A valentine made just for you with love from me and crazy Sadie!
We love you guys!
Workout
Today’s workout began with 20 minutes of cardio. I read the latest issue of Fitness magazine (and saw one of Cassey’s tank tops featured!) and finished my time on the stair master feeling warmed up and ready to complete a Best Body Boot Camp workout.
Today’s workout took me through a high intensity circuit that included a lot of exercises that targeted my lower body. I did the same one last week and was sore for two days! I think the side squat to hip abduction deserves all the credit for the soreness! (You can see an example of how to do this exercise at 1:25 in this video by Cathe.)
Breakfast
Shredded cheese stole the show this morning.
I made myself a bowl of scrambled eggs with shredded cheese, chopped peppers and chicken sausage.
Not a bad way to start the day!
I’m planning to work through the morning on my first fitness-related freelance assignment! (NASM folks, the title of the article is “The Return of the Twist” and it’s all about working out in the transverse plane.) Then, around lunchtime, I’m planning to head out to find some fun things for Ryan for Valentine’s Day as part of our $20 Valentine’s Day Mission! I also have a fantastically embarrassing idea for Ryan’s homemade valentine this year, so I need to get that done at some point as well.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Question of the Morning
- Do you have any plans to celebrate Valentine’s Day today?
Ryan and I are planning on making a nice dinner at home together before exchanging our $20 gifts. Low key and fabulous!
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
Thanks for the Valentine! Too funny 🙂 I love your low-key v-day plans and that you both do a $20 exchange. I wanna start doing that.
My husband is actually on a business trip this week, so I’m spending the day with just my pup. But he’s a pretty good Valentine if you ask me. We’re celebrating for “real” on Saturday by touring a bunch of chocolate shops and going for Italian for dinner.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
touring chocolate shops!?!? any way i can get in on your valentine’s day plans?
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
Doesn’t it sound like heaven?! My husband actually came up with the idea. He knows me too well! You can join me vicariously through my post about it later this weekend 😉
Kait - @runkaitrun says

My husband and I have a nice dinner planned and I also set up a scavenger hunt for him to find a few little gifts! Dessert is paleo molten lava cake!

Ali @ Peaches and Football says
Hahahahaha – I LOVE that Valentine! So cute!
No plans for celebrating tonight – I have to sit in class all night! (boo) But we’re going to try a hibachi place for dinner tomorrow. Seems kinda weird to sit at a table full of complete strangers and eat a dinner, but I’m excited to try some new foods. Happy V-Day to you!
Catherine says
My fiance is military and away on an exercise until the end of the month. So, we celebrated Valentine’s early and tonight I volunteered to babysit my friend’s newborn so that the new parents can celebrate 🙂
Jeanie says

Haha I love that picture of you and Sadie! Happy V-Day to you guys too! No plans for me other than my relaxing morning and Zumba class before school, but I’ve got a “date night” with a friend tomorrow! Random question – how many eggs do you use when you make that bowl? It looks so good and fluffy!

So cute Julie – Happy Valentine’s Day!

Our plans for Valentines Day include my husband finding a recipe, making the recipe and cleaning up the kitchen without one question for me. HEAVEN 🙂
Laurel says
We are trying to go to Leu Gardens for the movie date night, like we did last year on our first date (well we tried…the line was too long so we rented the movie and ate subs in my apt)…here’s to hoping the rain holds out!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Happy VDay to you, Ryan, AND Sadie!! Have a fabulous day! And I am so with you…low-key Valentine’s Days are a must!

Julie! I copied the sign you made for Ryan that said “Now that I’ve kissed the ground you walk on…” and put chocolate kisses leading up to it and my boyfriend absolutely loved it this morning!!!! Thank you thank you so much for sharing that idea!!! It turned out so cute!!!! Keep your great ideas coming!!!

Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Cute Valentine! 🙂 Happy Valentine’s Day!
Have fun this evening with Ryan! It sounds like the perfect low key evening!
Jessica @fromthekitchentotheroad says
We always seem to do big things right before Valentine’s Day and don’t end up doing anything special on the actual day. This year we went on our honeymoon. Two years ago he proposed about 2 weeks before Valentine’s Day. That is fine by me though. As long as I eat chocolate at some point today I’m good.
Carly @ Snack Therapy says
Happy Valentine’s Day to the whole PB Fingers family! I hope Sadie has some fun V-day plans, too : ).
Katie @ running4cupcakes says
I love that Valentine – you guys are such goofs – and I love it! No plans for us today. . we are calling today “Thursday.” 😉 waiting for the weekend to celebrate when we can get a babysitter and maybe go out to dinner!
rachel says
My husband and I don’t really celebrate Valentines Day, but we’ll have a nice dinner together at home 🙂
Can anyone tell me the name of the other choices for this Book Club? Obviously Blackberry Winter has been chosen, but I was interested in one of the others and now can’t find the link or remember the name!!
Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers says
Nope, no plans for me. I’m not a big Vday fan, and the hubby has class tonight anyway. He did offer to take me to ColdStone last night though, but I took a rain check. 🙂
Congrats on the freelance assignment!
Victoria @ Reluctantly Skinny says
Low key valanetine’s days are the best. Restaurants are too busy! We’re actually having dinner with his aunt and cousins tonight, then we usually just exchange cards and a small stupid gift – this year’s gift is dunkin donuts k cups for our new keurig! No need to break the bank!
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
Haha love the Valentine! Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your furball, too! 🙂
No Valentine’s Day plans for this single lady, other than attempting to fall in love with the pool. I’m doing an indoor tri in two weeks (inspired by your indoor tri experience last summer!), and swimming is without question my weakest discipline. Practice makes perfect though, right? So I’ve got a date with the pool, and hopefully we’ll really grow in our relationship today 😛
Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction says
I’m making dinner and a tiramisu! <3
Christine says
I’m making chicken marsala with brown rice and for dessert we are having King Cake from Mississippi. My bestie shipped one up to Boston for me for my birthday! How great is that! My fiance bought me flowers and dinner is my gift to him . Happy Valentines Day!
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
Happy Valentine’s Day! Josh and I are celebrating on Saturday since we both have work and school and live an hour and a half from each other. But my dad is my Valentine’s Day date today, we’re going to see Safe Haven and get coffee from Starbucks! I hope you and Ryan have a wonderful night!
Meghan @ After the Ivy League says
It’s my first Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend, and it was his suggestion to cook dinner for me! I’m heading over tonight, bringing dessert and a movie. Should be a fun night in!
Jen @ Jens Best Life says
Aw, thanks, Sadie 😉 I am all about the low key Valentine’s Day! I think my boyfriend and I will have dinner at home together and then catch up on our favorite shows while cuddling with the dog. As for gifts, I baked brownies in a round pan last night and cut it into a big heart, but gave it to the boyfriend last night because they’d taste better if they were fresher (I have no time to bake today). Turns out King Arthur’s Flour’s brownie mix is the bomb!
Brooke @ Running In Heels says
OMG Sadie!! Too cute! And I love the new picnic v-day themes.. I’ve been using them way too often 🙂
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
I love your valentine’s day tradition with Ryan, such a cute idea! We will be making dinner at home together as well, we aren’t big into the valentines day hype!
Purely Twins says
cute pic!!! Happy Valentines Day!
Susie says
Hey just wondering what kind of chicken sausage you use? I notice you use it in a lot of recipes so I was curious! I bought one brand that was not delicious and wanted to try it again with another brand.
Dana says
Such an adorable picture of you and Sadie!! I love the idea of low-key and fabulous! We did that for our xmas gifts. lol. We have reservations at P.F. Changs tonight. Looking forward to it since we have not been there in at least 5 years…and I have no clue as to why! Love their food! Enjoy your day/night! 🙂
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
Sounds like a wonderful valentines day you have planned! We have reservations for dinner tonight with his family – so double date! but it should be a wonderful time! We are also exchanging cards later…we decided to keep it low key but all I care about is spending time together! 🙂
Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed says
Sadie is SO hilarious! I’m making some chicken parm (made the sauce last night!) and we’re snuggling up on the couch. We are doing some big ticket gifts, but our anniversary is next weekend so they’re for both!
