(Pic from our early NYE celebration with some of our closest friends and our little ones!)
Our weekend plans are pretty minimal which is 100 percent intentional. We need to get our house in order since it currently looks like Christmas threw up all over our dining room table and our Christmas tree is still up and shedding approximately 1,000 pine needles per second.
Maybe putting all of our Christmas stuff up in the attic will be our rockin’ Friday night activity!? Please don’t try to hide your jealousy.
I am glad I was able to get back to blogging a bit this week — it’s kind of crazy how much I miss it when I miss even a few days — and I’m happy to be sharing my weekly Things I’m Loving Friday post with you guys again after a mini hiatus. Today’s post includes a few things that are making me smile lately and, as always, I’d love to hear a little bit about something you’re loving this week as well!
Have a great first weekend of 2019, my friends!
Things I’m Loving Friday
My mom has one of these key rings and has raved about it for years. I’ve always admired it from afar but this year I not-so-subtly hinted that I might like one of my own for Christmas. My sister surprised me with the rose gold version and I absolutely love it! I am surprised just how handy I’m already finding it, especially since slipping the ring around my wrist frees up both of my hands which I need pretty much at all times when I’m out and about with two kids in tow.
I’ve been sliding the key ring around my wrist along with my favorite wristlet pouch I use to carry the essentials (a couple of diapers, wipes, lip balm, healing ointment, a spare onesie) and it’s perfect! I have two free hands to use to carry Ryder, hold Chase’s hand, etc. Until I miraculously grow a third arm, I appreciate anything that allows me to have a free hand!

Ryder’s First Tooth
Guess whose first tooth emerged on New Year’s Eve!? Based on just how much Ryder’s been gnawing on everything and drooling, his first tooth has been dying to break through for weeks! Ryder’s left lower middle tooth finally made its debut on Monday and I now feel like my baby is growing up waaay too fast.

Jazzercise with My Mom and Sister
This didn’t make my Christmas 2018 post only because I was trying my best to keep things concise, but on Christmas Eve, I attended a Jazzercise class with my mom and sister and was reminded, yet again, how much I LOVE that class! It’s so energizing, uplifting and encouraging and the environment of nearly every Jazzercise studio I’ve attended has always been so positive and welcoming.
My mom and sister regularly attend Jazzercise in Jacksonville and I loved joining them for a holiday-themed workout. We had a blast dancing and stretching to holiday music on Christmas Eve morning and attending the class made me miss the days when I’d regularly join my mom and Leslie for Jazzercise classes during random breaks in the school year when I’d be home from college. We even attended one of Jazzercise’s giant on-location events together back in 2012!

Chase’s Fireman Jacket + Boots
Right before Christmas, Chase’s latest Stitch Fix Kids delivery arrived and it included his favorite clothing items to date: A fireman rain coat and fireman rain boots. He plays imagination games all day every day, so this rainy day apparel is currently doubling as dress up items for “Fire Chase,” as he likes to call himself. And yes, that would be his “fireman pose” above. I don’t know where he comes up with this stuff!

Friday Flashbacks
This Week’s Meal Plan: 5 Meatless Meals (I had a few of you request more plant-based recipes on the blog in 2019 which I definitely hope to share but in the interim, here are five meatless meals we loved in 2018!)
10 Most Used Kitchen Items (A few of my kitchen must-haves to make cooking, baking and cleanup a little easier!)
Question of the Day
What is one thing making you smile this week?
Kim says
Would you be able to share the brand of the raincoat? I am looking for one like it and hoping it’s not exclusive to stitch fix! Thanks
Julie says
absolutely! just checked and it’s western chief and i found it on nordstrom’s website –> http://bit.ly/2COh4nf hope this helps!!
Melissa says
I love that key ring! I should probably upgrade my Victoria Secret PINK lanyard from high school at some point… ?
Yay for meatless meals! My husband and I have a goal for each month in 2019 that relates to improving ourselves either physically, mentally, or spiritually and we have a meat free month planned for February!
Happy New Year!
Laura says
Love that key ring! I may have to get one 🙂
The thing I’m loving most is just slowing down after the busy holidays and soaking in every moment. I love watching my 6 month old taking the world in- little smiles, laughs, reaching for and playing with the things that interest her (note I didn’t say playing with “toys”….because everything else is so much more interesting apparently!) And I love listening to my 3 year olds stories. Oh the things she comes up with and remembers (apparently I told her she could one day have the pink watch we saw at CVS weeks ago.)
Julie says
They never forget ANYTHING, I swear!!! So when are you going to get that watch? 😉

So exciting about Ryder’s tooth! Those wreaths are gorgeous! Was that adorable picture of Chase with his friends taken at your house?!
Julie says
Aren’t they beautiful!? It was taken outside my friend Lauren’s new house. They’re from Magnolia Market and I love the look, too!
Sara Wilson says
Love! Oh my gosh, Julie, I had to write to tell you how much I love your Instagram post today! I couldn’t comment on the post because I recently decided I’d had it with Instagram and I deleted my account. (But I still check four pages, one of them being yours!) Months ago I decided I was over perfection on the internet, especially when it comes to parenting. I started a page on Facebook called Motherhood is Pure Bliss and All the Other Lies to share blurry photos of my two boys being wild and crazy! (And I am a professional photographer!) I post more on that page than I do on my picture perfect photography page and the funny real life moments often get more positive reactions. Seeing so much perfection on Instagram was honestly making me feel bad and I decided I wanted to be happier in 2019. I hope you are planning a blog post where you share all of the pictures you wanted to share but didn’t! That picture of your cute baby is perfection!

Welcome back! I jump on every day to check out the latest Fagan adventures and updates! It has been a crazy week with the early holiday.
This week I”m loving goal setting for 2019 which includes researching our 2020 Iceland trip. It’s been so fun to look at all the possibilities for our adventure with hubs. Happy New Year Fagan Family!
Julie says
Oh my gosh that sounds INCREDIBLE! Iceland is on my bucket list BIG TIME.
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
I still have yet to try Jazzercise and would love to — I’ve honestly just never seen it offered anywhere! We put Christmas away this week and it felt great — but then the house seems so empty heheh! Happy Friday, Julie! Enjoy your weekend!
Amy says
