Hello from Florida! Yes, I am back in Florida again. Ryan and I left for the Sunshine State last night. We’ll be in Orlando all weekend for a wedding (celebrating Cherayne and Matt!) and I am thrilled to have a few days back in my old stomping grounds with some of my best girlfriends from college. It will be a blast!
A weekend with old friends is obviously what I am loving most this week, but, in keeping with our Things I’m Loving Friday tradition, below you will find a few more things that are making me smile! As always, please jump in and share what you’re loving lately in the comments section!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- OPI’s Ate Berries in the Canaries Nail Polish
(Source)
I am a pink nail polish girl through and through. Now that fall is on the horizon, I find myself feeling the pull away from the hot pinks and coral nail polish colors I adore so much during the summertime, but I’m not ready to fully commit to darker polish. Enter OPI’s Ate Berries in the Canaries. It’s a purple-based polish with a bit of pink in there, too, so naturally I love it! I used it to give myself a pedicure at home this week and think it’s a great transitional color.
- Your Comments On My Funny Wi-Fi Names Blog Post
You guys had me cracking up with your comments on my Funny Wi-Fi Names blog post. So creative!!! Some of my favorites: Husband and Wifi, Free Public WiFi (on a password-protected network), Los Pollos Hermanos (<—Breaking Bad!), Hide Yo Kids Hide Yo Wifi, It Hurts When IP, This LAN Is Your LAN, NACHO Wifi, How I Met Your Wifi, Wireless Virus
I’ve checked out Zulily (<—affiliate link!) before but for some reason my first impression lead me to believe that the website was a site mostly for moms that featured great deals on things for babies and kids. Well, I was wrong and it wasn’t until I saw a friend post about their Moving Comfort sale on Facebook that I browsed around and found myself pleasantly surprised. Some of my favorite Moving Comfort finds (the heathered gotta love it tunic and the momentum shorts) are 50 percent off! And just FYI, they’re also having a great sale on TOMS right now! (Thanks to Courtney for the head’s up on that one!)
- Outlets!
This is one of those random things that I almost didn’t include because it’s really trivial, but I know some of you out there will feel me on this one! The master bathroom in our new house has four outlets. Hallelujah! Every bathroom I’ve used to date has had two outlets and we all know that the plugs from hairdryers and straighteners are often so large that one of them overtakes two outlets, causing me to plug my straightener in somewhere else in the house to heat up while I blow dry my hair. I feel like I am in heaven with so many outlets right now! I can actually blow dry my hair and straighten or curl it in one place. It’s the little things.
- KIND Maple Quinoa Granola
I first discovered this granola at my parents’ place and fell in love with the crunch. Another great plus? Each serving only has two grams of sugar which is often quite hard to find in store-bought granola. I typically eat it on top of a cup of creamy Greek yogurt for a morning or afternoon snack.
I’m not sure what is going on with my skin right now, but my face broke out like crazy last week. A zit popped up on my chin that was basically the size of my eye and in desperation, I started rummaging around our bathroom looking for something to help clear it up. I stumbled upon this cream in Ryan’s drawer and when I asked him about it he said it worked pretty well for him in the past, so I gave it a shot. Forty-eight hours later, the mountain on my chin died down considerably! Yes, it could’ve just run its course, but right now I’m tipping my hat to this cream!
Questions of the Day
- What is one thing that is making you smile this week?
- Any products/treatments you swear by for treating breakouts?

I love Kind granola! I have four flavor currently in my pantry…it’s a bit of an issue.
Linz @ Itz Linz says
Lol!! Those wifi names are hilarious!!!
Laura Beth says
Gosh, outlets are so not a trivial thing to be excited about! Our house has ZERO outlets in the bathroom! It’s awful! It will be a glorious day when we renovate that bathroom! Outlets galore! 🙂
Corry says
I have one outlet in my bathroom, but the bathroom light has to be on in order for it to work :/ grrrrrrr
Michelle Hunt (@PeachyPalate) says
Apple Cider Vinegar kills them off real quick! If you catch it before it peaks you’ll stop it getting any bigger as well and it reduces redness!
Emma says
Really Michelle? Thanks for this tip!
Julie says
Thanks so much for the tip!!

LOVE that nailpolish color! just signed up for Zulily but can’t find the TOMS sale 🙁 do you have a link?
Kate @ Baking in Yoga Pants says
I hear you on the breakouts! I’m 27 and this week my face has looked like it did in middle school. I’ve been putting toothpaste on my blemishes at night and my husband makes fun of me for it. I swear I read that it works somewhere along the way 🙂
My Cajun Trinity says
That’s the only pimple cream that has ever worked for me as well. I’ve been using it since 1996. : )

Be careful with Zulily. I’ve had easy transactions there, but I recently had a bad experience with an order i placed, that NEVER got shipped. I waited and waited… and after 2 months of waiting, I emailed them asking where my order was. I get how their site works and that some of those things take time… they responded saying my order was scheduled to ship in three weeks… which totaled a 3 month wait for my item. Well three weeks passed, and I got an email saying my order was cancelled…. and they refunded the original cost of my purchase, but not the shipping. They tried to keep the $6 I paid to ship something that never came. After sending a stern email they finally refunded my money… but something just didn’t feel right about that whole debacle.
I dunno… maybe I’m a weirdo, but that kind of customer service (where they try to keep your $$ until you speak up) just turns me off.

I love that nail polish color. It is perfect for fall! I am loving the cooler weather right now. It feels so nice. I am also loving sautéed cinnamon apples. I have been eating them whenever I get a sweet craving. Yum!

I always love your Things I’m Loving Friday articles!
I also wanted to take this time to say that you are a blogspiration, Julie!! Honestly, I have never been quite that into reading up on blogs, but you have inspired me to get started on one of my own! You are so thoughtful and entertaining and have the best content – I love catching up on your articles every week! Thank you so much for putting a little more light into my life and sharing your wonderful world with us. 🙂
Julie says
This was such a kind and thoughtful comment! Thank you very much, Jamie!! You definitely made me smile! 🙂

My guess is perhaps stress caused the breakout?? I’ve been battling chin acne for about a month and a HALF! One pops up, I try to tame it ,and 4 more show up! it’s been AWFUL. I’m totally gonna try this cream out. Clinique used to make an AMAZING spot treatment but they discontinued it for some reason 🙁 Proactiv is expensive (in my opinion) but they usually have great products for treating your skin so that those nasty pimples never appear to begin with 😀
Jess says
I hear you on the skin drama—I almost never have problems but this week a few zits popped up in my “stress spots.” Ugh. I use this Burt’s Bee’s stuff I dab on with a Q-tip that’s effective but gentle. I think it’s tea tree oil-based.
Katie @ Live Half Full says
Thanks for sharing about that quinoa-I’m going to check it out!
For me the best thing for breakouts was simplifying my routine. I use Cetaphil face wash and moisturizer and that’s it!
Libby says
I always thought Zulily was for moms too! O.o
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
A local restaurant by me has a KIND maple granola bowl that they mix with almonds, fruits, and almond milk. It’s great!
Emily @ Sweet Summer Smiles says
Welcome back to Orlando! I first started reading your blog when you lived in Orlando. I know you must be so excited to be back with all of your friends, weddings are so much fun!
Julie says
Thank you for reading for so long!

Pumpkin spice tea is making me smile this weekend :)! ..and for spot treatments I use a dab of toothpaste! Seriously, it dries the pimple right out.

I have been struggling with breakouts since I turned 30! I found the best regimen ever. I have tried EVERYTHING for the last 8-9months including antibiotics, peels etc… but the Unblemish treatment from Rodan + Fields changed my world! I am so happy with my skin again for the first time in like 8 months.

A little belated but as I painted my nails tonight I thought of one of my best home manicure tricks – Nicole by OPI drying drops! Ever heard/tried them? I found them when helping a friend paint her girls’ (2 and 4!) nails – its the only way she keeps them from getting nail polish all over the furniture! 1-2 drops per nail right after your last or top coat and they’re dry within minutes. I literally just finished my nails and within 5 min was blending a soup and cleaning up dishes. Give it a try – less than $10 at target (in a little white box!) and you’re good to go FAST!!
Julie says
What!? I’ve never heard of this magic!!

You can always buy one of those things that’ll give you a couple of additional outlets: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/westinghouse-electrical-value-pack/1012384530?categoryId=10561
Veronica says
Is it bad that when you listed Outlet I thought you meant Outlet Malls, and how I went there this past weekend and enjoyed the new Kate Spade store. Sorry I’m not Sorry!!! lol
