Our Sunday night in a nutshell:
Apple fritter bread!
I made the bread from scratch following a recipe I found via Pinterest on the blog Flour Me with Love.
As a big-time fan of apple fritters, the bread called to me and I set out to make it last night. I had no idea how labor-intensive this recipe was until I started.
It was a big pain in the butt to make, but tasted delicious in the end. (If you decide to make it, I had to add nearly an extra 1/2 cup of flour to the bread dough to get it to form into a ball. I also used four large apples instead of six which seemed like plenty.)
Workout
On our drive to the gym this morning, I really wasn’t in the mood to work out, but after 20 minutes on the elliptical, my exercise mojo started kicking in and I ended up starting the day with a decent workout.
Ryan and I both use the elliptical warm up trick all the time. When we’re sleepy and not fully awake, mindlessly pedaling away on the elliptical for 10 to 20 minutes wakes us up and gets our blood flowing. I have a hard time arriving at the gym and kicking my butt right away, so easing into a workout is ideal.
Today’s workout included 20 minutes on the elliptical followed by a leg workout that included the following exercises:
- Squats
- Deadlifts
- Lunges
- Hamstring ball curls
- Single leg deadlifts
- Bridges
Breakfast
I knew my breakfast would include a slice of apple fritter bread, but I tried to amp it up a bit with something higher in protein.
Hello, hummus scrambled eggs!

Question of the Morning
- Do you take time to warm up with light cardio or stretch before your workouts or do you get goin’ right away?

I saw you post a picture of the apple fritter bread and was dying to hear how it turned out!! Glad to know it tasted good – now I’m itching to make it 🙂
And whether I warm up with light cardio depends on my mood – I usually just go with the flow since it’s early in the morning when I workout and don’t feel like thinking 🙂 haha

i try to kick off every workout i can with cardio. i think my heart rate stays up higher if i get myself kicked into gear with a few minutes on the treadmill first!
that apple fritter bread is insanity. i love apple fritters so i might need to make that immediately.

Making this for my husband and me next weekend! I always start a workout with a 5 minute warmup – usually speed walking. This way my body is warmed up and I don’t get any cramps or soreness.

I think the apple fritter bread looks amazing!! And I definitely do stretching and a light warm up before working out. I find I can run better if I go on the elliptical first!

Oh my goodness! That apple fritter bread looks delicious! 🙂 I’m definitely going to have to make that sometime. Looks like it would be a great alternative to apple pie!

I always walk about a mile around my neighborhood before starting my workout. Good thing it’s early cuz people might think I’m drunk! It is a closed neighborhood with not a lot of traffic so I take advantage and walk backwards for part of it.
Also, if you are experiencing high humidity in FL then that might be the reason for your need to add flour. I live by the coast in deep south TX and it is common to need additional flour in our baked goods.
Enjoying your blog!

This bread looks evil! But oh so good!
As for my workouts, when it’s a weight day, I jump on the ellipticle for just about 5 minutes to get my heart going and my muscles going. I’ve heard that if you start weights when your muscles are still cold, there is a much better chance of injury.
