I began sharing these random roundups of Amazon finds back in 2019 and though there haven’t been a ton of them (see the first one here and the second one here), since they seem to be posts you guys enjoy, I figured I’d continue to periodically share them here when I have a decent number of Amazon wins to highlight!
Today’s post includes everything from random kitchen finds, chapter books for kids and my new favorite tumbler to socks, storage baskets, dish soap and more. I’d also love to hear about some of your recent Amazon finds in the comments section so we all can check them out!
10 Recent Amazon Finds
The Dragon Masters series came highly recommended by you guys when I put out a request for chapter book recommendations for a 5 year old on Instagram Stories. Chase is absolutely devouring these books with a fervor I haven’t seen since we first discovered the Magic Tree House series. For anyone with kids around the same age as Chase, as a mom, I think this book is a great way to introduce chapter books to kids because the chapters are short, it still incorporates pictures on every page (they’re just black and white and not full-page illustrations) and the language is clean and kid-appropriate. (Yes, I’m the mom who doesn’t like characters in kid books calling each other “stupid” or other not-so-respectful names.) We are flying through this series!
The Simple Modern tumbler lives up to the hype BIG time. I bought it after seeing it pop up on Instagram over and over again and reading the positive reviews — there are more than 31,000 of them! I use this tumbler almost every single day and honestly find myself reaching for it more often than my YETI because its slender design makes allows it to easily fit in my cupholder and it keeps my water cold for a looong time! It’s also available in a ton of different colors but I’m a little partial to my bubblegum pink!

REUZEL Clay Matte Pomade (For Styling the Boys’ Hair)
Chase and Ryder’s hair has been through the ringer over the course of the past few months thanks to their DIY haircuts but we’re finally getting back into a phase of hair growth that I like on both of them. I’ve been using the REUZEL Clay Matte Pomade on their hair for years and one tub lasts forever! I don’t use much when I’m parting Chase’s hair or styling Ryder’s mohawk (aka his “spikes” according to him) but just a tiny amount is enough to get rid of some crazy bed head and make them look a little more stylin’!
These were a recent Things I’m Loving Friday feature for good reason! A good quality pen that writes well is something that makes me incredibly happy and, after taking inventory of the pens in our house that I reached for on repeat, I came to the realization that I LOVE .7mm medium-point gel pens the most. My favorite pens are the .7mm Sharpie S-Gel Pens because they’re not super fine, write smoothly and don’t smear. I love the crisp white color of these pens and the soft padding for my fingers is an added bonus. I highly recommend them if you’re a pen weirdo like me!
I was on the lookout for a basic casual long-sleeve top that would transition well from fall to winter and then from winter to spring. This Amazon find comes in a myriad of colors but since I’m a sucker for anything rust-colored these days, I picked that one and loved it! It’s a great length to pair with leggings and a flannel around my waist and looks good with jeans and white sneakers, too.
Call me lazy, but for some reason I always hated dirtying a large colander when I needed to drain and/or rinse a can of beans or tomatoes. This can strainer caught my eye on Amazon a while back and is so darn handy! I use it all time time to drain cans of food (or press them — as is the case with canned tuna) and it cleans easily which is an added bonus.
I tried going the homemade dish soap route a while back and it was one fail after the next. Once I officially threw in the towel, I switched to Puracy, a natural dish soap that’s free from harsh ingredients and damaging chemicals. It’s gentle on the skin but still powerful enough to cut through food grease on dishes and I’ve re-ordered this three pack off Amazon a bunch of times now!
Our boys RUN around our house non-stop. From the time they wake up to the time they go to sleep at night, I swear they never stop moving. We have hardwood floors downstairs and without non-skid bottoms on their socks, the boys have had more than a few wipe outs. These non-skid toddler socks are fabulous because they help prevent falls in our house and also look cute! I love the gray and black designs because the socks look cute when they peek out under their pants and seem to go with almost any outfit this time of year. (As I was writing this post, I ended up ordering the no-slip ankle version of these socks for the boys for the spring and summer months.) Thanks to my sister for telling me about these socks after she discovered the pastel version for Callie!
I’m a mom of three boys — all of whom have LOVED their pacifier — and yet I have never used a pacifier clip until baby #3. What was I thinking!? To be honest, Wubbanubs make it pretty easy for kids to find their own pacifiers since the stuffed animal attached to the paci helps a lot with keeping track of pacifiers BUT when we’re in the car, Rhett, much like his two older brothers, loves flinging his pacis all over the place. Enter, the pacifier clip! The bad boy is now a staple for us for car travel and stroller walks so we don’t lose any more pacifiers to the wilderness or the black hole of Mom’s car.
When I say this rope basket is giant, I mean it’s seriously ginormous. Picture a big rope basket in your mind? Okay, now double that size and you have this basket! This basket serves as the “costume basket” for all of our boys’ dress up clothes. It’s huge and not a total eyesore and works perfectly for storing all of their clothes, hats and dress up accessories.
Question of the Day
Any awesome Amazon finds to share? Please let us know so we can check them out, too!
ariane buffum says
its true, that basket is HUGE, but its great for storing balls and toddler toys
Julie says
exactly!! when it arrived i initially thought it was TOO big but it ended up being perfect for all of their costumes! and now of course i am thinking of getting another one for random toys and balls like you mentioned!
Caitlin says
I’ve been intrigued by the simple modern tumbler but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Do you put it in the dishwasher?
Julie says
yes i do!
Mitra says
I have the 16oz marble tumbler. It is sooo cute. The only part I don’t like is washing the straw.
Laurel says
They sell replacement straws on Amazon too (pack of 4 for $6.99) . I’ve found the replacement straws much easier to clean than the one that originally comes with the tumbler, because their a little bit wider.
Becca says
I love when you share these type of posts Julie. So often you see things on Amazon with a lot of reviews only to be disappointed. I always trust what you post and have found so many things I would have never even thought I “needed.” Thank you!
Julie says
thanks becca!! i’m glad you like them!! <3
Sharon says
I have already ordered the pens, after seeing them on your blog and about to order another set. They are the best. Thanks so much for the recommendation. I am a fellow pen lover 😊.

I would love to see a post about how Chase has developed his love for reading over the years and how you guys approach reading with them! We do stories we our 3 year old each night before bed, and other random times, but she’s busy so we’re not a bit sit there and read all the time type. But I’d really love for her to also love reading as I think it’s so beneficial!
When did you start chapter books? When do you read together? How long for?!
Thanks!
Heather says
Not a mom, but a teacher! I love that you selectively pick some of the books you read with the boys. My only piece of advice is that, as they get older, to make sure to allow readers’ choice to continue that love for reading. Sometimes, when kids feel like they don’t have choice in picking books, their fervor for reading can decrease.
I will definitely put those pens on my list when my Flair pens run out!
Julie says
thanks for the tip!! our boys almost always pick the books they want to read! of course we’ll buy some new books to try that they don’t pick out themselves or get new-to-them books from the library but it’s almost always up to them to choose which stories we read. chase just really took to dragon masters and wants to read them all the time!
Julie says
i love that idea for a post, nicole!! we started chapter books when chase was a little over 4 years old. chase has a very genuine love for story time and will sit there for a LOT longer than ryder right now — i think a LOT of that is the age which is probably what you’re experiencing with your 3yo, too!! ryder loves books as well but tends to want to get up and play after two stories unless he’s REALLY into them!

Buying those socks now! My little guy is just learning to walk and we have no carpet in our house. Thanks for sharing!
Tricia says
Can’t wait to buy the pens! I remember you loved the Puracy stain remover for the boy’s clothes … Are you still liking it or have you found another natural solution? My 10m old’s clothes are gross from her adventures with solid foods 🙃. Thanks!!!

My recent purchases:
*Joseph 85119 kitchen drawer organizer ~ I have a small kitchen with only 5 small drawers. I ordered this and I love it ~ I can put other utensils beside it.
*Garlic keeper ~ a cute little garlic keeper.
*Koopeh Designs Garlic Peeler Silicone ~ love this thing ~ it peels the garlic clove perfectly.
*Toro 29210 43 gal garden spring bucket ~ I love working in my yard and have spent a lot of money on items like these that don’t stand up. This one is sturdy and stands up.

We are big simple modern fans over here. My husband and his two buddies started the company a few years back. So fun to see it grow! Lmk if you want us to send you guys some more product!

Getting the socks for my little boy now, thanks!!

I am also the mom who doesn’t like using “stupid” and words like that. If we’re reading a book with the word ‘hate’ I change it to “do not like’.
A year or so ago, I was writing up a investigation for two employees who were cursing and threatening each other in the office (yay HR) . It was a hot item and I had to work on it when I got home. My son, who was 4 at the time, asked why I was still working. I said that some people were saying not nice words to each other. He looked at me and whispered “were they saying ‘stupid’?” It was the cutest thing and I felt good about my no using ‘stupid’ rule!
Sarah says
I seriously love those socks and they’re the only ones I put on my little guy! On that note, I definitely recommend Bamboo Chirpysocks for us adults! They are super soft slipper socks made from bamboo with grips on the bottoms. 😁I’ve had mine for going on a year now and they’re still holding up!

My tumbler just arrived and I love it! Thanks for the recommendation. I almost purchased a Yeti, but this one is lighter and came with both tops included. So glad you shared it!
