A valentine made just for you with love from me and crazy Sadie!
We love you guys!
Workout
Today’s workout began with 20 minutes of cardio. I read the latest issue of Fitness magazine (and saw one of Cassey’s tank tops featured!) and finished my time on the stair master feeling warmed up and ready to complete a Best Body Boot Camp workout.
Today’s workout took me through a high intensity circuit that included a lot of exercises that targeted my lower body. I did the same one last week and was sore for two days! I think the side squat to hip abduction deserves all the credit for the soreness! (You can see an example of how to do this exercise at 1:25 in this video by Cathe.)
Breakfast
Shredded cheese stole the show this morning.
I made myself a bowl of scrambled eggs with shredded cheese, chopped peppers and chicken sausage.
Not a bad way to start the day!
I’m planning to work through the morning on my first fitness-related freelance assignment! (NASM folks, the title of the article is “The Return of the Twist” and it’s all about working out in the transverse plane.) Then, around lunchtime, I’m planning to head out to find some fun things for Ryan for Valentine’s Day as part of our $20 Valentine’s Day Mission! I also have a fantastically embarrassing idea for Ryan’s homemade valentine this year, so I need to get that done at some point as well.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Question of the Morning
- Do you have any plans to celebrate Valentine’s Day today?
Ryan and I are planning on making a nice dinner at home together before exchanging our $20 gifts. Low key and fabulous!
Kim says
Backyard camping with smores on the grill and lots of candles with my hubby 🙂
Tamara @ Lively Happenings says
Ooohh I might have to follow your smores idea! Good call!
Lauren @ Rustic Honey says
Low key sounds good to me too! Movie nights are our favorite! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Tamara @ Lively Happenings says
I love Melissa & her hubby’s plan to tour chocolate shops! That would be lovely! $20 gift, Julie, that’s awesome! Also LOVE the pic of you & Sadie!
We are cheap and using gift cards & coupons to go out to Red Lobster to eat 🙂 love being frugal!
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
Happy Valentines Day! I’m cooking dinner tonight for my hubby and kids. I even made little menus for the kids like they’re at a restaurant. Stuffed shells and garlic bread!!

Low key valentines is the way to go for sure. I like that it is just a nice excuse to spend a bit more quality time with your loved ones!

I love your tradition of the $20 mission (poet and I don’t know it? hey girl, heyyy!)! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
We’re actually celebrating it tomorrow since I work till late at night tonight! I think it’s better that way anyway since Valentine’s day is when THE WHOLE U.S. is out and about, haha. Have a great one, you guys!

Plans with my mom include making your Crock Pot Chicken Masala with Chickpeas (she’s working on it while I’m at work), and then I have Worship Team rehearsal for Sunday tonight.
It’s not a big holiday for me.
Kate @ Quarter Century Southern Living says
Oh my goodness, I love this picture of you and Sadie! Our plans for tonight are super low key. Dan and I are going to either make or order pizza, we’ll see how we are feeling after the day is over, and snug with Nola on the couch! 🙂 Aka, I will have my robe on by 7 PM and that makes me very happy!
Lauren says
I loved reading this month’s issue of Fitness. I don’t know how Lucy makes times for everything but the girl meditates and I think I need to start doing it because I just like her whole attitude. Happy Valentine’s Day and I hope you have a great evening together!
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom says
I attempted to bake hot pink chocolate chip cookies, but the food coloring baked out of them so they’re kind of an orangey/brown/pink color (still yummy). I put three in a bag (I have 18 valentine’s 😉 ) and attached a One Direction foil valentine (don’t hate) and have been distributing them all day! I LOVE the idea of just handing out little things to the ones you love. Tonight, I have a lady date with some friends before we go out to the bar and celebrate being friends/being single. I’m really excited, as it’s my first Valentine’s Day as a single lady in 3 years!
Melissa says
We’re doing the exact same thing! $25 gifts and dinner and a movie at home. It’s just too much of a pain to go out on the actual day, especially on a weeknight. Save it for the weekend and spread out the holiday!

I love low key!! My husband and I are also keeping it low key with a homemade Thai food dinner (hopefully it turns out) haha & a picnic by our outside fire place. Simple yet perfect :] happy Vday pretty!
Jess @ Blonde Ponytail says
Happy V-Day to Sadie. Love, Cooper 😉
Pam Cook says
Happy Valentine’s day to you and Sadie! We stay in and celebrate with our 9 year old son. I make a great dinner of grilled steaks with blue cheese butter, baked potatos and a salad. Dessert is a tiramisu from trader joe’s. I love to cook but hate to bake so I am trying out trader joe’s dessert.
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Happy Valentine’s Day! That picture of you and Sadie is just precious! 🙂

It’s a good idea to set a low limit for gifts – it requires creativity. I found an adorable book of love notes (blank), which will be a big improvement from the scrap pieces of paper we use to leave little sweet notes for each other.
Caroline Poe says
I absolutely ADORE the Valentine!!!
Sonja @ The {Happy} Travel Bug says
I decorated the kitchen with all the Valentine’s Day decorations and got my kids and husband yummy treats and cards. Then we ate a heart shaped Mediterranean chicken pizza and red velvet cupcakes with white icing and little red hearts on top. Great day!
Aurielle @ Will2Wellness says
My husband and I celebrated Valentine’s Day the same way we did 10 years ago: with Chinese food and cheap wine! It was all we could afford as college students!
Bek @ Crave says
Love the photo card haha! Sadie is a hoot. Well we didn’t do anything special really yesterday but we did plan a special Saturday night dinner at a fancy restaurant and staying overnight in a hotel after 🙂
