As I went to bed last night, I set the alarm for 6 a.m., promising myself I’d get up and go for a run immediately upon awakening.
This is key for me when it comes to morning runs. I have to commit fully to the run before I go to sleep because even the slightest wavering “maaaaybe I’ll run” thought will kill all my motivation.
When the alarm beeped, I leashed up Sadie and threw on my workout clothes and headed out for a five mile run. (Love having my running buddy back with me!)
It was already 80 degrees at 6 a.m. and the air was thick and sticky. I felt really slow and this run was definitely more of a start and stop run with a few walking breaks, but at least I got my booty out there!
It was a tough one for sure.
After my run, I gulped a ton of water, packed the remainder of my suitcase for my trip to Philadelphia today and ate a cup of Frosted Mini Wheats.
Then it was shower time! It felt great to wash the sweat out of my hair. Woo-wee!
Breakfast
I’m sure you can guess what I had for breakfast…
No surprise there.
A smoothie topped with some fresh blueberries helped cool me down even further from my run.
Now it’s time to put on some travel clothes. I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing my go-to travel outfit. Can’t beat a maxi dress when it comes to ultimate comfort.
I am really looking forward to spending the weekend in Philadelphia. The last time I was in Philly was when I was there for a corporate training week for that one job I hated. I remember being miserable and spending every break in my room scanning job boards and websites desperately looking for a new job!
I have a feeling this trip will be much better.
See ya from North Carolina… assuming they have complimentary internet access during my layover!

a maxi dress is usually my go-to travel outfit too! they are just so much more comfortable than anything else but still look cute. the only problem is that going through security means you usually have to get patted down…i realized that last time i flew somewhere and was wearing one. maybe that won’t happen to you though 🙂 have fun!

I always found it extremely hard to run with my dog. he wanted to stop and pee on EVERYTHING.

I completely agree with you. The key to making my morning workout is committing to it the night before. I have to make up my mind that I’m going to the gym at this time to do this workout or go to this class. I can’t set the alarm for too early or too late either.
I’m two for two this week after being out of the gym for two and a half months after my wedding. I’m glad to be back!
