I spent a good 30 minutes in the backyard playing fetch with Sadie before Ryan got home from work.
Once Ryan got home, we leashed Sadie up for a 2.5 mile walk around the neighborhood.
All three of us were super hot on this walk. Holy humidity! Sadie’s tongue practically touched the ground about five minutes into the trek.
Dinner
On the menu tonight was bacon and Asiago cheeseburgers with roasted cauliflower.
Ryan tended to the grill (he’s the meat man, afterall), while I prepped the condiments and veggies.
Ryan made our burgers with lean ground beef and we topped them with MorningStar Farms veggie bacon strips, ketchup, mustard, relish, spinach, grape tomato slices and Connoisseur Asiago cheese spread.
Who knew a bacon cheeseburger could actually be healthy?
This meal tasted indulgent, but consisted of fresh veggies, lean meats and whole grains. Score!
I’m off to hang with Ryan and his cousin for a bit and watch So You Think You Can Dance (dance, dance, dance…). 😀
See ya in the mornin’!
I can’t take the 2 hours!! I need my bed at 9!! I have to DVR and watch on the weekend = I’m the lamest person you know.
My husband and I are lame too. Always in bed by 9 in order to wake up on time! Thank God for DVRs!
Yay for bacon! 🙂
Oh I love So You Think You Can Dance. I’d love to have Cat’s job 😉
pshhh wouldn’t we all!?
ash – that looks delicious and i love that show. i’m sad i’ll miss half of it tonight. well i suppose not really. it’s so i can go meet friends at a piano bar 🙂
I love making healthy versions of burgers! It always feels like a small victory against restaurant chains that have 1500+ calorie burgers on the menu.
It’s amazing what one can do with some good food and an imagination! I fully believe you can make ANY food healthy! 🙂
Looks delish! I love when I meal involves the men using their grilling skills 🙂
burgers are so great! and best thing about them—taste just as good as fattening burgers!
Hi Julie,
I love your blog and look forward to all your posts. I just gave you an award on my blog. I don’t want to be one of those people who leaves links in comments, but I did want to let you know.
Cheers,
Bella
Sweeeet burgers! Healthified, even better 😉 Have I mentioned how much I adore Sadie?
Hi! I have been researching a good running companion, I have a few questions for you about Ms. Sadie. Do you crate her? If so how long? Like do you let her out at lunch? Is she hyper in the house? I’m so nervous about getting a big dog with lots of energy. Thanks so much!
we don’t crate her & i used to go home at lunch to let her out until she was around 1 yr. old, which i really think helped w/ potty training. now she’s totally fine on her own while we’re at work, though oftentimes we’ll come home to find all of her toys all over the apt! she’s SUPER hyper in the house. if you’re concerned about a high-energy dog, vizslas are definitely among the craziest – but they’re the BEST!!! 🙂 (this youtube video spells it out pretty well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSm5-e7uga4 )
loveee SYTYCD! who’s your favorite?!
I love healthy burgers 🙂 Soon I’ll be making a turkey one, probably stuffed with goat cheese. can’t wait 🙂
I didn’t like that bacon when I tried it, but you are making me want to give it a sceond chance.
And FYI, Amy’s All American burger, (vegetarian,) tastes very, very similiar to a regular burger. When I top it with all the fixin’s I can’t tell the difference. In case you want to try it, I have only been able to find it at Whole Foods. You probably have different grocery stores though so maybe one of them would carry it.
sounds yummy!
I am loving burgers lately. This is a great way to make your burger healthy!
Where you last night when my hubs was craving a big fat juicy burger? I’ll def have to share this recipe. Love the asiago cheese spread, fabulous idear.
Good job healthifying a burger, I bet it was great!
What is that Sadie is chewing on?
it was an oblong tennis ball… but she removed the neon yellow coating. 🙂
ahh – thanks. We are always looking for new dog toys! We use tennis balls for fetch, but our dogs pop them really quickly if we let them chew.
Yay!! I can still enjoy bacon cheeseburgers!!!!
What kind of bread are you using with your burger?
an Arnold whole wheat sandwich thin – so tasty!
Mmm, I need to try those! Thank you!
