Morning
All of the boys were up by 7 a.m. on Tuesday (as usual) and the big kids ran out of their room asking if they could get Rhett up (he was making noises in his pack ‘n’ play) so they could all go lizard hunting.
Their love for catching and releasing anole lizards is somethin’ fierce, I’m telling you.
We have a collection of nets and creature cages that go with us everywhere and when I say everywhere that is NOT an exaggeration. They always have to be prepared!
Once everyone was dressed and had breakfast in their bellies, we said goodbye to Ryan and headed outside for a lizard hunt before it was time to go to the gym. Ryan and I signed up for a one-month membership to the YMCA during our time in Florida and it’s been a fantastic decision.

The Y has childcare the boys love (they actually plan story times, craft projects, etc.!) and it allows us to have a bit of “me” time in the form of exercise without relying on family or babysitters for childcare help. I’ve primarily been streaming Burn Boot Camp workouts to follow at the gym with my wireless earbuds and it’s working well.
Tuesday’s workout was an upper body session and I noticed some unusual pain in my right shoulder. I eliminated anything that made my shoulder twinge and will be keeping an eye it and resting my shoulders for a while.
Afternoon + Evening
Once my workout was done, I scooped up the boys from childcare and we popped by our rental house to change into swimsuits before heading over to the pool at my parents’ place where we met up with my parents and my sister and her family.
(Check out the lizard that hitched a ride on Chase’s pool float.)
Our boys would happily swim every single day and during our time in Florida that’s pretty much what we do! It’s 1,000 degrees outside so outside activities that center around water are definitely preferred right now.
We swam and splashed and played by the pool for two hours until everyone’s stomachs told us it was time for lunch. We toweled off and changed into dry clothes and then ate lunch ate my parents’ place before Rhett’s nap. My parents have a pack ‘n’ play and a noise machine permanently set up in a bathroom so their grandbabies (grandtoddlers?) can easily nap there and it’s a nice perk to have on hand! While Rhett slept, Chase, Ryder and I hung out with my parents and I managed to sneak in some work and email time, too.
I was also grateful to my mom for weighing in with her thoughts as I tried to make paint-related decisions for the new house. It’s time to select sheens for the walls, trim and ceilings as well as paint colors for every room! I love a matte sheen on walls but I don’t think that’s the smartest way for us to go with a family of three energetic boys. I know I’ll be kicking myself if we choose a paint that doesn’t allow us to easily wipe down our walls since our family isn’t meticulously clean so we’re planning to go for a satin sheen on our walls to keep the home more kid-friendly.
Here’s a peek into some of the wall color selections for our new home for those who like the house-related stuff:
(Paint colors in clockwise order: Benjamin Moore Pebble Beach, Benjamin Moore Sonoma Clay, Benjamin Moore White Dove, Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog, Benjamin Moore Vale Mist)
Once Rhett was awake, we said goodbye to my parents and drove back to our rental house for backyard playtime, soccer and dinner.
On the menu for last night was air fryer garlic teriyaki salmon with mixed grains and shishito peppers.
So good!
Ryan and I managed to get the kids tucked into bed by 7:30 p.m. and hung out on the couch for a bit as we ate ice cream and warm chocolate chip cookies. (The Whole Foods in Jax Beach sells frozen bake-at-home brown butter chocolate chip cookie dough in their bakery and I cannot resist) We then headed to bed to read until we fell asleep. I’m about a quarter of the way through The Brighter the Light and I’m struggling big time to get into this one. I’m semi-interested but it’s slooow and the only thing keeping me going is the 20,000+ positive Amazon reviews. They’re giving me hope it will turn around soon.
As for today, it will look a lot like Tuesday with the exception of a trip to the dentist for me. I chipped my front tooth — yes, AGAIN — and am getting it fixed this afternoon. Should be a blaaast!
I hope you all have a great Wednesday and I hope to see you back here on Friday. Enjoy your week!!

What a fun way to tackle the limbo between houses. My husband and I fondly remember our time in an apartment with an awesome pool between our house being sold and our new one being built.

Loving those paint colors! They all compliment each other so well! Can I ask where you got Chase’s pool float? It looks so perfect! Thanks!
Julie says
Hi! It’s from Amazon –> https://amzn.to/3cNnuHN It’s great for the pool but we aren’t taking it to the beach because I think it would blow away! They love it for the pool though!
Amanda says
Perfect! Thanks!

I just finished The Brighter the Light. I kept waiting for something big to happen but it never did for me. I will say I enjoyed the end and am glad I read the whole thing, it just wasn’t a crazy amazing book for me.

Loving this “day in the life”! Very fun sneak peak!
Our new to us house has matte walls. I also love the finish and prefer it but my goodness! We are slowly re-painting every surface because our toddler does NOT do well with it. It’s impossible to clean anything off.
