My mom is heading back our way this afternoon after helping her sister with surgery recovery in Raleigh this week, so it will be wonderful to see her again. We also have a first birthday party to attend on Saturday and I’m hoping to spend a ton of time on the boat as well. Cross your fingers for sunny weather!
And now, since it’s Friday, it’s time to tackle your weekly Things I’m Loving Friday blog post where I share a little bit about some small things that make me smile every week and encourage you to do the same in the comments section.
Heeere we go!
Things I’m Loving Friday
My mom has a gift for finding the coolest little kitchen gadgets that make a big difference! Her last discovery was the silicone pot handle cover that I use constantly whenever I make my frittatas and now that the Lil’ Chizler is in my life, I am using it daily as well. My mom read about this tool in Real Simple and it’s magical. It does the BEST job at removing food that is completely stuck to pots and pans. It’s great for cleaning casserole dishes, muffin tins… the works! You can also use it to remove stickers from picture frames, clean tricky crevasses around the house and more. It’s inexpensive and it works like a charm. Love this thing!
How cute are these diapers!? I flipped when I saw them available online and knew I needed to include them in my next diapering bundle order from The Honest Company. Chase’s Stars & Stripes diapers arrived yesterday and they are even more adorable in person. You better believe he’ll be sporting these bad boys on the Fourth of July!
When I was pregnant, I had an aversion to barbeque sauce and I must say I am so happy that went away after Chase was born because I loooove barbeque everything! Bone Suckin’ BBQ Sauce has been our go-to BBQ sauce for years and I haven’t been able to get enough of it lately. I love it on grilled chicken but it’s also a great makeshift salad dressing when I want a BBQ salad of sorts. The sauce is thinner than most BBQ sauces I’ve tried and the ingredients aren’t creepy, so that’s always a big plus.
By now you guys probably know how much I love the Capri Blue Volcano candle (aka the candle that smells like an Anthropologie store) but I recently purchased the Capri Blue Pomegranate Citrus Candle and it smells so incredible. It’s like summer in candle form and makes our house smell bright and citrusy!

Your mom is one amazing lady! How lucky that she’s coming for another visit. My parents were down last weekend and it was so wonderful to spend time together and see them with their grandchild. It’s always such a fun and special time.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine says
I think I need that lil chizler!! What a find!

I like that ab workout, I always mean to squeeze in something like that at night but feel like I am not sure what to do. Thanks for the idea! One thing I am loving this week is yoga. I have been doing yoga regularly for the first time in a while and it makes me feel good inside and out!

I love those scrapers!! I have two of them and use them all of the time! Hope you get some time out on the water this weekend. This week I love chocolatey smoothies!
Marina @ A Dancer's Live-It says
Ooooo that Bone Suckin’ sauce looks amazing! I’m such a sucker for condiments. So happy your mom is coming down again! 🙂 I’ve been loving sunny days and dessert almost every night this week <3
Melissa @ melissakolbeck.com says
I am loving that my ballet performance is Saturday night which means I get my life back! I love ballet and am so grateful I’ve gotten to perform 3 times in the last 6 months, but this show took me away from my family a lot more than I anticipated. It’s a lot different dancing and performing when you’re married with a small child! I’m ready to go back to normal!
Torry @ The Gluten Free Wheat Life says
How lucky that you get to spend another weekend with your mom. I hope there is lots of time for you on the boat this weekend. I’m hoping one day my weekends can look like that too!
Julie says
Thank you, Torry!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, too! <3
Jessica @ Semi-Sweet Tooth says
So fun that your mom is coming back in town for the weekend! Hoping for great weather for you guys!
Capri Blue makes the BEST candles, don’t they! They all smell like instant relaxation. Can’t wait to try out this new to me scent!
Hope y’all have a great weekend!

I’ve seen that bone suckin’ sauce everywhere!! It must be a hit and I gotta find it!
Currently, I’m LOVING Yogi’s Egyptian licorice tea!
Patricia @Sweet And Strong says
That Lil Chizler sounds amazing, I hate scrubbing pans and muffin tins! And I love a good candle, especially if they burn for a long time. One thing I’m loving lately are the new Larabar Bites, I posted about them on my blog today, they are like lil granola bar bites and make a perfect healthy dessert. Have a great weekend!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Capri Blue makes the BEST candles. Hands down. We have the volcano candle year ’round! I need to try the citrus one!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
The chiseler sounds like one of those things that you didn’t realize would be super useful until you used it.
Those diapers are adorable!
Julie says
Exactly!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
My favorite strange kitchen tool is my banana slicer. Seriously. I love it. Happy Friday, Julie! Enjoy time with Momma! Are you going to BlogFest this year?? I am going back!
Julie says
I WISH! I don’t think so… I’m still nursing Chase and don’t have enough breastmilk saved up to be gone that long. :/ I’m crossing my fingers for next year!
Heather @ Life In Leggings says
Wahhh – hopefully next year for me as well. It’s always such a great time seeing blogging buddies! (Miss you both!)
Michelle M. says
Happy Friday! Those candles…heaven! I love burning candles, but I forget about them in the summer when the heat here in Texas is out of control. You’ve inspired me to burn one tonight. Have a fabulous weekend!
Morgan A says
WOW I hope whoever invented the kitchen tool is a millionaire because that is genius!! I ruin so many pots/pans/dishes with those scratchy pad things. And bonus that it’s pink, lol. Great share!!

Heather @ Life In Leggings says
Thanks so much for sharing my workout playlist, Julie! I can’t stop jamming out 🙂 Those diapers are too cute – I hope you have a great weekend with your mom on the boat!

Lately I’ve been loving health podcasts! They’re a great way to make time pass by quickly when you’re driving or when you’re doing cardio!
Katie Martin says
Since inadvertently forgetting sunscreen on my lower legs in Florida one afternoon, I’ve been applying Coola Radical Recovery after-sun lotion liberally to my legs. This stuff is AWESOME! It contains aloe vera so the burn is soothed instantly. Plus, I haven’t peeled at all yet! Pretty much saving my summer, haha!
Laura says
Moms are the best at finding awesome little gifts! 🙂 I totally need that chizler in my life! I use steel wool but it tears up my hands! Yikes! Thank you so much for including me in your roundup! 🙂 <3 Have an amazing Sunday!
Sara says
Hi Julie,
Totally random but I was trying to find a picture of your kitchen to see what countertop color you have with the white cabinets. My boyfriend and I are purchasing a home with white cabinets and I’m trying to see what countertops look good with it 🙂
Julie says
Hi Sara! You can see them in the background of this post –> https://www.pbfingers.com/2016/01/28/blue-apron-january-2016-giveaway/ Hope this helps!! And good luck with the home-buying process. Very exciting!!
