Since both of my parents worked as I was growing up, my sister and I attended an after-school childcare program through elementary school. Butts Up was one of my all-time favorite games!
This morning, I think the swans out by Lake Eola were playing their own rendition of Butts Up.
Sadie was quite intrigued by the inverted birds on our morning walk.
Apparently she’s a butt-lover just like her daddy. 😉
Catching Fire + Workout
We went on our walk after working out at the gym. I was so not in the mood to go to the gym this morning because I didn’t sleep well last night. Ryan and I finished reading Catching Fire and started the third book in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay. We left off at a pretty intense point which had my mind racing throughout the night.
For those of you curious about my take on Catching Fire, I really liked it!
I was taken by surprise a lot more in the second book than I was in the first book. Both were suspenseful, riveting and definite page-turners. To me, Catching Fire seemed like an interim book and concludes in an unsatisfying way. If you read this book, make sure to have the next one from the series on had to begin immediately because there are a lot of loose ends that still need to be tied up. Hopefully Mockingjay will do just that!
Anyway, after a restless sleep, I wasn’t feeling overly motivated this morning. I laid in bed and told myself I would feel much better after a workout even if I struggled to get myself to the gym.
I was right!
After a BodyPump class and 10 minutes on the elliptical, I felt refreshed and ready for the day. It never fails!
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning was my favorite breakfast of 2011…
Toasted cinnamon raisin bagel thin + Melted Muenster cheese + Fried egg white
With cheese this gooey, how could this meal not taste great?
Breakfasts this good make me excited…
Maybe a little too excited?

I love your dress Julie! I did Body Pump this morning as well and hoooooly biceps! Have a fabulous day! 🙂
I get a kick out of the ducks that play butts up in the pond 😉 hahaha! Sadie wants to play too!
Glad you had a great start to your morning and were able to buff off a restless night 🙂
Yummy!
I can’t believe I forgot to buy eggs :/
UHM
I don’t know what the butts up game is, BUT I do love your dress!
I love muenster cheese! Food can never make you too excited 🙂
I just started reading Hunger Games this weekend and LOVE it. I’m in the last section and am dying to pick it back up – unfortunately I don’t think my company would appreciate me reading during work hours. 🙁
What on earth is butts up!?
I seriously laughed out loud at the part that said Sadie’s like her daddy. That’s awsome!
Want to mail Catching Fire my way? 😉 I just finished The Hunger Games and am ready for the next book! Koda loves ducks (and their butts) too 🙂
Haha, you went there!
I never regret a morning workout/run. 🙂 however, I opted for breakfast with mark this a.m. which was fun! P.s. cute outfit!
No such thing as TOO excited for a good breakfast!
I went and got “The Hunger Games” book…now to find the time to start it!
I just bought all 3 books for “The Hunger Games,” can’t wait to start reading them! Also, I’ve never heard of Butts Up, is it similar to thumbs up?
I love that picture of Sadie! She looks so funny! What a delicious breakfast! I haven’t had eggs in like over a week. I definitely need a egg sandwich asap! 🙂
Love your outfit!!!
I’ve seriously got to find a Body Pump class near me!
I had no idea what Butts Up was until I looked it up- we just called it Wall Ball!! And I was ALWAYS the first person out. No coordination, haha.
Your white dress is super adorable. Wish it was warm enough for cute clothes up here!!
Hahaha love your excited face 😀
I have never heard of the butts up game before.
I hate when my mind is racing and I can’t get a good night sleep! Good for you getting up and working out anyways! 🙂
I also really struggled to get to the gym this morning, but felt heaps better afterwards! Love endorphins 🙂
Oh yay…thanks for listing my quote today! Kind of fitting considering you didn’t let your mind rule you this morning and you went to the gym! YAY!
Never played Butts Up before – but it sounds fun!
Julie today is National Peanut Butter day!!!!!!!!!! Haha.
You MUST honor it 🙂
Love that book!!!
Hope you have a happy Monday! =D
Check out today’s national food holiday:

I, also, had to look up Butts Up and found out it’s basically Wall Ball. Not sure what throwing a BALL at a WALL has to do with butts, lol.
We always used to play butts up after soccer practice when I was younger…I swear we played one time in high school and I got nailed with the ball so hard that I had a ball mark on my butt for days! I think that game is only fun when you are the one doing the kicking.
I am still waiting for this to come into the library. it’s been on hold for almost two weeks. I am so anxious to read it! I better put the third one on hold now. HA! But my luck, that one will come in before this one. ha!
Body Pump and a toasted cheesy bagel is the perfect way to start the day!
Cute dress!!! 😀
I am intrigued by your review of the books; I feel like I must read them now.
I’m still waiting for Hunger Games to be returned to my library so I can finally read it! I’ve heard such great things about it.
I’ve always been tempted to read The Hunger Games series, but I was too skeptical to go out and read them. After reading your posts about the series, I think I may end up giving in!
P.S. Your dress is absolutely adorable 🙂
Hmmm . . . . that game sounds sort of familiar, but like 25 years ago or something.
At first I thought you were talking about a “Heads Up 7 Up” but with a weird name.
I LOVE your breakfast. It looks so good and just perfect.
A lot of times when I don’t get enough rest and try to workout, I feel even worse. I know that a lot of people feel better after workouts, including me, but only when I have the energy.
Cute post! Julie, where do you find those cinnamon raisin bagel thins? I’ve look at different stores, but nobody carries them. I guess they haven’t made it here yet in North Alabama. 🙁
Laurie —
They should have them at your regular chain grocery store. A few different brands make them I think…but if not, maybe try ordering on Amazon?
laura’s right! i buy them at my chain grocery store (publix). they’re pretty new though i think.
OK, I’ll keep checking! Thanks Laura and Julie!
Love your outfit! You should post more outfit posts, you always look so cute! 🙂
Do you use regular or low-fat Muenster? I know it’s “better” for you, but I simply can’t bear the taste of low-fat cheese!
full-fat baby!
Is butts up like heads up seven up?? I sounds the same maybe…I loved that game!
no they’re different, but i loved head’s up seven up!
I have never heard of Butt’s Up… how exactly do you play?! Sounds like something I’d like, haaa!
Also… love that quote you featured at the end. It rings so true to me. You can’t control what happens to you in life, but you sure can control your reactions to it…
First thing I thought of when I saw the pic of Sadie checking out the birdie butts was her birthday challenge. You know she digs some poultry!
Your breakfast sammie sounds delish! I forget about pairing cinnamon raisin with savory flavors. I once had a ham, cheese, and leek sandwich on cinnamon raisin bread that was to die for!
I just finished reading the Hunger Games trilogy and I really liked it. I was so into it I bought the e-version of Mockingjay when book 2 finished so abruptly. Hope you like the rest of it!
Where did you get Sadie’s cute little coat?
petsmart! it’s made by martha stewart.
