Tonight Ryan, Sadie and I are heading to Jacksonville (<— super old post!) to spend the weekend with friends. I’m really looking forward to a fun barbeque tomorrow and time at the beach!
We’ll be making the two-hour drive to Jacksonville once my sister arrives in town and Ryan gets off work. Gotta love carpooling!
Since Sadie likely won’t get her evening walk, I decided to make her morning walk a little longer than usual and took her on an hour-long trek after breakfast.
Hikes in Ocala are never dull. Look at the little guys we saw today!
Baby alligators!
We almost didn’t see the three baby gators, but I decided to walk to the end of the one side of a long dock that I normally skip and I’m glad I did! No mama gator was in sight and we went along our merry way unscathed.
When I returned home, it was back to work before taking a break around noon to make myself a smoothie.
Lunch
Ryan and I didn’t stock up on a ton of food for this week since we knew we weren’t going to be here this weekend, so there wasn’t much to work with when lunchtime rolled around.
I ended up making a filling smoothie because we did have food in the freezer!
Into the blender went:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 cup almond milk
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter (<— best part!)
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 large handful fresh spinach
I also polished off the remaining watermelon we had in the fridge.
Back to work before packing up and heading out!
Any fun plans this weekend? Feel free to share!
And remember, no plans are often the best plans.
Just ask Sadie.

My favorite plan for this weekend is climbing to a mountain peak on Sunday to see the eclipse!

Hi Julie, love your blog! Can I ask what hotel you stayed at in your previous Jacksonville blog? I saw that it was on the beach and I will be visiting that area from the UK soon and need some inspiration! Thanks!

That’s so neat! I always love hearing about common animals to see in different areas because it always baffles me…. Australia – kangaroo. Wisconsin- deer (boring), etc.
