Valentine’s Day in the Fagan household was low key and lovely!
I surprised Ryan with a ridiculous “Happy Valentine’s Day” display on our garage door.
In our household, the cheesier, the better!
Ryan and I are big sign people and like to leave signs on the door to welcome each other home after a trip away or congratulate each other after something neat happens, so I figured I’d up the ante a bit and he got a big kick out of it!
After dinner, we exchanged our $20 gifts!
And yes, Ryan wrapped my gifts in a popcorn tin that we saved from Christmas. We never buy new wrapping paper or gift bags when we give gifts to each other and just reuse the gift bags that we’ve received from others, so it’s always interesting to see what our gifts look like. I laughed out loud when I saw the popcorn tin!
My gifts from Ryan included a super soft pink t-shirt, gum (I am a gum-chewing maniac) and awesome neon Reebok socks!
The socks totally reminded me of the Lisa Frank notebooks I used to own as a kid and the fourth grade girl inside of me freaked out a little bit!
When I mentioned Lisa Frank, Ryan gave me a rather confused look and told he me had never heard of her. It saddens me to know that his childhood didn’t include neon kitten notebooks and Trapper Keepers adorned with psychedelic seals.
My gifts to Ryan included a book, turkey jerky, his favorite candy, a can of nawgan (he loves this stuff) and a bunch of white chocolate-covered Oreos from a local chocolatier that obviously got inhaled the minute he opened them since they alluded any photographs.
It was a lovely Valentine’s Day!
Workout
Today began nice and early with a sweaty whiteboard-inspired workout at the gym.
Once a week or so, my gym puts a new functional training workout on the whiteboard and today I followed the workout, but added in some upper body exercises as well. It was a good one!
I had a smoothie for breakfast and worked through the morning until it was time for lunch.
Lunch
Lunch today was rather random.
I had a serious craving for ricotta cheese that I couldn’t shake, so pizza toast made with the creamy cheese sounded perfect.
Craving = Satisfied
I also ate a couple of handfuls of salted cashews on the side.
Now it’s time to pack. Off to Sanibel for the weekend!
Happy Friday!
Question of the Afternoon
- Any other childhood Lisa Frank fans out there?

I love your sign for Ryan. That is too cute! 😉
I cannot believe he didn’t know what Lisa Frank is ;). I used to love those products. I had coloring books and puzzles!
Lastly, that pizza toast looks AMAZING. So simple, but so delicious I am sure.

OMG I have a huge Lisa Frank sticker collection that I still actively look at and do ebay searches for the few stickers I am missing. My son understands it is “hands off” the sticker book and can look through it only if I am around lol. My friends’ daughters love to come look through it with me since it is such an extensive collection. Lisa Frank was the best with the bright colors and cute bears and candy and lollipops etc. I am so proud of my young self for realizing back then to keep all of the stickers on their original backings. The stickers date back to 1980. Love Lisa Frank!
Kim says
Omg! I was obsessed with Lisa frank when I was in elementary school. I had to have all the different designs.
Eleni says
I would love to win this blender to help me whip up delicious smoothies quickly! I’m in school and like to drink my VEGA smoothies in the AM but my blender barely works I think it’s from 70s it’s rough.
Rachel says
I have had my eye on a high powered blender since I got pregnant. Now that I have twin boys, I would love to make healthy smoothies and soups for us using one. I use my blender daily and can only imagine home awesome life would be with a blendtec.

I loved Lisa Frank stuff when I was in school.

I always wanted Lisa Frank but my mom fervently maintained it was ridiculous to spend that much on a folder. As much as I agree with her as an adult, they are still totally awesome.

I was OBSESSED with Lisa Frank! Funny though, my mom would never let me get any of those products. She and my dad were teachers and were so sick of seeing it in their classes that they didn’t want to see it at home either haha! I always managed to find a random pencil or sticker and would hoard them in my room 😛
Emily says
Lisa Frank was the best!!! A few weeks ago I noticed my friend writing with a colorful bird pencil…it was Lisa Frank! I have no idea how she held onto it for so long! And I’m so jealous of your trip to Sanibel. My family and I took a vacation there this past summer but we ran into tropical storm Debbie so unfortunately didn’t get to experience all of its beauty 🙁
Babs says
I love the sign on the garage! What a lovely message to come home to.
Audrey Adams says
I think I still have a little Lisa Frank “agenda” notebook thing. The pens don’t work…:( But when i was little, I was a super fan! That looks like a really fun workout, might try it someday next week after my half marathon on Sunday.
Ivette says
ohhhh let me tell you, I was BIG on Lisa Frank!!
from notebooks to gel pens, stickers, backpacks, you name it… I had it!
so I completely understand where you’re coming from;D
kendra @ http://www.kennygump.com/ says
oh my word that is so funny about the lisa frank notebooks. i totally had those but wouldn’t have remembered the name to save my life. i love it! the socks are a score!
Rachel says
I looooved Lisa Frank too…so bright and magical! I would love a blender…I’m trying to eat healthier and that means smoothies for breakfast…but my blender is kinda wimpy!
Shanon Edwards says
I would LOVE to win this blender (and Stonyfield Blends yogurt) because my current blender is on the fritz and can hardly crush my frozen bananas- so the ice-crushing guarantee particularly appeals to me! The yogurt would be perfect to add to the healthy smoothies I have been trying to make for breakfast every day!
Tara | Treble in the Kitchen says

The socks are the sweetest!! I loved the spending cap idea!! But Lisa Frank… Yeah she was the bomb. I still walk through Wal-Mart and get surprised when I see her stuff around back to school time. ALWAYS tempted to get a folder or two lol
Angela Friedman says
Hi! Found your blog on pintrest and have been a fan ever since!
I make green smoothies with green leafy veggies and fruits every day. The consistency of the smoothie is never right, due to do my crappy blender :(. A new blender would make our green smoothie experience soooo much more enjoyable! 🙂
Sabrina @ Work It Ms Jackson says
Your lunch just out my breakfast of scrambled eggs to shame. That looks WAY better than what I ate. LOL!!
I LOVED Lisa Frank! Sadly, my husband is like Ryan and has never heard of Lisa Frank until I mentioned it. And I have mentioned it on several occasions and he gives me the blank stare everytime. I finally had to google it for him and still got nothing, It was a sad day in our house. 😉
