Late this afternoon, Sadie and I accompanied Ryan to Red Bug Park to watch his soccer game. We arrived a good 30 minutes before his game was scheduled to start, so Sadie and I went on a walk to explore the area.
Truth be told, I just had to get her far away from Ryan as he warmed up because she wouldn’t stop lunging forward, trying to get to her dad.
Doesn’t she look bored with my love? Playing soccer looked like so much more fun than playing with Mama. Apparently I don’t take puppy rejection very well because her blasé attitude only encouraged me to be extra loving. “You will love me back, dog!”
Eventually Ryan’s game started and we settled in under a shady tree.
Sadie didn’t miss a play. I took the opportunity to multitask and caught up with my friend Michaela on the phone while simultaneously cheering for Ryan.
Unfortunately Ryan’s team lost by one point. We headed home feeling a bit discouraged, but bounced back after enjoying a yummy dinner.
The base of our meal was whole wheat penne pasta that we topped with roasted cauliflower and homemade cheese sauce.
I made the cheese sauce by following this recipe while Ryan showered and got cleaned up after his game.
It was great and very filling!
Off to catch the latest episode of America’s Next Great Restaurant! I love watching people brainstorm restaurant concepts and come up with fun foodie ideas.
Question of the Evening
- If you opened your own restaurant, what type of cuisine would you serve?
I’m going to bypass the whole restaurant thing and say I’d open up my own sweets shop. I’d sell frozen yogurt, baked goods and homemade candies and live life on a sugar high!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
My family already owns a few diners… I would probably follow that direction. Breakfast food is our thing, and you can use the same ingredients to make so many different things! Lovin’ the healthy mac & cheese!

I was bummed at who they picked to go home last night 🙁 I really liked her idea of Sinners & Saints…very creative!
Holly says
Oh, meant to ask who are rooting for to win??

at first i wanted the healthy restaurant “compleat,” but now i don’t like how much they’ve changed her original idea! i guess grill billies is my next favorite, but i’m really not in love w/ any of them! what about you?
Holly says
I liked ‘compleat’ too- really cool idea! Now I guess I’m rooting for Soul Food- I just really like his personality! And chicken & waffles have a special spot in my heart- lol!
Carly @ Cooking With Carly says
We love that show, too! I would open a healthy fast-food restaurant, but I would do a heck of a lot better job that that “mediterranean-sol” chick. She’s not executing it very well, if I do say so myself. 🙂
Erin @ The Grass Skirt says
I’m totally in love with Sadie. 🙂 If I had a restaurant, I’d serve breakfast all day every day. Breakfast is my specialty and favorite meal of the day. 🙂

A vegetarian, gluten-free, soy-free restaurant that doesn’t rely on gross coconut and mushrooms for recipes…hmmm so apparently only I would be eating there! lol
Caitlin @ The Caitie Experiment says
We LOVE America’s Next Great Restaurant — it’s sick, but I was secretly slightly bummed that we went to the Red Sox game last night, because we missed ANGR! (Ok, VERY slightly bummed, but still bummed!). I have a secret crush on Bobby Flay, and a public crush on both Curtis Stone and food, so it doesn’t get much better. 😉
Heather says
My restaurant would be a fusion of healthy, all natural world cuisine with funky desserts and lots of chocolate:)

Julie-I made that cheese sauce recipe for supper tonight, had it over pasta and cauliflower, too, and loved it! I always love trying new meal recipes. Thanks for sharing!!
