I feel like I’m back in high school today.
First, I’m at my parents’ house, studying at the kitchen table.
Second, I had a very high school-esque lunch.
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich + Yogurt + Fruit
It was back to basics with this lunch!
As I was studying for my personal training certification this morning, I stumbled upon some information that was rather familiar to me.
Drugs!
In my previous job, I worked as the content team manager for a large website and wrote about medications every day. Oh beta-blockers and nitrates, how I’ve missed you! After working my way through a few chapters saturated with science terminology that was rather intimidating, it felt nice to read about medications today and feel like I was in familiar territory. Who knew reading about the classifications of medications would excite me?
I initially planned to drive back to Ocala after publishing my morning blog post, but my plans changed following a little miscommunication with my dentist office. I’m glad I packed my study materials!
I thought my dentist appointment this morning included a check up on a filling that was causing me some pain and my biannual cleaning, but apparently the cleaning wasn’t on the books. After I left the dentist this morning, I got a call informing me that an appointment for a cleaning opened up late this afternoon.
Back to the dentist, I go! The dentist two times in one day? Lucky girl, right here.
Question of the Afternoon
- What did a typical lunch look like for you in high school?

Sadly I have to admit that McD’s was my go-to lunch in high school. I loved quarter pounders with cheese + fries… that could explain the terrible weight gain. Needless to say, I wasn’t popular with the guys in high school!! Luckily, I figured out that I felt better after eating salads than after Big Macs.

Yikes, I hate the dentist! I am a oral hygiene freak, but the dentist is torture for me. Especially teeth cleanings, isnt there a way they can eliminate the scar
Ing noise from the metal on tooth!

2 times in one day? I think you’ve been enough for the both of us. Phew ahha. Even though that’s a basic lunch looks yum and I love how you’re not stingey with the pb 😉

Funny thing– I AM still in high school! Whenever I have time to actually make a good lunch, I like taking hummus and veggie wraps + an apple. When I’m feeling lazy, I throw some dry cereal into a Tupperware and take a couple pieces of fruit, then buy a milk to go along with it. 🙂

Love me some studying. I’m a sustainability major and after taking a few core classes there is always a repeat section in my textbook. What an awesome feeling to get to something familiar!
How are you enjoying being back in school mode?

I always skipped lunch (and breakfast) in high school. :-/

I love following your NASM journey! I’m considering studying and taking the test to supplement my current career, and hoping that it will provide me some flexibility in careers in a few years.
When I was in high school I always packed a turkey sandwich on wheat with cheese and lettuce, pretzels or Sun Chips, and a piece of fruit. It was pretty plain-Jane, but I still love that lunch to this day!

Nice! Gotta love PB&J! I just passed the NASM CPT exam so if you have any questions or would like to chat about it, just let me know!

Oh wow, good luck on the studying! My typical lunch in high school was: ham+cheese sandwich + fruit + pretzels + pudding snack. Sometimes I’d give away parts of my lunch and buy a slice of Papa John’s with my friends. My mom would have killed me, ha!

PB&J – going back to basics, love it. But seriously, best combination/meal ever….
Love your blog!

I am also studying for the NASM certification. I am not as far along as you. I haven’t taken a test or studied for anything in a very long time. It is a lot to learn. Good luck. BTW, I am so addicted to peanut butter. Nice to find someone who likes it as much as I do.
