For some bacon (yum, yum, yum)…”

That Timon sure knows how to bust a move!
(Fun fact: I once played the role of Timon in my summer camp’s rendition of The Lion King. 😀 )
Lunch
That little quote and movie clip segue right into my lunch today.
I was achin’ for some bacon in the worst kind of way. Ever since trying MorningStar Farms veggie bacon strips last week, I’ve been cravin’ the pseudo-meat.
Today’s lunch included the veggie bacon in a sandwich with avocado and light Miracle Whip. It was kind of like a BLT, but with some A and no T or L… So it wasn’t really like a BLT at all, I guess. 😉
I did enjoy some Ts on the side though.
Freshly sliced summer squash and Emerald smoked almonds also made an appearance.
Bacon craving = satisfied!
Question of the Afternoon
Were you ever in any plays or musicals?
I was in many plays and musicals from elementary school through middle school. Some of my roles included:
- Timon from The Lion King
- The Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz
- One of Annie Oakley’s sisters in Annie Get Your Gun
- An Elf in The Shoemaker and the Elves
- Chip in Beauty and the Beast
I would tell you about my roles in my dance performances, but they’re not quite as impressive.(Think drop of dew on a poppy in The Wizard of Oz. Yes, I actually was a drop of water.)
Jessica @ How Sweet says
I was in musicals, too! Absolutely LOVED them.
Julie @ Pickley Pear says
I love bacon of any sort – real, fake, turkey, chicken, you name it! Your sandwich looks amazing. BLT’s are my favorite, including anything that may even remotely come close to it!
Naomi (onefitfoodie) says
hmm i was never in musicals…but dance recitals! ohh bles my parents heart they went to about 15 of them hahaa
mmm avocado in sandwiches is so so so good!!
Courtney @ Three Months says
Unfortunately, no! I’m from a super small town, so musicals were nowhere to be found. I would have loved to dance – but singing is definitely not my forte!

Ya know the Can You Feel the Love Tonight…I had a solo in 5th grade..the part “I can see what’s happening, and they don’t have a clue…theyll fall in love and heres the bottom line…our trios down to 2”
Good times.
I was also an elf once.

Marilyn says
I was a “townsperson” in Annie Get Your Gun in 6th grade…very prestigious role 😉 My only task: sitting on a bench pretending to read a book.
Connie says
i know you love peanut butter, so have you ever tried an egg/egg white and peanut butter sandwich? i know it sounds gross, but i swearrrr it’s amazing. i usually make it on an english muffin, but the sandwich flats would work perfectly i’m sure. if you haven’t tried it, please do!!
Katie@ Two Lives, One Lifestyle says
Those almonds are so addictive, I just tried some at my aunt’s house. I was in a bunch of musicals, love them! My favorite part was as a hot box girl in Guys and Dolls.

I needed that video today, thanks for lightening the mood. Everything is better in a hula skirt.
I was the star in all my elementary school musicals, then my star quickly faded, lol.
Home videos of kids in musicals are classic!

What a pretty, colorful lunch!
When I was in pre-school, I got to play Rudolph in our class play. I still remember it from all those years ago – I was so psyched to have the red nose! 😛
peanutbutterfingers says
i was rudolph in a xmas talent show. 🙂
Meg says
The Lion King is hands down one of the best movies of all time 🙂
that veggie bacon sounds really good, I wonder if it’s gluten free. I’ll have to check it out 🙂 Sammie sounds awesome! BETTER than a BLT, how about that?

I went to a Christian middle school…so I was a lot of angels, flames in a fire (WHAT?), Bible characters (Jezebel)…I’ve done it all!
Have fun scubadiving this weekend!!

Hahaha I love that you played Timone! I was Marty in Greece once, someone else in Bye Bye Birdy, and an Angel in our schools Passion Play.

My high school choir competed and put on musicals every spring! During my 3 years, we put on productions of Aida, Fiddler on the Roof, and Lil’ Abner. It was my whole world in high school! I’m a proud chorus nerd 🙂
erica says
i was in a musical and i was a flashlight…weird, i know. i was also the inn-keeper in a christmas program.
Sara says
Have you tried peanut butter with your bacon? My husband loves peanut butter and fake bacon sandwiches. I’m not a huge fan.
I was never in any musicals, but played Goldilocks in my first grade play. Had to eat oatmeal onstage that was cold and disgusting. The experience made me hate oatmeal until I was an adult and tried it again hot!
peanutbutterfingers says
interesting combo! no i haven’!
Amber K says
Only in grade school, but I love them!
Although, are those the lyrics?
I always thought he was answering him!
“are you achin’?”
“yup, yup, yup”
“for some bacon?”
“yup yup yup” etc.
peanutbutterfingers says
you’re probably right… i dunno! i mess up words all the time. 🙂
Amber K says
lol, so do I! I’m always finding out WAY after the fact what the real lyrics are to different songs. So nothing surprises me.
Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman says
I always wanted to be cast in our school musicals but I’m a horrible singer and dancer. It’s actually kind of pathetic!
Kelly says
HAHA! Yes actually I was. I was in my high school production of Anything Goes. I was a partner dancer…woo hoo!
Miranda @ MirandasJeans says
When I was in grade 6 for my Christmas play I was cast for the role of Mary in the Nativity Scene. The next year I played the role of the grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas in my towns Santa Clause Parade. Quite the wide range of acting skills if I may say so myself. lol
Monique@She's Going The Distance says
bacon (of any kind) and avocado always go together sooooo well 🙂
TheKetchupDiaries says
Here’s one for you: Mr. KD has NEVER SEEN The Lion King. I know – pure blasphemy!!!!!
Maura says
Haha I was in a bunch of plays when I was younger…Guys & Dolls, The Wizard of Oz and (randomly) Cinderella. I was actually cast as Cinderella in 8th grade which I was soo pumped about, just to find out that they cast MY BROTHER as The Prince! Talk about MORTIFYING!!!
