Pancakes are one of life’s little gifts in the morning. They’re fluffy and fun and delicious but more often than not, after eating them, I initially feel overly stuffed only to feel hungry less than 2 hours later. I know this is likely because of a lack of fiber, protein and fat in traditional pancakes and while regular pancakes are wonderful and fantastic to eat when a craving hits, when it comes to pancakes I consume in my day-to-day life, I’d prefer them to pack a little more of a nutritional punch. And that’s where these bad boys come in.
Helloooo banana bread protein pancakes!
These banana bread protein pancakes are a delicious, healthy and filling breakfast that feels like a special treat, especially if you take the time (it’s not much!) to make them on a busy weekday morning. And a big-time bonus: They were baby and toddler-approved in our house and one of all of our boys’ first favorite foods. I cannot tell you how many batches of these banana bread protein pancakes I made for our boys when they were younger. Thankfully the pancakes continue to be a recipe our boys request now that they’re (almost) all technically big kids and have stronger opinions about what they do and do not like. Banana bread protein pancakes = Like!
If you’d like to give this recipe a try, here’s everything you need to make a batch of banana bread protein pancakes in your house:
- Old Fashioned Oats: These essentially become your “flour” but with more fiber and staying power.
- Banana: The perfect touch of natural sweetness.
- Egg: The nutrient-dense powerhouse that also serves to keep this recipe together
- Cottage Cheese: The ingredient we can thank for the protein in this recipe! And if you hate cottage cheese, you cannot tell it’s in these pancakes, I promise!
- Cinnamon: Adds flavor and makes the pancakes smell amazing!
As written, the below recipe makes a single serving of banana bread protein pancakes but it’s easy enough to double or triple to feed more people.
If you decide to give these banana bread protein pancakes a try, I really hope you enjoy them as much as we do in our house!

Unquestionably believe that which you stated.
Your favorite reason appeared to be on the net
the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while
people think about worries that they plainly do not know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people could take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

What about egg protein how you do that

These look great & I love how easy they would be for a nice change to my normal breakfast routine of yogurt & granola … but I don’t like bananas. Would anything else work? Blueberries? Applesauce? Thanks!

great points altogether, you simply received a logo new reader.
What may you suggest about your post that you just made a few
days in the past? Any sure?

Hi, if I’m lactose intolerant what can I use instead of the cottage cheese?
Thanks
Kaitlyn says
i’m also lactose intolerant and the cottage cheese actually doesn’t bother me, somehow. i know there are varying levels of lactose intolerance, though. cottage cheese is kind of a “secret” ingredient to make the pancakes super moist and fluffy, so i’m not sure what you could replace them with!
Priya says
i am lactose intolerant too, and like most, yogurt doesnt bother me. my guess would be that greek yogurt would work?

I’ve tried these pancakes and they are pretty special. I got a waffle maker for Christmas specifically to see if I can make healthy waffles.

Wow these pancakes look so incredible, they’re definitely making me hungry. I’m not usually a fan of cottage cheese though, albeit I’ve never tried it within a recipe like this. I’ll have to try it out for myself!

Thanks for reposting this recipe, I tried it for the first time this weekend as an after workout breakfast, loved it so much that I had it today again. I made some modifications (almond milk & chocolate) and topped the pancakes with tahini. It’s prefect, thank you so much 🙂

Julie, thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I have been making it for at least a decade now. I am more likely to have greek yogurt on hand than cottage cheese, so I usually make that swap.
These are so easy and a great way to enjoy and change up my protein, rather than eating greek yogurt. Or cottage cheese, or eggs. If I am making them to use up bananas, I make 3, not 4, cakes on a skillet. If I make a batch, I pull out my electric griddle and generally end up with 1 extra.
I love these with maple syrup and an extra sprinkling of cinnamon. They are especially good topped with some toasted walnuts and honey. Sometimes I get fancy and add some coconut whipped cream and nutmeg!
Again, thanks so much, Julie!!
