Good morning to you! I am going to need all the energy I can get today because I have two indoor cycling classes on my agenda before 10 a.m.
Luckily Iām done teaching my first class for the day (I am seriously in love with my 6 a.m. crew — they are so much fun!), so I only have one remaining. Iām subbing for a Sculpt ānā Spin class at 9 a.m and the class format should be a neat one to teach because half of the workout is dedicated to cycling and the remaining 30 minutes will be spent off the bike, focusing on strength training. Iām just filling in for the regular instructor for today, but Iām looking forward to teaching something new!
Breakfast
During my morning class today, I joked with our group about how I always find myself brainstorming breakfast ideas during the last 15 to 20 minutes of any morning workout. (When Iām teaching, however, my mind doesnāt wander too much!) The class then started shouting out their own breakfast ideas and Iām pretty sure we all drooled through the climb during that little game.
One woman said she had protein pancakes on her mind this morning and that inspired me to revisit an old favoriteā¦
My super simple egg white and oatmeal protein pancake! Gosh, I love this recipe so darn much.
I added a big scoop of Teddie peanut butter to the egg white and oatmeal mixture today to give the pancake a little more staying power and stirred everything around before cooking it up in a skillet. The peanut butter was a great addition and definitely kicked the flavor up a notch. I topped the pancake with maple syrup and enjoyed it with a side of hot tea.
Now itās time to get rolling and head back out to the gym. My gym work day is going to be cut a little short today and I have plans to bring Caitlin dinner and meet her sweet baby Claire for the first time later this afternoon. Canāt wait!
Question of the Morning
- What are some of the most random things you think about during your workouts?
I do a lot of random meal planning during my workoutsā¦ Working out and dreaming about foodā¦ Sounds about right! Haha! During morning workouts, I also find myself thinking about the dayās to-do lists but I really try to keep myself in the zone (especially during Pure Barre because Iāll get lost if I donāt!).

I almost always think about food during a workour, so I’m glad I’m not the only one š
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
Depending on the workout, I’ll think about what I have to get done that day. Or I’ll be trying to keep up in my workout and all I can do is focus on what I’m doing.

that looks like a delicious breakfast!

Coffee. Hot, delicious coffee that is set to brew right before I get home from the gym. It gets me through my morning workout. Every. Single. Time.

I typically plan out my week, or like the following day. If I’m not thinking about that, I’m usually just people watching š

I have not been able to get on board with the egg white protein pancake.. for some reason, it creeps me out to think I’m putting syrup on an egg white. Weird, I know.
Courtney! @ Redefining Athlete says
I’m usually attempting some math about how much time/distance I have left (and the math is taking forever because I’m tired) or thinking about food.
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious says
During my workout I’m always strategizing for my day. What I need to do and how most efficiently I can get it done. On the weekend, I think about what I’m going to eat for sure. My workouts are later on the weekends so I’m much more hungry than during the week. Yeah for sleeping in!
Nona @ RunningHigh says
Always, always, always thinking about food. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner gets planned out! Haha

I feel your pain! Yesterday I taught 2 Body Pump classes AND 2 Body Attack classes! I was so so tired. Today I had a little bit lighter of a schedule so it was a welcome break. I have random thoughts about all sorts of stuff during workouts, but a lot of it does tend to focus on food. Happy Tuesday!

I either think about my next meal, what the rest of my day looks like, and planning out random things during my workouts.

Hi Julie! This is random and not related to todays post. My husband and I are thinking about spending a few days in Charlotte over our Spring Break. Are there any great places that you would suggest us checking out? We are history nerds and we love to be in the outdoors. I would love to see a post on the top 10 places that you’ve been to in Charlotte so far. Keep up the blogging! I love reading your posts!

how fun!! i love this idea for a blog post. i will start brainstorming!! feel free to shoot me an email if your trip approaches sooner rather than later — off the top of my head, i’d say that if you like the outdoors, definitely look into the whitewater center. we haven’t been yet, but EVERYONE says it’s a “must visit” for outdoor enthusiasts. i’m dying to go!
Stacie says
Do you find your appetite increases when you actively teach those classes?
Julie says
YES!!! I definitely need to eat more when I teach more! In general, I feel like the more cardio I do, the hungrier I am for the rest of the day. Give me all the foooood! š

I make a lot of checklists in my mind during my workouts. http://www.eatallovertheworld.com

I regularly teach two class in a row some days it’s 3 and I always think about how bad my hair looks. It’s weird when your teaching and you just want to correct your hair but can’t. It drives me nuts and I think about it the whole class long. When I’m taking classes, I usually think about the music, if I like it or hate it or haven’t heard it before or if they are using those 32 count track things. I’m all about tunes.
