Today was rather random. I always feel like Sundays become either a day of scrambling around to get everything you neglected to do on Saturday done, or a day of vegging out on the couch eating your bodyweight in granola.
Since Iām an equal opportunity employer, I made sure to do a little bit of both.
Our day began with a morning walk with Sadie followed by breakfastā¦ round one.
Smoothie bowls!
After downing our smoothies, Ryan and I headed to church before swinging by the grocery store and heading home for breakfastā¦ round two.
Ryan was feeling innovative in the kitchen this morning and decided to make us breakfast bagelwiches.
This bad boy included a Publix bakery whole wheat bagel, bacon, egg, peanut butter and banana slices.
Had it not been for the banana slices, the sandwich wouldāve actually been pretty good, but I just couldnāt get past the odd flavor of the bananas. Ryan had no problem annihilating the whole thing.
After our second breakfast, I made a few batches of almond butter granola before we ran errands around town.
Eventually we took a break for some frozen yogurt from TCBY.
We split a chocolate and caramel parfait and loved every last bite.
TCBY was located right by CVS where a Red Box DVD stand sat outside. After looking at all of the different movie options, I talked Ryan into watching this little gem:
The Biebs. Oh yes.
As a 26-year-old female, Iāve heard about Bieber Fever and all, but never really understood it. I heard Never Say Never was a documentary-style movie about Justin Bieberās rise to fame and was oddly intrigued.
I sold Ryan on the movie (there were slim pickings in the Red Box repertoire) and surprisingly enough, we both enjoyed it!
I am convinced that my 13-year-old self wouldāve loooooved Justin Bieber in the way that I looooved Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Oh, JTT.
Iāve gotta get back to being lazy with my husband and Sadie before Ryan asks me what Iām blogging about and I have to tell him that Iām letting the world know he watched the Justin Bieber movie.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Lindsay@InSweetnessandInHealth says
I love that guys don’t like people to know when they’ve watched a “girly” movie haha :). I seriously think I’m going to have to make your granola soon…I’m starting to salivate over here
Cassie @ Naturally Cassie says
I loveee a lazy & productive sunday!
I may have seen the jb moive…in theaters….in 3D….& may have enjoyed it as well…
However, there is no way of knowing for sure =]
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
I’ve been wanting to watch Never Say Never! I heard that it got good reviews…and if Ryan liked it…then I’ll just have to convince my boyfriend that it’s “the perfect date movie” ;).
Melanie says
I cannot stand Bieber and I really hope my younger JTT-worshipping self would have had the good sense to dislike him as well. š
I have to make that almond butter granola soon. It looks so tasty!
peanutbutterfingers says
have you watched the movie? b/c he annoyed the crap out of me before i watched the movie and now i think he actually seems like a decent guy. who knew?
Hillary says
I agree with Melanie ^.
Fun JTT story: I used to buy Tiger Beat and all those awesome magazines, just so I could swoon over JTT and the other pre-pubescent hotties when I was 10 or 11. Once, I worked up the nerve to write him a fan letter (God only knows what I actually wrote), and his people sent me an “autographed” poster! I was in teenie bopper heaven!
peanutbutterfingers says
man of the house was the best movie ever!!!
Hillary says
Right up there with Little Giants (so I could take a break from swooning over JTT to focus on Devon Sawa). Wow, what a blast from the past!
Rachel says
OMG Devon Sawa… blast from the past, I LOVED him! I totally forgot about him, wow. I definitely was a JTT fan club member back in the day as well. Ahhh, where did all those boys go?
Katie (dailymaiermusings.blogspot.com) says
Devon, JTT and Rider Strong (from boy meets world) were the big ones in my grade 6 classroom! Sadly, I remember that JTT liked fishing and was a vegetarian.
Ali @ Ali Runs says
When I saw the preview for the movie, I actually thought it pretty good. But I am surprised you got Ryan to go for it, you’re lucky. Also, I still watch old Home Improvement episodes and swoon over JTT. š
Lexi says
I just watched Never Say Never with my boyfriend last weekend and I (surprisingly) really enjoyed it! I now have a few Justin Bieber songs on my workout playlist. š
Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun says
Hmmm…so this wouldn’t be the best opening topic when I meet him in November huh? Or wooouullldddd it? š
Kaycee says
that bagel sandwich actually looks super good! as does the parfait ;p also i made your peanut butter granola when you first posted the recipe except i used almond butter! and it tasted so good that i actually ate the entire batch that day (…not in one sitting, don’t worry). i’m def. gonna try it with peanut butter one day though, but maybe i’ll cut the recipe in 1/2- gotta moderate myself, y’know? š
Amy says
I’m a 25-year old with bieber fever… I have a few/all of his song on my ipod (no shame) and loved never say never! I dont, however, think i could EVER convince my husband to watch it. Hes too stubborn about movies. š
amy says
I’m so jealous of your publix bagels, i miss that store! there are none on the west coast š and I love the biebs and his like gf selena gomez
Colleen @ Jimmy Choos on the Treadmill says
Random question! Do you let your smoothie spill onto your napkin or do you quickly scrape it up off the sides after snapping a photo? I don’t like when my food runs down the side (especially with ice cream!) because I feel like I’m missing out on a few extra bites! š
julie @ peanut butter fingers says
It is so thick that it takes a while to actually flow down the side of the bowl, so I lick it up before it hits the napkin. š
char @ char on a mission says
I totally got my hubby hooked on Justin Bieber with me back last summer. I made him watch the youtube videos (which got me hooked) and then he would make other people watch the youtube videos. Gotta love husbands…and their secret crushes on young heartthrobs
Allison @ Happy Tales says
hahahaa!!! that’s so funny that Ryan watched that with you, and that you both actually *enjoyed* it!!! I’m kind of intrigued…
BTW, I searched for xanthum gum at the store today b/c i’ve been wanting to put it in my smoothies, but it was a whopping 15$!!!!! I could not justify that on today’s grocery trip. I need to price it out and see if i can do better… do you know if it’s told cheaper anywhere else!?!
julie @ peanut butter fingers says
Mine was $13, but I’ve had the same bag for more than a year. A little bit goes a LONG way!
Annie-Rose says
That sandwich totally reminds me of something my boyfriend takes a stab at cooking! I have to just go with it though – cause I don’t want to discourage him from trying š
Claire @ NavigatingNorth says
Lazy & Productive must be the trend across the nation. I did SO much, yet am laying around reading, blogging, watching tv all before 8 pm! Sundays are great š Haha. I think it’s funny you had to “sneak away” to blog about Ryan watching Beber…so commical
Shari @ Chicago Cuisine Critique says
I too was a HUGE JTT fan. Sigh. He was so cute! Sounds like a fun Sunday. Enjoy!
Niki (Life's a Payne) says
Before I stopped eating bacon, I had a bacon and PB crepe thing at Cora’s (a Canadian breakfast place)! I loved it! I don’t think bananas would be a good addition though… oh well!
Ryah says
I loved NSYC and Backstreet Boys growing up. (Oh and Spice Girls of course.) But Bieber annoys the crap out of me. He’s 17 and he has a movie and a memoir. (I thought you were supposed to write a memoir towards the end of your life or if you’ve actually done something amazing?) He’s no worse than your average tween pop star I suppose but he’s certainly not deserving of all the hype and adoration, in my opinion.
peanutbutterfingers says
hahahaha yes… 17 WAY too young to have a memoir. what can you really reflect on?
Ali @SeeAliEatSeeAliRun says
Hahaha I JUST watched this movie yesterday with the little girl I babysit-I have to say, it’s actually a good story!
Gen says
That granola looks incredible!!!!! š Hope you have a nice Sunday!
Bee Goes Bananas says
I haven’t seen it, but many of my 23-year-old friends really liked it! So strange. Maybe I’ll have it watch it?!
Cait @ Urban Fencepost says
I may not have Bieber Fever, but I will dance every time I hear Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” š
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
That’s impressive, my husband would’ve NEVER gone for it!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
I caught the bieber fever last summer. I have yet to recover š whoot-woot for a fellow Canadian yo!
Sarah K. @ The Pajama Chef says
oh JTT….i love him. what’s he doing these days?
Carly says
lol I used to love JTT! š
Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries says
My best friend and I (ages 23 and 22) went to see the Biebs in 3D. We were the only ones in the theatre and we danced and sang our way through the movie. I never really understood the whole Bieber Fever thing until I saw the movie, but his story is actually pretty neat! My favorite parts were when they talked to the girls after they were on stage with him. Classic.
Lindsey @ Happy or Hungry says
I loooooved JTT!!!! I was convinced we were going to get married. I sent him about 10 letters and he never once wrote back š I was so disappointed.
Oh well, puberty was not kind to him… š
Abby says
I’m not a big fan of the Biebs myself. I really want to watch the movie though just because I am intrigued by the drumming on the chairs part of the preview. lol. However, my boyfriend is obsessed with the “Baby” song and walks around the apartment singing it almost daily.
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Ha, I love the world’s odd obsession with Justin Beiber. I will never forget watching him on SYTCD with my grandma and her practically dancing along with “Baby”. You gotta hand it to him–the kid is pretty good.
Suzanne Williams says
So cute. I like the line about finishing the blog before he knows you are telling the world. Sounds like a great Sunday and I am glad you enjoyed it.
Suzanne
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I would have been in love with Bieber too – I did love JTT but my heart was with Justin Timberlake!
Leslie says
I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now and you’ve convinced me to try bodypump! Nervous, but excited at the same time.
JTT was my first crush, but Justin stole my heat!! My running playlist has so much nsync and JT that i would probably not own up to it if I lost it. š
peanutbutterfingers says
oh i hope you love it!!
Lisa @ I'm an Okie says
I am not ashamed to say that I LOVE bieber. And it wasn’t until I saw Never say never in 3d. that annoying kid won me over.
Lindsay says
JTT FTW!!! I LOVED him!! He was totally on the front of all of my binders!
Cait's a Runnerchick says
okay, i just have to say that ur smoothie pictures always make me smile because the awesomeness is always overflowing over the top of the cup or bowl. š
now as for the biebs, too bad those little dvd boxes aren’t able to give u the glasses and 3d version. i mean, u gotta experience the biebs in full-on, pulling out the stops action. ;)jk
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I totally rented and watched that movie last night TOO!!! Great minds think alike, girlfriend! š
I thought it was really inspiring, actually. heh. I am a nerd, but it was fun to see him live his dreams! Esp since I am living mine…. š WOOT.
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy Girl" says
Ohhhh yeah – I loved JTT as well. I think I may have written him a few fan letters. Shocking that he never responded. Though about seeing the Bieber movie but decided to pass. Now that i know you and Ryan both liked it, I may give it a shot :-). Ryan’s sandwich looked soooooo good. Sometimes men are the best cooks.
Khushboo says
Hahah JTT was so hot! That sandwich sounds like the opposite of synergy- all delicious things but together, not so much!
Erin says
LOVED THE JB MOVIE AND LOVED JTT!! Did it totally give you a new perspective on him?? I just wanted to sing and dance after I saw that!
peanutbutterfingers says
yes, it definitely did. ryan now calls him “our boy.” you know, “our boy, the biebs?” š
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
That sundae looks soooo good! And the bagelwich minus the banana and nut butter, sounds amazing!
Lindsey says
Love the sandiwch š I think its funny the things boys come up with! Mu husband thinks of some random creations too!
gadabout says
that sandwich made me laugh- is ryan pregnant??? weirdest combination ever.
also, i completely agree with that whole bieber/jtt thing. bieber fever would have rivaled my love for JTT and Devnn Sawa (what was i thinking?? he’s not even cute now!)
Amber @ Stop and Smell the Wildflowers says
Haha, I loved JTT when I was younger, too! I’m pretty sure I had posters of him on my wall….
Nat says
Dear Julie,
As a heterosexual woman, I’d like to say that I’m in love with you. You’re humor and writing always makes me laugh me and your post this morning about your dad was beautiful.
peanutbutterfingers says
š thanks so much, nat! and as a heterosexual woman, i love you back. š
dee says
JTT! I would tune in to watch “home improvement” for my daily JTT fix..not to mention I loved the lion king and little simba! : ) and although I jam out to some of biebers songs, oh baby baby baby nooo, I’ve never mustered up enough courage to click on “never say never” when my boyfriend and I are at red box. I mention it jokingly (as to not give away my intrigue), but he never seems to catch my hint! Oh julie..you’re so brave!
E says
Ahhh…JTT! I loved Home Improvement in middle school/high school! š
Jemma @ Celery and Cupcakes says
Almond butter granola sounds amazing! š
Yolie @ Practising Wellness says
Hahaha! I hope Ryan is still blissfully unawares that we all know he is a closet Justin Bieber fan š I do know what you mean though, those behind-the-scenes documentaries are often really interesting and quite fascinating – it’s such a bizarre lifestyle these people lead.
That bagelwich sounds crazy! š What a bold and adventurous flavour combination, lol! I know PB and Banana taste good by themselves, ditto for PB and bacon (mmmm…) but putting them all together? With egg? I don’t know, lol!
My childhood crush was Joey Lawrence from Brotherly Love!!! Ahhh, the memories š xyx
