Last night Ryan and I enjoyed a fun date night together!
Ryan wanted to take me to the Artisanal Dish, a gourmet European-inspired café/ grocery store hybrid, after he heard that they serve high-quality, organic fare.
The Artisanal Dish is like a scaled down Whole Foods with fancy prepared foods, a comfy café and less of a supermarket feel.
(The above picture is taken from their website because I didn’t want to disturb the diners last night since it’s a small establishment.)
Their menu changes daily depending on what fresh food they have available at the time. I was pumped to see seared scallops available and ordered them atop a green salad.
I ordered the salad with the balsamic dressing which came on the side. I immediately dumped all of it on my salad after taking a taste and falling in love.
On the side I also ate a wedge of their famous homemade macaroni and cheese which is basically a pie of gourmet cheese with some noodles thrown in for good measure.
Unreal, right? As a serious cheese lover, I was in heaven!
Ryan got a salad and a sloppy joe sandwich made with their humanely raised Wagyu beef that was also incredible.
While waiting for our meals to come out, we browsed around the wine and beverage section where I was immediately drawn to herbal-infused sparking water.
I got a bottle of Ayala’s ginger lemon peel sparkling water while Ryan opted for the cinnamon orange peel flavor.
Hands down the best sparking water I’ve ever tried.
Why does it have to be $2 a bottle?
I swear if that stuff came out of the tap, I would have no problems drinking tons of water every day.
After our dinner date, we came home, changed into our pajamas and watched A Few Good Men. Ryan DVRed the movie a couple of weeks ago and neither of us had ever seen it so we were excited to watch.
“You want the truth!? You can’t handle the truth!”
We both liked it a lot.
Demi Moore’s hair in that movie reminded me a bit of Hey Arnold’s (aka “football head”) hair. It was stylin’!
And speaking of football, I hope you’re enjoying Super Bowl Sunday!
I’m impressed you mentioned Demi Moore without mentioning all the chaos going on with her lately. So sad!!
oh my goodness gracious, that mac ‘n cheese wedge looks incredible!! i love the sounds (and looks!) of this place… wish we had one nearby!
That Mac and cheese looks like cheesy heaven! I wish we had an Artisinal Dish up here I the northeast. I agree about the sparkling water! And I write that as I sit here sipping on some of my own.

And I LOVE that one-shouldered top! So cute!
That place looks fantastic! I love little restaurants that use quality ingredients like that!
Oh. My. God.
That is food porn at its best. Well done, Julie!
That looks like a great date! Also, I LOVE your top and necklace. So pretty!
you looked super pretty! I am such a fan of turquoise and black-classy and simple. Glad you enjoyed a great date night!
I love when restaurants put a spin on classic dishes- that mac & cheese wedge looks divine!
I would be in glory with that mac n cheese! I bet it was yummy washing it down that sparkling water – I love unique sparkling waters!
Saw this and thought you might like it. http://www.tasteandtellblog.com/2012/02/red-velvet-cheese-ball/
Sometimes I want to go back and watch all of the older movies I’ve never seen. But I tried to watch a few and I just cringe inside when I see really old technology and the general old look to them. I swear CGI and new stuff has totally warped my eyes!
Wow, that mac and cheese looks incredible! Very cool looking place! We had a date night last night, which ended with Coldstone ice cream. Yum! 🙂
That mac & cheese looks to die for. And you are spot on with the Demi hair and with Arnold. Too funny!!
That sparkling water sounds great 🙂
Hi Julie. Where did you get that turquoise necklace? It would be perfect with my bachelorette party dress. If you could fill me in that would be great. Thanks!
That place looks incredibly cute!
I’ve never seen A Few Good Men either, although I’ve sure heard of it! And that place looks so cool, I love grocery stores/restaurants, it’s fun to browse their products!
Your skin always look amazing! I wash my face right after a workout but I am still breaking out. I never had a problem before I started working out so I’ve never tried any other cleansers/routines. Any tips/ideas or recommendations of products?
Thanks!
Okay, that mac and cheese pie looks heavenly! And that place looks so cute!
I sooo wish we had one of those types of restaurants here in Rochester, NY!! We had something similar at one of our local grocery stores, Wegmans, but they closed it because prices were too high so they weren’t making enough money to keep it running but they put in a lower priced, high end “fast food”ish type place. Wegmans is no Whole Foods but they have Nature’s Market which is kind of a health store within a store. They carry all kinds of organic, soy, gluten free and other “-free” foods that you find at Whole Foods stores. I know Wegmans now has stores all over the east coast and are adding more and more every year. It truly is a one stop shopping experience!
P.S. When will you be announcing Feb book club selection??
That sparking water looks awesome! And so does the rest of your meals (mac and cheese slice, um I could probably eat that every day).
Also I’ve never really seen a few good men either, but I’m in law school and they play clips of it in class all the time. Totally random but whenever I think of that movie or my cousin vinney I think of law school. The only two movies they every play clips of in class.
I hope you, Ryan and Sadie have an awesome Sunday!!
a mac & cheese pie?!?! i need to try that. that looks like cheese heaven!
That mac n cheese looks incredible! At first I thought it was some octopus thing but in fact, it’s very nice to have it that way, like a slice of pie you know.
super bowl plans, darling?
i love your one-arm black shirt/dress? and that mac & cheese….kill me now
I love sparkling water! I went to an open house recently where they were giving out complimentary bottles of La Croix. A bottle or two may have made its way into my purse…lol
That sparkling water sounds delicious. I need that mac & cheese pie right now please!
that mac and cheese looks DANGEROUS!
Julie, your blog posts make me laugh so much sometimes! Matt (my husband) is obsessed with Ocala and with A few Good Men. I feel like we watch it at least once a month. He’s at the point where he can quote the whole thing 🙂 Glad you are having fun up there! Maybe I’ll see you and Les next weekend at the half marathon.
hi julie! do you think you could try and recreate the mac and cheese dish?! ill bet you’d do really in creating something!
Looks like you guys had a wonderful time on your date. 🙂
I haven’t watched A Few Good Men in such a long time, but I really do like the movie.
I love how the noodles in the Mac n cheese look like circles, like spagetti o’s!
Oh Man, Im probably better off not having Mac & Cheese like that around here! Holy GOOOODNESS!
Julie, did you see the visla on the VW super bowl commercial?! It looked just like Sadie!
New watch?! Cute!
What a fun date night! That macaroni and cheese looks heavenly 🙂
Looks like one amazing dinner!
my husband has seen that movie at least a dozen times, but he never misses an opportunity to watch it or dvr it when it comes on tv. and he pretty much knows the entire movie’s dialogue by heart, especially anything Jack Nicholson says. it’s hilarious!
I am beyond jealous that you have a cafe/grocery like this near you. Everything looks and sounds wonderful. I hope you two really enjoyed your date night!
You make me hungry just glancing at this blog sometimes! The mac and cheese wedge looks incredible. 🙂 yum!
