Wanna know a secret? Ryan and I have yet to remove at least 30 percent of our wedding gifts from their boxes.
They’re stashed in a bathtub in our apartment. I don’t want to use them in our current place because I don’t trust our dishwasher (it leaves a film on things!) and we have a little problem with some unwelcome guests at the moment, so I want all of our nice, fancy kitchenware to remain safe. In the bathtub.
I’d show you a picture but I’m afraid someone would see their wedding gift unused in the tub and be sad. So, if you are one of our friends or family members who attended our wedding and gave us a gift, thank you! We love it and use it every day! (Or at least we will one day… hopefully soon! Get me out of this shanty!)
Over the weekend, I went sorting through our bathtub of gifts in search of the coffee maker we received. Ryan and I registered for a nice, standard coffee maker and loved the one we received, but during my time at my previous job, I began to fall in love with the coffee makers that brew coffee from little pods. I’m not really a coffee connoisseur and typically like mild, flavored coffee best and the pod coffee makers allow me to brew one little cup of the coffee I enjoy!
I exchanged our previous coffee maker for the Keurig Elite coffee maker.
I finally took it out of its box today and was excited to see that it came with 12 different K-cup pods to sample.
I have my eyes on the French vanilla to try tomorrow!
I was tempted to give the machine a go tonight and brew up a cup of coffee, but then I realized it was 5,000 degrees outside and drinking a cup of coffee would probably cause me to go to bed sweating my face off.
I rethought my plan and decided to make a hot dinner instead. Because that makes sense, you know.
Dinner
Dinner tonight was another simple yet simply delicious meal.
Meatball subs with melted mozzarella!
Enjoyed with a side of Green Giant healthy vision veggies, these subs were seriously tasty.
Now Ryan and I are about to pop some popcorn for movie night! He DVRed Taken the other day and is telling me it’s a must-see. I’m a little apprehensive about this one, as suspenseful movies make it very hard for me to sleep at night. Let’s hope this one isn’t too intense!

You have made me feel soooooooo much better with this post & your bath tub full of wedding gifts!
We got married 2 years ago, and half of our wedding gifts aren’t even in the same country as us anymore 🙂 I love my moms storage cupboard 🙂
Shannon says
Just be glad that you already went on your trip overseas! Otherwise you would be up all night thinking someone is going to steal you!
laura says
Ah! You sound exactly like me… When the sun is out I can watch those kind of movies, different story at night. Also, try putting a few tablespoons of vinegar in your dishwasher before you wash your dished to see if that helps remove the film from your dishes! I hope that helps!

i like the idea of clicking the button everyday! if you want another thing to do each day, you should go to http://www.shareyourbreakfast.com. all you have to do is put in what you ate for breakfast and it donates a breakfast to a child! i do it when i remember to,, hope to get in a habit of it like you do! definitely adding the button idea to my homepage… 🙂

That coffee machine will make waking up even easier now! I love the Nespresso machine, the coffee is so smooth-tasting!
Anne @thefitbridesmaid says
Taken is a very interesting movie. Although I don’t know about too much suspense. Mostly I just wanted to slap her friend and tell her how stupid she is!
Sharelle @ essential-ingredient says
green mountain coffee for the kerig is so good. 🙂 i especially like the “golden french toast” flavor. order it if you can! it’s amazing.
Alisa @ Running with Knives says
Good thing you didn’t have the coffee and then watch a movie that will keep you up all night. Or maybe you should have tried the coffee anyway. Come on… when was the last time you pulled an all nighter??
Cait says
I loved that movie! I watched it with my Dad…needless to say, he didn’t let me go anywhere alone for a while haha. But I thought it was great! Tell me how you like it!

Taken is soooo good! I love the that the movie keeps you on your feet and has so much action. I was definitely a little worried to travel after seeing it, though. Now I think to tell my dad whenever I go somewhere new, just in case I disappear and he has to come find me 😉
Danielle says
Wow, my first experience with a not so nice blog comment. Well hopefully Maria will find joy in a different blog.
I look forward to your blog posts everyday. Not ‘kissing blog butt’ here but I do enjoy reading what you have to say. Sadie is my favorite part.
Taken, while a good movie, is the kind that feeds into my paranoia. Not sure I would watch it again.
ellalinea says
hhh so funny that you keep your wedding gifts in the bathtub, at least they are safe there ! 🙂 When are you guys planning to move?
Amanda Jewell @ Science&Bananas says
Taken is a good movie! It just might make all parents not ever want to allow their children to visit Europe 🙂
Gen says
I’d love a real coffe maker, you know, an expresso machinie to have some real good coffe!
Lee @ in the pink of condition says
I have a Keurig too! They are soooo great and cleanup is so easy! So many different flavors of K cups to choose from too. What’s your favorite kind so far? I definitely suggest any flavored coffee by Green Mountain. The Pumpkin Spice flavor in the fall is the best! 🙂
Lindsay says
Our Keurig is one of the best wedding presents ever!!! I type this as I sip on a cup of Hazelnut coffee! I LOVE all that flavors that you can buy and they are always on sale! Plus, my husband was the messiest person ever with a regular coffee maker and this one is totally mess-free! Love it!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
We have a Tassimo – same idea as a Keurig – and I just don’t think it’s very cost efficient if your household drinks more than a cup or two a day.
Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries says
We registered for a Kuerig too! My fingers are so crossed 🙂
Lina says
I’m OBSESSED with my Keurig! It’s the best house warming gift I ever got for my new apartment!
Lindsey says
i have a Keurig and I absolutely love it! I recommend trying the Gloria Jean brand. Green Mountain Vanilla Caramel Creme is delicious as is Wolfgang Puck’s Breakfast in Bed and Timothy’s Sugar Bush Maple. Also, be sure to register it on Keurig’s website because you get a discounted rate on k cups!
Hope says
I love the Keurig machine! I have had mine for quite a while now and I cannot get enough of it! 🙂 It’s so easy and quick to brew coffee!

Did you like “Taken”?! Really good, right??
If you liked “Taken”, you should check out Denzel Washington in “Man on Fire.” 🙂 So good, too!
Have a great day!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
man on fire is so good! i liked both of them – but they had me feeling antsy and intense the whole time! it’s like i hate them when i’m watching and love them when they’re over. 🙂
Jordan P @ food, sweat, and beers says
haha, I was just going to ask the same question. What’d you think of Taken?
Confession: When it was out at the redbox, and someone was in front of me and looked indecisive, sometimes I’d just casually mention how it was one of the greatest movies I’d ever seen and entertaining for both fellows and ladies, come date night!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
i liked it a lot!!! so intense – and i am never traveling again. 😉
Shari @ Chicago Cuisine Critique says
I got one of these machines for my birthday. I’m loving it. One of my favorite flavors not included in the machine, Chocolate Raspberry Truffle. I know it may sound like an interesting combination, but trust me it’s a MUST try. 🙂
SaraRM says
Dont feel bad I went 2.5 years before ever opening some of our gifts. There was always a chance that we would be moving soon so I wanted to wait to open the nice stuff up especially when we would never use often…. so 2+years later we finally moved and most of it is being used but still have A LOT stashed!
Krysta says
We just got the same coffee maker and we love it! My favorite flavor from the trial pack is the Hazelnut- and you will probably like it too as it is mild yet flavorful.
Also, if you ever find a coffee you like that isn’t a pod you can buy the little reuseable filter and brew your own coffee which is probably pretty economical.
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
I LOVE the Keurig! We have one at work and it really just makes the day better 🙂
Hila says
How funny we had meatball subs and watched Taken last night as well! I love that movie
Holly says
I LOVE my Keurig. We got one from Craig’s co-workers as a wedding gift & I have used it everyday since then! 🙂
I have a suggestion for flavor- one is chocolate covered donut– OMG- sooooooo good & the smell is to die for. It will smell like a donut shop in your house! 🙂
Ashley O. @ The Vegetable Life says
I literally LOVE my keurig with all my heart!!! Don’t forget to register it on Keurig.com for your warranty (and when you do you get a free box of K-Cups when you buy two others!)
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Health says
i cannot believe you keep gifts in the bathtub! I am getting married next weekend. It will be interesting to see what we get/ where everything ends up! Hopefully not the bathtub since we only have one.
Chelsea says
haha that’s a great spot to keep unused items. In an unused bathtub 😉
Taken is suchhh a good movie! It’s kind of sad/creepy what the poor girls are made to do…all in all though i loved it. That dad was a badass lol 🙂
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
You’ll love this coffee maker. Sometimes I miss making a big pot of coffee, but the keurig is just fantastic! Enjoy!
Amanda @ Cucina Amanda says
I love my Keurig! We got the Keurig Mini as an engagement present in September! We also got the K-Cup Carousel to hold all the mini coffees! I love it! My favorite flavor is the Chocolate Covered Doughnut. To. Die. For.

You’re gonna love the Keurig coffee maker – I got it from Sean for xmas this year and just love it! It’s so easy and tastes great! My favorite is hazelnut or french vanilla – but you can also make tea as well! Miss you Julieeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

These are amazing! We have them at work as well! They make really yummy tea K-Cups 🙂
Apparently Costco sells K-cups as well at a cheaper price.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I still haven’t opened some of our wedding gifts either! ha!
Did you LIKE the movie Taken?? what were you thoughts?
Jessica says
Ha! My husband and I kept all of our wedding gifts boxed and in a closet for THREE YEARS!!! We were living in withe special visitors and RUSTY, RUSTY water. So we waited until we bought our home, which we didn’t expect would take us 3 years to do!! haha
Also, on the Keurig… You can buy a filter that you place your own coffee into, rather than purchasing the pricey k-cups. I think they’re everywhere now, but I happened to find mine at Lowe’s!!
Heather says
I just heard at my work that next week the Keurig company is coming in to sample all their new flavors to us(Since we are one of their biggest clients), including the newest type…iced! I immediately thought of you!
I will have to take some pictures and make a post!
