + computer time. I have a feeling this breakfast won’t hold me over for too long. See ya after lunch!
P.S. For those who asked about the details from this outfit…
- Crop tank with lace back: Frenchi ($10; via Nordstrom Rack)
- Yellow lace bra crop top: Free People ($19 via Nordstrom Rack, available in more colors on FreePeople.com)
- High-waisted maxi skirt: Soprano ($18 via Nordstrom Rack – So sorry I couldn’t find it online but the black/white version of this one is similar)
Question of the Morning
- What is one snack food you feel like everyone loves that you just don’t enjoy?
My initial answer to this question was SoyJoy bars… but I feel like they aren’t exactly loved by most. Bleh.

I do not eat Larabars too often but when I do I love the chocolate flavors too. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my favorite. Cute outfit!
Julie says
I love that one, too!
Nicole @ Squash on Squash says
Dried fruit and raisins!! I like dried mango, but other than that, candied pineapple/kiwi or any other dried fruit just isn’t quite my thing. It’s okay, but I’d just rather it be fresh!
Also those are sweet deals on your outfit pieces!

Hey Julie,
I’ve been a long time reader of your blog. I saw that you recently moved to Charlotte and that you are an animal lover. This Sunday, August 24th, my former employer,Great Harvest Charlotte, is hosting their annual Animal Kneads Day with the CMPD Animal Care and Control. Loaves of bread are $10 (there might be other delicious treats for purchase as well). 100% of the proceeds goes to the spay/neuter program. Its from 10am-5pm at their Rea Road location (the Shops and Piper Glen). If you could pass it along and/or check it out its for a great cause!
Julie says
I’ll definitely check it out!! Thanks for passing this along, Laura!

Yum, that Lara Bar sounds great! I also like Pure Bar bars in the chocolate brownie — sorta similar so you might like it!

Mmm I love Larabars! I used to only like the chocolate varieties but have recently come around to the fruity ones too. Have you tried the Uber bars? Not as clean of an ingredient list, but oh my goodness they are good! Love that outfit, your abs look rocking!
Heather @ Sugar Dish Me says
Thank you so much for the mention!!! Lindsey is the best. And I hope you’ll try the chicken salad! It’s been a refrigerator staple around here lately. I am totally enjoying your site! Thanks again! 🙂

Ohh love me some peanut butter or chocolate LaraBars. I used to get a mix of the peanut butter chocolate chip, chocolate and coconut at Costco but then got sick of them! I love them for a go to pre-workout breakfast when it’s early morning!
I’d have to say anything coconut I can get on board with but a lot of people hate coconut..weiiirdos! lol..
RunEatRepeat says
I put them in the microwave or crumble Larabars on yogurt. YUM!!!!
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
I’ve never tried Larabars (pricey!), but I’m definitely curious as to how they taste since everyone hypes about them! I’ve never tried Quest bars either.
I just check out Sugar Dish Me and subscribed! Her food looks amazing.

Oatmeal, not really a snack food but still…I just can’t!

Potato chips. I feel like everyone is addicted and I could easily pass them by.
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
Yes! I can’t stand the fruity lara bars, but a little PB and cocoa powder go a long way!
Brianna says
Oh heyyyyyyy ABS!!!!!!!! What are your favorite ab exercises?!
Ashley says
Regular bananas. Can’t get into em. But I LOVE frozen bananas. Is that weird?

I am not such a fan of kale chips. However, I love kale salad and enjoy it in soup, smoothies, and pasta.
I prefer the fruit flavored Larabars. Lara Uber bars are really good, especially coconut macaroon.
I really like the black and white dress or top and skirt combo on the girl next to you. Any idea where she got it?
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
Love that outfit! Looks like I need to shop at Nordstrom Rack!
Kim says
Kale. Sorry-I’m-not-sorry, but kale. Don’t care if it’s in chip form. Do not like it sauteed. Do not like it on a plane, do not like it on a train. If there is ever kale listed in something, I always swap it out for spinach. That’s just how I do.

Love Larabars. Just got some on clearance at Publix. Peanit butter chocolate and coconut cream are my favs. I like the choc brownie but find it drier than the others. Not a fan of the fruit ones exept for blueberry muffin. Give it a try if you haven’t
