After a weekend on the road, it feels good to be home. It was wonderful to spend time with my family and such a treat to see some snow in Gettysburg!
But now I’m back and ready to begin another work week!
Since healthy eating and fitness fell to the wayside during our road trip, I woke up this morning ready to board the healthy train again!
Workout
My workout was a super sweaty one thanks to the Nike Training Club app. After a 10 minute warm up on the elliptical, I completed the 30 minute Razor Sharp workout and definitely pushed myself.
The NTC workouts are no joke!
On our way home from the gym, Ryan and I quickly popped into WalMart because we had nothing appealing in our fridge for breakfast and I wanted fresh produce so I could make a green smoothie!
We bought lots of veggies and fruit and I put a bunch of them together in the blender to make a delicious and nutritious smoothie.
In my green smoothie:
- 1 kiwi (skin on)
- 1 clementine
- 3 large handfuls kale
- 1/2 cucumber (skin on)
- 1 celery stalk
- 1 carrot
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- Fresh ginger
- Cold water
I also had a small handful of walnuts and a hard boiled egg on the side for some healthy fat and protein.
I hope you guys had a great weekend and have a fabulous Monday!
Question of the Morning
- What is one healthy thing you are doing for yourself today?
Ali @ Peaches and Football says
I’m going to try that 30 min workout tonight (minus the side plank crunches – eeek). I’ll have to swap that for another crunch exercise that’s easier on the wrists.
I’ve never heard of eating the kiwi with the skin on it. Is there a nutritional benefit to eating the skins? Most of the time I always see a kiwi peeled before eating.
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
I was just too lazy to peel it and I couldn’t taste the texture of the peel in the smoothie once it was blended. 🙂
Shannon says
Today I got up extra early to do some cardio before my 5:15am body pump class. And after work today, I’m getting a facial! Thought I would treat myself 🙂
Your smoothie looks amazing too! And agreed, the NTC workouts are NO JOKE!

Welcome back on the healthy train;) This morning I had a great workout as well, I’m training for a 7K in a couple weeks. So today I did a 30 minute moderate run, then 10 x 30 second sprints with a 30 second recovery in between. I can still feel it in my legs. And like you, I really pushed myself this morning, which felt great considering it’s Monday and I wasn’t feeling it when the alarm went off this AM. Have a great week and I hope all your workouts this week are a great as today’s!

Today… i’m making sure I leave work on time, instead of hours after the school day lets out. It helps with my stress levels and leaves me time to exercise!
Katherine says
I prepped all my meal for the week yesterday so when I finish the tabata challenge class tonight I will have dinner all ready and wont have to snack in between.
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
Green smoothies are the best, and despite the fact that it’s so cold here, I’ve still be enjoying them for breakfast. A few healthy things I’m doing for myself today are starting the day off with a smoothie, enjoying your recipe for the savory Waldorf salad for lunch (super excited to try it!) and doing a workout tonight!
Adria @ A Spoonful of Healthy says
I’m sticking to my eating plan and I’m not snacking on sweets 🙂
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Love the Razor Sharp one! Tried it for the first time last week. 30 minutes has never gone by so quickly!
Chelsea @ A Fit LittleOne says
Yum that smoothie sounds amazing! I never knew you could keep the skin on kiwi and eat it. I almost didn’t get up this morning, but then remember how much better my day is when I workout. So I’m sticking to my working plan, and just going to try to go with the flow no matter how tired I am haha
Brynn says
I also started my day with a workout. It feels great to get back on the healthy train after a day or two away. I find myself even more motivated!
Jana @ Bananas for Balance says
I worked out this morning and unfortunately felt a nasty pain in my arch so I’m going to ice it tonight! Also I’m excited for a new-to-me salad combination I brought for lunch today so hopefully I won’t have lunch envy for once!
Brynn says
I also started the day with a workout. I find myself even more motivated after a few days off. I wake up ready to tackle the day with good foods and a

Sweat session! (It cut off my reply, oops.)
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
All that skin on sounds like it would be a weird texture in your smoothie – but I’m guessing no? My healthy thing today will hopefully be a short run and some strength training, plus I planned my meals and snacks!
Sara @ LovingOnTheRun says
Going grocery shopping! We have NOTHING in our pantry either so after things calm down later today we will be heading to the grocery to stock up on healthy foods!
Erin @ The Almond Eater says
Ohh sounds like a delicious smoothie! It always is nice to board the healthy train after taking a few days off–it’s just a good feeling. One healthy thing I am doing for myself? I had a cup of tea even though I’m not a huge tea person—I’m trying! I know it is good for me so I figure swapping coffee for tea occasionally is probably a good idea.
Allie @ Allie Go Running says
I have a workout with some friends planned for this evening! Hopefully getting in some treadmill miles because it is sooo cold here 🙁
Sanaz @ Run for Cake says
Kiwi with the skin on?!?! This makes me think: 1) I need a Vitamix and 2) why didn’t I think of that.
I need to get healthier stat. I have the Miami half marathon this weekend and have been sick for the last week so I am hoping this cold goes away so I can get ready for my run! I am going to drink fluids like crazy and hope that helps 🙂
Carrie says
I am on day 7 of a challenge called #WorkItOut100! If the name doesn’t give it away, I am dedicated to 100 continuous days of working out – whether it be a sweaty 8 mile run or a simple walk – the main reason of the challenge is to move every. single. day!
hannah @ PalmBeachRunner says
Today my healthy thing will be trying to get in a 30 min run after work. I always feel so good when I get that in.
Joanna says
10 minutes of Yoga this am and a 30 minute NTC at lunch.
Questions – what kind of blender do you use to make your smoothies? Been debating in my head to get one so I can get on the smoothie train
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food says
That smoothie looks amazing. I did the 30 minute abs/butt workout on NTC this weekend and loved it. Best app ever!
Karen @ Fruitspire says
teaching two spin classes!!
Jess @dearhealthyness.com says
The smoothie sounds amazing, combined with that workout, you definitively are on the healthy train again! Have a nice week!
Kaelene @Unlocking Kiki says
I always try and make it to a 90 min class of hot yoga on Monday’s, try and start my week off with a good stretch and sweat, and it helps me keep on track with drinking lots of water.
Ang @ Nutty for Life says
I’m taking a Pilates class and later tonight a hot yoga class, as long as that doesn’t get cancelled due to the cold. Sick of the weather ruining plans! And any day of mine wouldn’t be the same without a little nut butter :p
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl says
I had a green smoothie this morning too! Always makes me feel so good to know that I’m getting a huge amounts of veggies in my system, first thing in the morning. 😉
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
I just put the ingredients for a healthy-ish potato soup in the crock pot! Can’t wait to have it for dinner… yum!
Celina says
Ditto! My weekend lacked vegetables and exercise. Excited to get back on that train today as well. This smoothie looks awesome, I’m trying it soon! Have a great week, Julie!
Tricia @ Balance In Progress says
A yoga class this afternoon!
Ashley says
So happy to see your smoothie recipe! I will have to try it- kiwi’s always make them so good!! I’ve missed seeing your different smoothie recipes 😉 Today is day 17 of insanity for me- so that’s my healthy activity of the day
Megan @ The Skinny-Life says
I am making a commitment starting today to eliminate processed sugar from my diet.
Laura@SneakersandSpatulas says
I love the NTC workouts! I like the 15 minute get focused ones and pick a different area to focus on after my runs. They really give you a good workout! I plan to either run or ride my bike tonight-depends on the temperature!
Ariana says
It’s FREEZING up here in Illinois! So cold that they cancelled school for today (I’m a teacher) so I am making sure to get in and get my cardio done. Plus, I just got new running shoes that I am dying to try out! They are my first like legit pair of running shoes. I got fitted for them and everything and am so anxious to break them in!
Jackie says
That workout looks tough!
Elisabeth says
I’m skipping all the ‘just one bites’ of sweets I’ve been having lately. They might be only a bite, but they add up!
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
I’m going to a spin class after work today! I can’t wait!
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life says
Oh my gosh, those NTC workouts are SO killer! I did a 45 minute one once and I still don’t know how I managed to finish it all. Glad you had a great time with family this weekend! <3
Ashley says
Ugh my weeekend was absolutely not healthy at all. I really need to take this week to reset and be more mindful of my eating.
Natalie @ Free Range Human says
I am making time for my workout today, and I’m already looking forward to it!
Kylie says
I meal prepped last night for the next 4 days so I’m set today with my healthy lunch and snacks 🙂 What kind of blender do you have??
Ashlee O. says
I made your beet smoothie from a few posts back! It was delicious, but I did add a little more ginger than I will the next go around and ended up adding a 1/4 cup of vanilla greek yogurt to take the edge off!
Erin Elder says
I am going to my body boot camp class this afternoon, AND i’m going to my friend/trainer’s “stretching session” right before that class. I just completed a Spartan Super 8 mile obstacle course and i’m really really sore. My muscles could use some serious love. 🙂
Ali says
I want to use that app. That looks great. I am eating healthy all day today! I was out of town this past week and too much sugar/fat crept into my diet.
Abi@AbsofSteel says
I’m trying to eat more mindfully today. As in eating things that are best for my body and not eating out of boredom
Ally S says
Hi! I am new to the blogging world and I would love if you could visit my blog and give me some feedback on what you think about it. I love your blog and it actually inspired me to create one of my own. I hope you get the chance to check mine out! —> pbandpineapple.wordpress.com

I love that app and still can’t believe it’s free! I hate those alternating froggers though 🙂 I did the Leaner Legs workout last week and my thighs were sore for 2 days after. Love that feeling!
Stephanie @ Healthy, Happy Stephanie says
I went to a barre class before work this morning. Definitely trying to start my week off in a healthy way!
Julie says
Jealous! Wish there were barre classes around me! Such a great workout!
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom says
After a week or so of battling bronchitis, I went out for a run this morning 🙂 It was not easy by any means, but it definitely felt amazing!
Traci says
I love the new colors here! The main one is my “happy color.” One healthy thing I’m doing for myself today is HIBERNATING. I’m visiting family in MN and should be flying home today, but all flights are canceled through tomorrow. We are spending the extra day inside and avoiding icy roads…therefore, staying healthy and safe!
Alexa @ travelmiamor says
I downloaded that app afte ryou had talked about it in another post. I LOVE it!!! First two weeks of using it I was so sore!
Julie says
Isn’t it fabulous!? Totally kicks my butt!
