Tonight I used the the very last food item from my Healthy Living Summit swag bag to make a delicious dinner!
I used a box of Eden Organic kamut ditalini pasta to make a cheesy baked pasta dish that totally hit the spot after yesterday’s pasta cravings.
Cheesy Baked Pasta
Serves two, or one very hungry person
(Note: If serving two, you will likely want a side for along with this dish, as the serving size is rather small for two people)
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook + Bake Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup whole grain ditalini pasta, uncooked
- 1 can chicken, drained (4.5 ounces)
- 1 cup steamed broccoli
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 tablespoons Italian breadcrumbs
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and set aside
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook pasta until it’s al dente (slightly firm)
- Remove pasta from heat, drain and place back into pot
- Add chicken, broccoli and 3/4 cup of the cheese, stirring until cheese begins to melt
- Add marinara sauce and breadcrumbs and stir until everything is mixed together
- Top with remaining 1/4 cup of cheese and bake for 10 minutes until cheese is melted
This was a super-cheesy dinner winner in our house tonight! It kind of reminded me of baked ziti or mostacholi. So good!
In Need of a New Show
With Bachelor Pad over and Jersey Shore not interesting me like it used to (well, we always DVR it, but we’re not motivated to stay up and watch it like we used to be), I’m out of television shows that excite me. (Please refrain judgment on my show choices.)
I really like having one show to look forward to during the week and feel like I must be missing out on some quality show out there right now.
Why can’t Friends still be running? Wah.
Anyway, if you have any “must watch” shows that you’ve been enjoying lately, feel free to share! Since Ryan and I have no friends in our new hometown yet, we’re looking to make some new television friends until we get some kind of a social life here.
Gosh, I sound so pathetic.
Erica says
MODERN FAMILY!!! So funny. The 3rd season starts up soon and it does not matter if you’ve never watched it before. It’s freaking hilarious. And Glee is always a good choice 😉
meg says
90210 comes back this week! And I’ve also been watching MTV’s “Awkward”, I know they aren’t the most sophisticated shows but they greatly entertain me.
Jenni says
Suits! It’s a fun show about a guy who is a 1st year lawyer and doesn’t have a JSD.
Mel says
I have to second Suits!!! Its alittle different than typical comedy-dramas, the characters are likeable and intriguing and the script is witty and smart. Its new to USA this summer and the whole first season is On Demand (so you can watch it as a marathon or at your leisure).
I think if anything, its worth watching the pilot. I think it was one of my favorite pilots ever – so engaging and quick paced. You’ll love the character interactions and Ryan will totally dig the plot.
If you can’t tell – it was my most anticipated show this summer 🙂
Julia @ Watermelon Smiles says
I love Jersey Shore, but this season hasn’t been that great yet (seriously, all that hype and Mike just ran into a wall?!). I’m super excited for Modern Family, and I always look forward for it to start!
Allison says
if you have netflix i would HIGHLY suggest Mad Men it’s about men that work in advertising in NYC in the 1960’s…sometimes I find it a little depressing because most of the men cheat on their wives (I’d like to stay ignorant and believe this doesn’t happen in the real world) but other than that it’s a really good/addicting show!
Karlee says
I second that. It’s my favorite show of all time, and the main character is easy on the eyes!
Michelle says
I love good television, but I could never get into reality TV (except HGTV). I often don’t watch these when they are actually on and then just marathon entire seasons in a short period of time.
DRAMA
Dexter
Mad Men
Boardwalk Empire
True Blood
Vampire Diaries
Pretty Little Liars
Castle
COMEDY

How I Met Your Mother
Weeds (not a traditional comedy, but is funny in an absurdist kind of way)
Big Bang Theory
Glee
Lauren says
Gossip girl!! It’s on Monday nights so it can be a nice replacement to Bachelor Pad. Plus their fashion is amazing!!
Olivia says
sex and the city!! (but i guess that’s old too)
how i met your mother!! i don’t know where you can find the older seasons, but it’s really good! it’s been the only show i could rank close to (definitely not at or above) friends
JessieBee says
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia! There is nothing normal or appropriate about it, but I love it! PS that pasta bake looks AWESOME
Laura says
90210 and top model just started again! and top model this season is an all star season = ensured drama
Angela says
Modern family is always hilarious, and Glee comes back soon!!
I wish Friends was still on too, nothing will ever replace it. Although, rewatching episodes are still funny too!! haha
Jen says
You NEED to watch Modern Family!
Sara says
You must watch Modern Family!!! My guy and I watch it every week, and it is hilarious!!
Leslee says
Dinner looks delish! Wish I would have seen that before I cooked ours! Haha
Hubs and I love How I Met Your Mother, Sons of Anarchy(guys LOVE this one), Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, and of course everything on Bravo is good in my book!(though not so much the husband’s lol)
Nathan Miller says
Survivor on CBS just started a new season tonight and Man Vs. Food Nation is on !
Also Tim Allens new show comes on in a few weeks!
Shan @ toughmotherrunner says
How I Met Your Mother and Modern Family. I’m also excited about Up All Night. From the previews I feel like it’s going to be a documentary of my life…
Jess@atasteofconfidence says
Greys and Private are coming back on. AND DEXTER! and mad men:)
allison says
If I had a dollar for everyone who just said Modern Family. But yes, that show is hilarious! Also, The Middle is just as funny and it comes on right before MF. Double whammy for wednesdays. Gosh i am in need of another round of SYTYCD!
Emily says
If you’re looking to stick with reality TV, you should watch The Sing Off. It’s on NBC and it’s on Monday nights just like Bachelor Pad was. It’s a competition for acapella groups!!! It’s been on twice before and the groups are AMAZING! I’m a graduate student at the University of Delaware and the school actually has a group competing! Go Deltones! 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
oh yeah!! i LOVED that show last season!! thanks so much for the rec.
chelsea says
Dexter and The Walking Dead are about to come back for th fall season and they’re both soooo amazing!
Lindsey says
Check your TV Guide! They’ve been running Friends EVERY NIGHT on Nick at Night for like 2 hours (in Philly…but maybe you can find it?!). I’m a fan of Tia & Tamara and Giuliana & Bill on Style. They’re pretty entertaining and its on Mondays here.
Beth says
Modern Family! And for your reality fix, I’m totally addicted to Guiliana and Bill – more so after reading their surprisingly entertaining and interesting book (it was free on Kindle one week) – so shockingly good!
Lauren B. says
Don’t worry Julie- I have made BFFs with the Kardashians (via Netflix) since moving to our new town. I’m beginning to worry that my husband wants to be their BFF too! 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
hahah we’re so cool w/ our t.v. friends 🙂
jaci says
Friends is suppose to start being on Nick at Nite!
Karina says
MODERN FAMILY!!! it will change your life! Not really, but it’s hilarious! Watch the previous seasons before the new one starts – you will be soo happy 😀
Melanie says
I feel like you’d really like Picker Sisters! They rejuvenate old junk and turn them into beaaaautiful pieces. The girls are super entertaining and the designer has good taste.
sherri scott says
Seems like we have the same taste in TV! Check out any of the Real Housewives shows on Bravo….warning though, they’re totally addictive!! I love all things Bravo I have to admit…it’s my guilty pleasure.
Megan says
I LOVE Friends! I’m watching the seasons (again) for the billionth time 🙂 I’ve been putting my favorite clips on my blog – and just started Friends trivia on my Facebook page! (Yes, slightly obsessed…or missing the show terribly…)
Anyways, new shows will be starting up next week – between my hubby and I, our DVR will be packed!
Amy says
I see a lot of people have already said this – but Parenthood, I think, is the best show on TV. I love it and am so glad it’s back on 🙂 You should check it out!
Marissa says
Fall shows are starting soon and Modern Family is an absolute-must!!!! You will literally be laughing out loud! When that starts back up, the show The Middle will most likely be starting up again soon, which is also really funny.
Reality Shows: The Real Housewives (right now NJ and Beverly Hills is on), Rachel Zoe, and Top Chef Desserts (maybe you can catch up online since it started a few weeks ago). I am a reality show junkie so I DVR/watch more than I should probably admit lol
Heidi says
watch Modern Family on Wed evenings and there is a new show that started tonight called Up all Night (with Christina Applegate and Will Arnett)
Lauren says
Glee and Castle are my two favorites–both start next week! The Glee Project is over but it was adorable, so I’d recommend watching it online 🙂
PS I meant to make this comment on an earlier post but forgot–your parents sound like they have a sweet love story (you mentioned they met in kindergarten?). Would they be willing to share? I love love stories!
peanutbutterfingers says
i should! they were in the same kindergarten class and started dating when they were 16 in high school. 🙂
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
America’s Next Top Model just started tonight! Other than that I’m a big Bravo fan — Real Housewives, Top Chef, etc. Dexter starts Oct 2 on Showtime, you have time to catch up on the last 6 seasons if you want!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
I am waiting for Bones to come back! That really is the only tv show I watch! Haha 🙂
Claire says
Parenthood is great.
Here are some other shows that are on DVD and have been some of the best shows on TV: The Wire, Dexter, Mad Men, Breaking Bad. I recommend them all!!!!
Jess says
I love Suits! It just ended but I’m sure reruns will be on for a while. Favorite reality shows right now are Dance Moms, Rachel Zoe, and Millionaire Matchmaker!
Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups says
I am obsessed with Suits on USA. They’re on a fall break right now, but they’ve only had one season. You should catch up!
Heather says
Friends is on Nick at Nite at 10! Maybe you couldDVR the episodes and watch them the following night. (:
Julia says
Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother!
Yayan @ About a Kitten says
I’m going with previous posts here and saying CASTLE!!! It starts next Monday! 🙂
I also love Happy Endings. It’s kiiiind of like Friends, if you stretch it a little. Same level of hilarity!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
there are tons of great shows, but they’ve all either ended or don’t start for a couple weeks! I feel like we are in a very frustrating place in the television world. Honestly, I’m excited about Biggest Loser starting up again in a couple weeks, I never watched it until about 2 seasons ago but now I’m hooked! I think it’s because it involves exercising and eating, which are big interests of mine, with the human interest – I get so happy for them when they do well! ok, yes, i’m crazy.
Vanessa says
I cannot recommend Modern Family enough. So funny, I tell everyone about that show now. Totally worth the money to buy the DVDs (season 3 starts next wednesday)
Tori says
Chandler- what was this sentence originally?
Joey- they are warm, nice, people with big hearts.
Chandler- and that became…they are humid, prepossesing homo-sapiens with full sized aortic pumps.
Monica- we can’t use this…because you signed it baby kangaroo tribiani.
= )
peanutbutterfingers says
LOLLLL
mary says
modern family and the lying game just watch hulu
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Cheese and pasta = such a GREAT mix!
I don’t watch Tv….unless it is Drop Dead Diva—BEST show ever!!
Ali @ Ali Runs says
It sounds like everyone in the blog world has been craving pasta. I have seen a lot of that around tonight. 🙂 Personally, I love Friends. I own all of the seasons and have actually done several posts on my blog about my obsession.
In addition to that, I really love the Real Housewives series. It’s mindless entertainment, however, I’m not sure it’d be Ryan’s thing. More of a girlie show.
Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) says
That totally looks delicious!!!
Ugh, I know what you mean about new shows.. I am LOVING that Friends is now on constant repeat on Nick at Nite (which, holy moly, how old are we that a show our generation used to watch weekly is now old enough to be on Nick at Nite?!). I really want to like the new Zooey Deschanel show when it starts, and the Christina Applegate one called Up All Night – I have it on right now.. we’ll see. 😉
Allie says
Breaking Bad is an amazing show..but pretty intense. Amazing Race, Glee, Top Chef, and 30 Rock are all really fun shows too!
dee says
The New Girl is one show I’m looking forward to watching. Glee is coming back, too!
Julie says
Gossip Girl and Modern Family
