While there, I pulled up a past blog post on my phone and browsed through the comments section where you guys mentioned the most recent amazing books you’ve read.
Using your advice as my guide, I selected this lil’ baby:
I have a little test when it comes to picking out books. I read the first page. If I want to keep reading and feel like the writer has a great voice, I decide it’s a keeper. Of course this is not a foolproof method, but it’s a random little thing I always do when picking out reading material.
The Help passed the test and will be making the journey to Europe with me.
Dinner
After browsing around Barnes & Noble for a bit (I could easily spend hours there), I came home ready for dinner! Ryan had plans to meet up with a buddy at Panera tonight, so I was all on my own.
I wanted something tasty and easy and breakfast for dinner matches both of those requirements.
Dippy eggs + veggie bacon +toasted English muffin
Don’t mind if I do!
Strawberry banana Greek yogurt and a billion Swedish Fish were also consumed.
P.S. The Fashion page was updated for the third time this evening. I’m on a roll, baby!
P.P.S. I almost titled this blog post “The Little Blog Post That Could” because my computer decided to crap the bed and stop working a billion times as I was typing it up. After breaking my laptop over my knee and letting Sadie pee on it while I located some lighter fluid to subsequently set it on fire, I used Ryan’s computer to finally get this post up. Phew! The trials and tribulations of blogging…

I LOVED that book!!! I read the first chapter on an iPad while waiting for my computer to be fixed at the Apple store, and was hooked. It was really, really good! Enjoy <3
Christy says
My book test is I read the last sentence or paragraph of the book. Sometimes my test ruins the end of the book, though, so I don’t suggest it.
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Oh man, I don’t think i could let myself do that– i’d be too scared i’d ruin the plot 😛 I do, however, sometimes read magazines from back to front… no idea why I do it!
Christy says
I do that too with magazines. Or I’ll just randomly start in the middle, read to the end, then go back to the beginning and read until it looks familiar.
Anna @ Acquainted With The Night says
I have done that before, the worst time was with Of Mice and Men, I couldn’t read it from the beginning and I have refused to read it ever since!
peanutbutterfingers says
That book made me cry so hard!
Bess @ Bess Be Fit says
I just saw a preview for The Help…I don’t remember when its coming out but they’ve made it into a movie! must be good! 🙂
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
Oooh man! My sister-in-law posted something about having breakfast for dinner also – y’all are making me crave bfast food! Have a great night, Julie. 🙂
Holley @ Smart Snacking says
I keep seeing that book around but I’ve never picked it up. I might have to put it on my need to read book list!
The Teenage Taste says
Breakfast for dinner is the BOMB! I love dippy eggs! 😀
Brittany says
I hope you love “The Help” as much as I did! I couldn’t stop reading it. Started it one morning and did not allow it to leave my hands for the rest of the day until I finished it that night. It’s rude to read at the dinner table, but I have to say that I made an exception for this book 😉 So, so good.
Angela says
Such a good book! It was recommended to me and I’ve continued the trend. It’s so wonderful!
tanya says
why type of protein powder do you use in your smoothies?
they are so thick compared to mine with sun warrior.
peanutbutterfingers says
either gold standard or all the whey brands. using xanthan gum is KEY to making them thick though!
Eliza says
Yay The Help is such a amazzzzzing book!!!
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
ohh I love eggs for dinner or rather any breakfast food for dinner!

Kate says
That book is so good, I absolutely loved it. I hope you enjoy!
Jihane @Sinful Sundays says
I read “The Help” and it was pretty good—funny too. I seriously spent a whole day from 9am to about 1:30pm in bed on a Saturday morning reading the whole book. It was a good read and although I felt as if one major issue in there was unrealistic and far-fetched I liked it anyways. I’m excited to see the movie!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
The Help is an amazing book! You are going to love it!
Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says
Dippy eggs + veggie bacon +toasted English muffin = I havent eaten eggs in about 10 yrs and bacon in about 20, and for some reason, I want that meal!!

Yay I just bought The Help this week too! I am finishing The Kite Runner right now but it’s next on the list.
Fashion question–I am in desperate need for some comfortable, neutral flats. I got some from Urban outfitters that gave me blisters within 30 minutes and am ready to invest in a good pair. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
peanutbutterfingers says
i am dying for the tori burch flats but they cost as much as my rent. 😉 also, i got a pair of toms for my bday that are ridiculously comfy but not exactly good looking… 🙂
Khushboo says
Sorry to butt in but I own a pair of tori burch and swear by them! SO comfortable and I know they cost a lot but I’ve owned my pair for over 2 years and they still look great. Worth the investment!
Rachel says
OK great, thank you both for your help!
Abby says
Breakfast for dinner is love! I agree–when I get the chance to go to Barnes and Noble I could be there for the entire day easily! 🙂
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I have heard that book is excellent!
You had my favorite dinner — except I’d have regular bacon instead of the veggie stuff 🙂
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Barnes and Nobles could literally consume an entire Saturday or Sunday for me. It gets dangerous. I could spend hours looking at books in just about every section. I’ve never read The Help – but have heard wonderful things about it. Can’t wait to see what you think about it!
Rachel says
Your dinner is what I wanted for dinner, but I’m out of eggs 🙁
You will love that book, I just finished it! I bought The Art of Racing in the Rain and The Hunger Games per your reviews. I read Racing and LOVED it, so cute. I’m excited to start the Hunger Games!

JamGrabandGo says
I absolutely loved “the help” it was an amazing read, start to finish. In fact, it was one of the best books I’ve ever read, and trust me, I’m a bookaholic and have read many books in my time. 🙂 If you are looking for another good read, you should try “the same kind of different as me” by Ron hall &Denver Moore. It’s a tear-jerker, but it’s so inspiring. Btw, I totally love breakfast foods for dinner as well 🙂
Mindy says
Here’s another fan of The Help! I read it about a year ago and LOVED it. My copy has made it’s way around my family and office. I can’t wait for the movie!
Cat says
So glad I’m not the only one that refers to them as “dippy” eggs. I miss them right now so bad. (pregnant and they are off limits) They’re seriously right up there with wine.
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Ohhh my mom recently read that book and RAVED about it! She’s bringing it up to me when she visits in May so I can read it. I can’t wait!
Jane says
I have bought Water for Elephants and Racing in the Rain from your reviews so I can’t wait to hear what you think about The Help.
Also, I would love to know how you made those eggs. I absolutely love eggs and they look amazing. Mine never turn out how I want them.
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy Girl" says
haha that’s actually a very smart way to see if you like a book. I totally look at the cover. OOOPS. I swear that’s not how I am with everything else, just books 🙂 I feel you on the computer problems. That was me this afternoon. Glad it finally worked out!
Chelsea J says
My best friend has recommended The Help to me several times, but I am still on the waiting list for it at the library!
Don’t you hate computers! I have a mac so when I get the rainbow circle of death I want to smash it into a million pieces.

That dinner is so making me crave breakfast right now. 😛
Joanna@DrizzleofSunshine says
Ooo! I’ve been wondering about that book! Let us know how it goes!
Kristen @ Chocolate Covered Kristen says
That book was great, but as a fellow dog lover I have to Suggest “The Art of Racing in the Rain.” It’s wonderful! The story id told from the pov of a dog (sounds weird, I know – I was skeptical, too). I read the whole thing on a flight from DC to Miami. I think you’d like it… and you’ll def want to hug Sadie when it’s over.
Kristen @ Chocolate Covered Kristen says

this is random and has nothing to do with books (but The Help is FABULOUS!)..
can you please please please post that promised video or even just instructions on veggie roasting? I am absolutely helpless in the kitchen …. literally helpless but they look so good in your meals!
also- does anyone out there have any good books/ non local classes (unless local means northeastern Ohio)/ or videos for BEGINNING cooking.. as in very very beginning… as in how to chop up a head of lettuce beginning?
