Bathtub Wedding Gifts

June 8, 2011 by Julie 108 Comments

Wanna know a secret? Ryan and I have yet to remove at least 30 percent of our wedding gifts from their boxes.

They’re stashed in a bathtub in our apartment. I don’t want to use them in our current place because I don’t trust our dishwasher (it leaves a film on things!) and we have a little problem with some unwelcome guests at the moment, so I want all of our nice, fancy kitchenware to remain safe. In the bathtub.

I’d show you a picture but I’m afraid someone would see their wedding gift unused in the tub and be sad. So, if you are one of our friends or family members who attended our wedding and gave us a gift, thank you! We love it and use it every day!  (Or at least we will one day… hopefully soon! Get me out of this shanty!)

Over the weekend, I went sorting through our bathtub of gifts in search of the coffee maker we received. Ryan and I registered for a nice, standard coffee maker and loved the one we received, but during my time at my previous job, I began to fall in love with the coffee makers that brew coffee from little pods. I’m not really a coffee connoisseur and typically like mild, flavored coffee best and the pod coffee makers allow me to brew one little cup of the coffee I enjoy!

I exchanged our previous coffee maker for the Keurig Elite coffee maker.

I finally took it out of its box today and was excited to see that it came with 12 different K-cup pods to sample.

I have my eyes on the French vanilla to try tomorrow!

I was tempted to give the machine a go tonight and brew up a cup of coffee, but then I realized it was 5,000 degrees outside and drinking a cup of coffee would probably cause me to go to bed sweating my face off.

I rethought my plan and decided to make a hot dinner instead. Because that makes sense, you know.

Dinner

Dinner tonight was another simple yet simply delicious meal.

Meatball subs with melted mozzarella!

Enjoyed with a side of Green Giant healthy vision veggies, these subs were seriously tasty.

Now Ryan and I are about to pop some popcorn for movie night! He DVRed Taken the other day and is telling me it’s a must-see. I’m a little apprehensive about this one, as suspenseful movies make it very hard for me to sleep at night. Let’s hope this one isn’t too intense!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I use my keurig every morning to make iced coffee! I fill a pint sized plastic cup with ice, and brew a large cup of coffee (i put my milk and splenda in first with the ice). Result – a perfect cup of iced coffee! Great way to beat the heat 🙂

I love that you’re storing your wedding gifts in a bathtub! We kept ours in boxes for quite a while – some are still in them (two years later). Mainly stuff like crystal vases/bowls – no use now, but some day!

Taken is such a good movie! And that’s coming from someone who was forced to watch it by my boyfriend. It is really suspenseful, but not enough to stress me out after and I actually enjoyed.

Oh, and I’m obsessed with meatball subs. They’re the best.

Keurig’s are the best! We had one at my previous job and I loved it. You can even use the little cups twice to get a little more mileage out of them (the coffee is still good–promise!).

I really liked Taken. It was intense, but I actually liked the suspense. Plus, it turned out ok which takes the edge off, ya know?

Oh no PB!! I read this and fear for your evening lol. You’re in for a long night, Taken is probably THE most suspenseful movie I have ever seen! I first watched it on a weekend my boyfriend was out of town and ended up clutching my dog in bed with the lights on and door locked. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

My boyfriend just bought a Keurig, and I am so excited to try it! I asked a friend where he gets the best deal on k-cups and as strange as it sounds he said Kohls. Apparently Kohls frequently has $10 off coupons, and the k-cups are $15, so he gets them for $5. Sounds good to me 🙂

Another Liam Neeson movie y’all should watch is A-Team. I just watched it last week and it was pretty entertaining. And Bradley Cooper is in it and he’s so smokin’ hot I don’t even care about the storyline. Ha 🙂

@ Maria – I like to define haterade – that which you have obviously been sippin’ a lot of – as a beverage comsumed by haters to refuel their hating capabilities. With that said, who do you think you are to judge what a “real” job is? Don’t get me wrong, everyone’s entitled to an opinion, but don’t stand on your self-righteous soapbox (as your true guise is conveniently masked by a computer monitor) and pass statements on what you think a “real job” is.

P.S. Julie, I just want to say that I hugely admire your blog and new career; I am so excited for what the future holds for you. I’m a 3rd year med student and find myself praying for more hours in the days sometimes, but your blog is one of the few that I always make sure to save time to read during my study breaks…! 🙂

Hey, it’s just an opinion. I’m not hating, just making an observation. The blog has gotten boring. And no, I don’t consider blogging about what you ate for the day an actual job. I seriously doubt I’m the only person who thinks that. Everyone else is too busy kissing blogger butt about how awesome chia pudding or whatever. But, if she can make decent money doing that, then more power to her. I just think it’s rather funny. Oh, and way to be defensive about something that has nothing to do with you.

Maria, I’m not sure what you mean by “did different things.” I mean I was sitting behind a desk from 9 to 5 and my post work time is still spent the same way as when I was working at my other job. I guess I’m just confused by your comment. And I can assure you that I am, in fact, working all day long. As I said in my post about leaving my job, I did it to also work on freelance projects. I’m sorry you’re not enjoying the change, but it was 100 percent the right one for me.

Don’t sweat this mean, unnecessary comment Julie. You have worked freaking hard to get to a place where you can call blogging a job (I had a food blog for a while and quit b/c it was just too much work!), and people read yours for a reason–it’s inspiring, has great tips and recipes, and is just plain fun. Your quitting your office job certainly doesn’t change that. I for one read 20+ blogs and yours is hands-down my favorite.
(Maria–am I kissing blogger butt right now? Just curious.)
