My love for dippy eggs was only further solidified after today’s lunch!
I placed two dippy eggs on top of a bowl full of steamed spinach and roasted Brussels sprouts drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with garlic salt.
I loved the way the two runny yolks coated the veggies, giving them a fantastic flavor and a punch of protein.
On the side I ate a cup of Greek yogurt topped with honey and about a third of a bag of popcorn because I wanted something salty once I finished off my yogurt.
I actually snacked on the popcorn at my desk while working and now I think I need to clean my keyboard. Not the brightest move.
The Hunger Games Movie
Back in February last year, I read The Hunger Games trilogy.
The Hunger Games was recommended to me by my former coworker and book blogger, Lisa. Before looking into it, I initially thought The Hunger Games was some kind of a non-fiction book about eating based on the title alone. (Remember this was February last year, before all the hoopla started!)
I was completely hooked from the beginning and am anxiously awaiting the debut of the movie on Friday!
Today a bunch of movie reviews were published in magazines and newspapers after critics had the chance to view the movie early and, as someone who usually doesn’t pay much attention to movie reviews, I found myself reading quite a few this afternoon!
Many of the articles believe The Hunger Games movie stays true to the book. Quite a few also said that the movie far upstages Twilight. I read all of the Twilight books and am not exactly a fan of Bella, so I’m rooting for Katniss to reign supreme!
I don’t usually get super excited for movies but The Hunger Games movie is definitely an exception. Ryan and I read The Hunger Games together, so I think we’re both pumping each other up about the movie which is getting me even more amped.
I know we’re not alone out there and that many of you are fans of the books, so today’s questions are centered around The Hunger Games…
Questions of the Afternoon: Hunger Games Edition
- Are you pumped to see The Hunger Games movie this weekend?
- Do the previews make you think the movie has the potential to do the book justice?
- Team Peeta or Team Gale?
Peeta all the way.

I’m actually in charge of a Hunger Games Trivia Night that a nonprofit networking group I’m part of is holding tonight after work…I’m totally going to be Effie sans the pink wig.
Yay for Team Peeta!
Sihomara says
I’m SOOOO excited to see this movie. I was fortunate enough to win 4 tickets to see the movie. UNFORTUNATELY, I can only redeem the tickets Sun-Thurs at a specific theatre in Las Vegas and I’m going out of town Thurs evening so I can’t watch the show until after the weekend!!!! I’m sooo bummed abou this!
The movie looks like it’s going to be great! I love Jennifer Lawrence. She’s an amazing actress, and I think she’ll do Katniss Everdeen justice.
I was team Gale from the beginning! Even more so now that I see who is playing him in the movie! What a hottie!!!
Nicole says
I have tickets to the VIP theater to see it Friday night with my husband and I.cannot.wait. The previews def got me excited about the movie! Aaaand I think I have to go with team Gale, he’s such a stud!
Amanda says
I just finished the book about 3 weeks ago and cannot wait for the movie! I watched the trailers 1000 times! It was recommended to me by several people and when I heard the plot, I didn’t think I’d ever read it. But I gave in and am completely obsessed!
Lisa @Read.Breathe.Relax. says
Thanks for the shoutout, Julie! I’m SO pumped to see this movie!! I’m going to the midnight showing (I will be dying on Friday).
Can’t wait to hear what you think about it! 😀
Krysta says
This post totally reminded me that the Hunger Games come out this weekend! Yahoo! I’m not usually one to brave the crowds on opening weekend (I like an empty theater), but I think I might suck it up this time.
Also, one of my favorite things to eat is a veggie bowl topped with dippy eggs! So delicious.
Merri says
So this is about the only topic I can focus on during Hunger Games Week so I’m happy you brought it up!!
1) Are you pumped to see The Hunger Games movie this weekend?
– YES!! I bought my tickets one month ago for the 12:02am showing on Thursday.
2) Do the previews make you think the movie has the potential to do the book justice?
– hard to day – the book is almost always better than the movie but they did a fantastiv job choosing the actors and I’ve watched the previews about a dozen times, so I have high hopes!!
3)Team Peeta or Team Gale?
– totally Team Peeta!!! At first I was a definte Gale fan but as time went on (epsecially on book 2) I became such a Peeta fan! (The name also reminds me of a certain someone)
2.5 more days!!!
Jessica says
I’m so excited for the movie! I already have tickets to go Friday right after work. I’m really hoping the movie stays true to the book. So many times movies based on books are such a let down but the previews for the Hunger Games are giving me a lot of hope.
Team Peeta all the way!! 🙂
Casey says
I just bought my ticket last night for the 12:30am showing 🙂 I’m a bit of a fan. I read all 3 books in a week during Christmas this year (I know, I was a little late in reading them). And I know I’m in the minority by saying this, but I’m team Gale (even though I know the outcome). It makes it even harder not to be by the actor that’s playing him. Let’s be real, Liam is a stud and AUSTRALIAN.
Laurel says
Peeta. No Contest.
Elizabeth @ Chocolate Drops and Pearls says
Oh I LOVE the Hunger Games! I am soo excited to see the movie but don’t think I will be able to see it for a few weeks which is a total bummer!
I think the movie looks like it has the potential I am just curious to see how they will play out the capital and the arena and if they will make it as gory as parts of the book.
I am all for team PEETA!!! It doesn’t hurt that the actor is extremely cute either 😉
Megan says
SO PUMPED! I will be at the midnight showing on the movie and I cannot wait. Based on what i’ve heard, I really feel like it will be a good movie. I’m definitely on Team Gale :] I actually pictured Peeta completely different from how is portrayed in the movies. Kinda chubby and “wussy” as compared to the actor they chose. I was really drawn to Gale’s strength, but who knows movies tend to change my opinion of characters :]
Jillian says
This is my first comment! I love your blog! I made your peanut butter granola this morning its delicious I intended to save some for a snack later tonight but that just didn’t happen. I loved the hunger games, read the 3 books in a couple of days. I can not wait to see the movie! So much so that I am not working friday afternoon and have debated going alone while everyone else is at work! The previews make me really excited to see it and I think it will do the book justice. I am so team Gale! Although I loved Peeta to but I don’t think they did the greatest job casting him for the movie (look wise) not what I pictured at all but maybe I will be surprised! Can’t wait to here what you think of the movie!
Sarah K. @ The Pajama Chef says
i’m so excited for the movie!! i read the book in january in one 5 hour car trip… craziness. then i convinced my husband to read it. he resisted, but then 3 wks later he caved. i read the other two books within a month, but neither was as captivating as the first! my husband actually surprised me a few wks ago with purchasing tickets for the midnight showing. i’ve never been to a movie premiere like that, so i can’t wait! and i’m conflicted about peeta and gale… i’m curious if the movie will sway me. if i absolutely had to pick, i’d go with gale, but i’m not sure.
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
I’m so excited to see The Hunger Games! My husband is not a reader, but even he’s interested from seeing the previews!
Carol @ Lucky Zucca says
I’m dying to see it!! I wanted to go at midnight, but none of my friends would go at midnight with me! I’m going Friday after work & I can’t wait!
Ashley O. @ The Vegetable Life says
I just bought the first book of the trilogy and can’t wait to start reading it tonight! I hope I get hooked so when it comes out on DVD I can get all excited to watch it! I don’t want to ruin the book and see the movie first so I am going to try and wait!
Melissa Davis says
I read all the books before the big hype of everything. My cousin has her masters in library science. She knew that I just finished reading the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series and thought I’d like these books. She was right. She hasn’t steered me wrong with any book recommendations.
I’m pretty confident that the movie will stay true to the book because the book isn’t that long (not like Harry Potter). I think that if the movie gets a fantastic turnout and rave reviews that they will possibly make the second and third books into movies as well (I’d love to have all the HG DVDs).
Go Team Peeta!
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
Team Peeta! Can’t wait!
Meisha says
Me and my best friend are taking off of work early on Friday to go see the Hunger Games. We are so excited! She has read the whole series and I have just finished the first book. It was so good I read the whole thing in 1 day. I think that the movie is going to do the book justice.
Also, I love your dippy eggs! I think it is THE perfect name for them and whenever I see them on your blog, I cant help but smile.
Emma says
a) Yes I’m pumped! I’m going to a midnight showing!
b) I really hope it does it justice – it looks like it might!
c) I was Team Gale for the longest time, but after finishing book three I just don’t know. . .
d) I’m totally have a “dippy” egg on top of some roasted veggies tonight for dinner. Thanks for the inspiration!! 🙂
Angela says
Team Peeta all the way! I absolutely inhaled the series, during finals week of my senior year of college, no less! Can’t wait for the movie. The trailer looks great too.
Margaret @ Have A Good Run says
SO excited for this movie. The only bad thing about it is that as soon as I watch the first movie, I’m going to want to watch the second one right after!
Kelsey Y. says
Yes! Well, I’m hoping to see it into next week so my boyfriend will be able to join me. I think he became excited from all my talk about it.
I do feel the movie will do justice for the book, especially since Suzanne Collins was/is a screenwriter, so she was able to go back and edit the book into the movie script! I think its awesome.
And Team Gale. I mean, Peeta gains liking. But there is just something about Gale…
And I’m thinking I’ll be having eggs for dinner now!!
janet says
Saw movie at a press screening last week … Very very good!
Team Peeta!!!!!
Holly says
Thanks for the linkback Julie 😀
I think you know it’s me, Holly (old blog: Greek Yogurt & Apple Slices), but just wanted you to know that I’m the same person 🙂 Just decided I needed a fresh start!
I am TOTALLY pumped to see the movie!! It’s going to be SO good! I’m Team Peeta.
Erin says
I also read the hunger games before they were really popular. I’m going to the Midnight showing this week and I can’t wait. I’m Team Gale 🙂
Heidi says
I am totally pumped to see the movie! I even bought a t-shirt. I hope the movie isn’t a disappointment and I’m for Peeta all the way!
Fiona @ Well-Fed Redhead says
I am SO excited for the movie to come out! Like you, I read the books before I even knew there was a movie coming out. I really really really hope the movie is good, but I know I will enjoy it even if it is Twilight-caliber because I feel such strong attachment to the characters. I definitely would like it better if it was more Lord of the Rings that Twilight though…
Team Peeta for sure!
Cheryl says
I have never read any books or saw any movies of Twilight, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, Hobbits (or whatever they’re called), or anything remotely related.
You can go ahead and start throwing tomatoes now. I’m wearing my tomato shield.
Raquel @ Toned, Tan, Fit & Techie says
Man I WISH I could like runny eggs! They always look so good but the smell, concept, and taste of them turns me off completely! They always look so good though!
Michelle (Better with Berries) says
Can’t wait for the Hunger Games! I’m going to the midnight premier on Thursday night!
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
Oh dippy eggs <3 I've been all about them lately and actually just polished off two as part of my dinner!
I'm SO excited for The Hunger Games to come out. I read the book after reading your blog posts about it and absolutely loved it. GO TEAM PEETA!
Carissa says
OMG I CAN’T WAIT!!! I have about 20% of the MockingJay left and I’m kinda sad. I hated all the Twilight obesssion and “team” junk so I just want to enjoy the movie…meaning I will have to wait until next weekend to see it. But AH so excited!
Hillary says
I’m a middle school teacher, and HG frenzy has hit HARDCORE this week. It’s definitely rubbing off on me, too—I’m going to see it on Sunday!
Brandi @ Faith Fitness and Laughter says
I picked up the People magazine that is devoted to The Hunger Games and I think that I am hooked. 🙂 I am going to order the first book now!
Laura @ Backstage Balance says
I’m pretty excited about the film release as well! Thursday evening, I’m heading to a 21+ iPic where they serve alcohol and the theaters have reserved seating. My friend and I are going to the Midnight showing!
I’m really not on either team (Peeta or Gale) – I’m just rooting for Katniss!
Sarah says
I am so excited for the movie. I actually already bought my ticket. When I see the trailers I get even more excited cause they seem pretty close to the book. I am so torn between Peeta and Gale. I guess I lean more towards Gale. ☺
Julie I love your blog it’s very fun and inspirational. I’ve been reading for a long time but this is my first time commenting.
Lily says
So PUMPED for Hunger Games! We are going at midnight with all of the tweens.
Lauren @ Part Time House Wife says
I am DYING to see it.. I’m a little nervous that the movie won’t do the books justice tho. I like perserving the characters the way I imagined them…
I had a really hard time with the love triangle because I loved both guys.. But I was happy with who she ends up with.
Haley says
I was going to ask you if you were planning on going yesterday!! Haha!! I can NOT wait! I bought my ticket a month ago with friends and I had not yet read the books! I just started reading two days ago and I am finishing up tonight! AHH!! Can not wait!! I am getting a HUGE cup of coffee from Starbucks so that I won’t have to worry about tiredness for the midnight premier! But I’m pretty sure I will be so into, there will be no falling asleep in the theater! (:
briana says
team peeta! I loved the first 2 books and the third is just starting to seem good!
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
I’m definitely a Peeta fan, too – but I wish the actors playing Gale and Peeta were switched because I think Gale is cuter than Peeta in the movie! Maybe that will change after I actually see the movie, though. And I’m with you – definitely not a fan of Bella in Twilight, and even less of a fan of Kristen Stewart…
Stephanie says
I loved The Hunger Games! I bought my midnight ticket, if you want to learn about how they cast and how they created the sets there are behind-the-scenes books.
Heather says
I cannot WAIT! I will be on a cruise this weekend so i will miss opening day! I am team Gale all the way.
Katie says
I am so freaking excited for this movie! I feel like I’m little again waiting for Harry Potter movies to come out. I feel like they will do the books justice. Obviously there will be changes but I’m sure that it was done well, luckily its not a way long book so they don’t have to cut out a bunch of stuff.
Oh and this girl is so team Peeta!!!
Lauren says
Thanks for the shout out girl! 🙂
Yellow Haired Girl says
I’m going Saturday and I CANNOT WAIT. Team Peeta!!
Kristen says
Team Peeta!!!
You have totally won me over, not only are you a Knight, have Awesome recipes, but now this… Yay!
Holly @ Pink Runner says
Just bought tickets to see it Saturday night. I am finishing book 2 tonight… I really like them… but I have to say I’m still a major Twi-hard! Even though Bella was kinda whinny, Katniss is not my favorite character. Definitely Team Peeta (but he still can’t replace my Edward!)
