Tonight I used the the very last food item from my Healthy Living Summit swag bag to make a delicious dinner!
I used a box of Eden Organic kamut ditalini pasta to make a cheesy baked pasta dish that totally hit the spot after yesterday’s pasta cravings.
Cheesy Baked Pasta
Serves two, or one very hungry person
(Note: If serving two, you will likely want a side for along with this dish, as the serving size is rather small for two people)
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook + Bake Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup whole grain ditalini pasta, uncooked
- 1 can chicken, drained (4.5 ounces)
- 1 cup steamed broccoli
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 tablespoons Italian breadcrumbs
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and set aside
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook pasta until it’s al dente (slightly firm)
- Remove pasta from heat, drain and place back into pot
- Add chicken, broccoli and 3/4 cup of the cheese, stirring until cheese begins to melt
- Add marinara sauce and breadcrumbs and stir until everything is mixed together
- Top with remaining 1/4 cup of cheese and bake for 10 minutes until cheese is melted
This was a super-cheesy dinner winner in our house tonight! It kind of reminded me of baked ziti or mostacholi. So good!
In Need of a New Show
With Bachelor Pad over and Jersey Shore not interesting me like it used to (well, we always DVR it, but we’re not motivated to stay up and watch it like we used to be), I’m out of television shows that excite me. (Please refrain judgment on my show choices.)
I really like having one show to look forward to during the week and feel like I must be missing out on some quality show out there right now.
Why can’t Friends still be running? Wah.
Anyway, if you have any “must watch” shows that you’ve been enjoying lately, feel free to share! Since Ryan and I have no friends in our new hometown yet, we’re looking to make some new television friends until we get some kind of a social life here.
Gosh, I sound so pathetic.
Sweet and Savvy says
This recipe Sounds Awesome!!! I love cheesy pasta!:)
sherri scott says
Believe it or not…the new season of the Bachelor doesn’t start until January! So bummed about this…

Hi…I have never commented on here before, but I read your blog sometimes and I think it is great. I am not sure if these shows have been mentioned yet…but my suggestions are: Modern Family, Glee, and Parenthood. Enjoy!

Mallory @ It's Only Life, After All says
I swear I said this exact thing today! I was complaining Bachelor Pad was over, because sadly, that (other than actual Bachelor/Bachelorette) is basically the only show I watch other than Kardashians/JShore (K is over too, JShore I agree with you– not too entertaining as of late)
Doesn’t the Bachelor start soonish? 😉
peanutbutterfingers says
not until january! boo!
Lindsay says

That pasta seriously looks delicious, yum!
As for exciting tv shows, luckily there should be lots of new ones coming out in the fall. Project Runway is a winner and definitely gets you excited from week to week. Even though it’s not currently with new episodes, Pretty Little Liars is quite entertaining, definitely keeps you wanting to know what happens. 🙂
Soleil Doux @ Soleil Doux Blog says
I totally agree about PLL! Such an awesome guilty-pleasure show. Actually, that applies to just about any ABC Family show. If you have Netflix, check out Make It or Break It and Switched at Birth! I love ’em all. 😀
How I Met Your Mother and Happy Endings are two great shows back on the air soon that I think are perfect for couples to watch together! 🙂
Glee is also a lot of fun…!

Lee @ in the pink of condition says

Oh and true blood on DVD. Unfortunately the 4th season just ended last week but I highly recommend it! My housemate got the first DVD for Christmas last year and we got sucked into it (no pun intended) right away!

Morgan @ Endorphaholic says
Modern Family!!!
Amy says
Parenthood and Modern Family are both really good. I also like “Against the Wall” if you like cop shows.
Becky says
Those are my 3 favorite shows!
Modern Family is amazing because every character is hilarious.
Parenthood is so good because each of the “mini-families” within the Braverman family has it’s own set of problems and makes it so easy to relate to.
And Against the Wall is awesome because there’s a strong female role and lots of hot male cops!
All 3 are great for both a guy and a girl to watch. Definitely worth checking them out!
forloveofcarrots says
Rachel zoe project, its on too late for me so I catch it on free on demand. Next week starts a new show I have been looking forward to “new girl” staring zoey deschanel. Modern family and Mike and Molly are good laughs too!
Courtney O says
NBC’s Thursday night sitcoms – Community, Parks & Rec, 30 Rock and The Office – are all fantastic! I also love It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but it’s definitely an acquired taste.
I’m not generally into reality TV, but I have to admit I find Dance Moms strangely captivating…
peanutbutterfingers says
i watched a few episodes of it’s always sunny in philadelphia and thought it was hysterical! i should watch that again…
Heather says
How I Met Your Mother is definitely my “must watch” show of the week!!! It’s so funny. Neil Patrick Harris makes the show.
Nicole @ PancakesandPilates says
This. Looks. AWESOME. Such cute pasta! So many colors! So much prominent, cheesy goodness!
Glee and True Blood are my obsessions. True Blood just ended and I have no idea what I will do on Sunday nights besides bake 🙂

Guilty pleasure…DANCE MOMS! On tonight at 9 & 10 on Lifetime 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
LOL
Lori says
I watch that show too, I feel so bad for those girls, you can tell some of them hate dancing but just do it cause they have to or to make thier moms happy.
Corey says
Gossip Girl!! It replaces the Monday night Bachelor/Bachelor Pad and is awesome! But you might have to Hulu or watch the first several seasons on Demand to get caught up. I promise you will not be disappointed!

jessie says
Modern Family is phenomenal!
Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) says
I heart this comment SO much! Rookie Blue is an amazing show!! 🙂
Danielle @ Dish'n'dash says
Although the second season just ended, Rookie Blue is great. Short seasons – about 13 episodes. Some drama, some comedy, some policy action – and it is Canadian! yay! It does air in the US but I’m not sure which channel.
Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) says
Oh gosh, I like way too many shows.. I am a self-admitted tv junkie. So yes, I have some suggestions! lol.
Comedy – Modern Family, Community, Raising Hope, Mike and Molly, Happy Endings, Glee, How I Met Your Mother or Big Bang Theory.
Drama – Grey’s Anatomy, The Vampire Diaries, or Rookie Blue (Technically a summer series, but worth watching!).
Crime – Castle or Criminal Minds
There are also some new shows I’m looking forward to checking out like PanAm, 2 Broke Girls and New Girl. They might turn out good. 🙂
Okay, done being a huge TV nerd now! I hope you find something you like.
peanutbutterfingers says
hahaha this is awesome.
Kristin says
Modern family is HILARIOUS! Love it. I also can’t seem to stop watching every new season of Grey’s Anatomy.

Breaking Bad! It’s on Sunday nights and is so good! I usually don’t get addicted to TV shows, but I look forward to it all week.
