Tonight I used the the very last food item from my Healthy Living Summit swag bag to make a delicious dinner!
I used a box of Eden Organic kamut ditalini pasta to make a cheesy baked pasta dish that totally hit the spot after yesterday’s pasta cravings.
Cheesy Baked Pasta
Serves two, or one very hungry person
(Note: If serving two, you will likely want a side for along with this dish, as the serving size is rather small for two people)
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook + Bake Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup whole grain ditalini pasta, uncooked
- 1 can chicken, drained (4.5 ounces)
- 1 cup steamed broccoli
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 tablespoons Italian breadcrumbs
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray and set aside
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook pasta until it’s al dente (slightly firm)
- Remove pasta from heat, drain and place back into pot
- Add chicken, broccoli and 3/4 cup of the cheese, stirring until cheese begins to melt
- Add marinara sauce and breadcrumbs and stir until everything is mixed together
- Top with remaining 1/4 cup of cheese and bake for 10 minutes until cheese is melted
This was a super-cheesy dinner winner in our house tonight! It kind of reminded me of baked ziti or mostacholi. So good!
In Need of a New Show
With Bachelor Pad over and Jersey Shore not interesting me like it used to (well, we always DVR it, but we’re not motivated to stay up and watch it like we used to be), I’m out of television shows that excite me. (Please refrain judgment on my show choices.)
I really like having one show to look forward to during the week and feel like I must be missing out on some quality show out there right now.
Why can’t Friends still be running? Wah.
Anyway, if you have any “must watch” shows that you’ve been enjoying lately, feel free to share! Since Ryan and I have no friends in our new hometown yet, we’re looking to make some new television friends until we get some kind of a social life here.
Gosh, I sound so pathetic.
Lauren says
Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory! Both will make you pee your pants!
Danica @ It's Progression Not Perfection says
you should definitely watch *How I Met Your Mother*!!
I used to just love FRIENDS, and I honestly love HIMYM even more : )
peanutbutterfingers says
i’ve heard HIMYM fills the friends void!
Ashley says
I second Glee and Modern Family. I used Netflix to catch up on all the Glee episodes this summer so I’m excited for the new season! Like really excited!
Catherine says
Comedy: Modern Family, The Middle, Big Bang Theory, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, How I Met Your Mother
Drama: Homeland (new show on Showtime… intense but good), Dexter
Reality: Survivor (oldie but a goodie)
I work in Entertainment so I check out a lot of shows 🙂
Trainer Kjirsten @ Balanced Healthy Life says
My must watch show that I’m totally looking forward to is Glee! Give it a try! You’ll LOVE it!
alli says
gLee on Tuesday and the real world on Wednesday..both starting next week..I’m set 🙂 tv > studying!
Lindsey says
I love Glee, Dexter and Modern Family – all great pics 🙂
I was planning on having pasta tonight – totally craving it but a after work meeting ran till 8pm which meant soup for supper instead! Tomorrow night! Must be the fall like weather that has me craving more pasta!
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
Okay first off that pasta looks amazing!! I love cheese wayy too much!
Second off- Real Housewives!! Omg, Beverly HIlls & NJ are amazing and they are so ridiculously fun to watch! I also LOVE Bethenney Ever After and totally recommend that!
Alanna says
While I don’t think we have the same taste in TV I would recommend checking out True Blood (the latest season just ended but I imagine they do reruns? I just have no tv, I just download so that may be out of the question for you haha)
Desperate Housewives, I really enjoy. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is starting a new season tomorrow (this show is hilarious). House is another great one, new season starting soon as well.
Did you see Geordie Shore?? It’s Britain’s version of the Jersey Shore and while I hated Jersey, I liked Geordie so you might want to check it out. Free on MTV online.
Emilee says
Survivor !!! Great show just started tonight!! CBS 8:00:) ps that looks yummy!
Kate says
Parks and Recreation: it’s about to come to the fourth season, so you can catch up! So funny though!!! Amy Poehler at her best! And if you’re looking for a guilty pleasure there’s always America’s Next Top Model: All Stars!
Sarah says
Modern Family!!!
Cynthia says
There is a new show called Up All Night that premieres tonight. It is a comedy with Christina Applegate and looks hilarious. I agree with Kate about Parks and Recreation. My husband and I just got into it last season and it is freaking hilarious. There is also a new show with Sarah Michelle Gellar called Ringer. It premiered this week and is more of a drama. Looks good so far!
alissa says
I personally watch Pretty Little Liars (currently waiting for the next episode in October), Project Runway, Ace of Cakes, Cake Boss…
Lindsey says
I have every season of Friends on DVD and I fall asleep to it every night. I watch it in order. When the finale ends are start back with the pilot episode. Is this sad? I find it normal because my sister does it too! I have been alternating Friends and How I Met Your Mother lately. If you’ve never seen it…get them on Netflix. You won’t regret it!
I also love Glee and I’m looking forward to the new Rachel Bilson show, Hart of Dixie on The CW.
mallory says
my husband and i just got addicted to “damages” on netflix. i know it plays on FX, but not sure when seeing as how we’ve only caught up on season 1 and 2. super suspenseful and crazy though! it’s a show we both have quickly become addicted to. if you have netflix, the first 2 seasons are available to stream!
Heather@The World Through My Eyes says
Someone else mentioned this, but if you have Netflix, Make It or Break It is lots of fun! Totally cheesy but equally awesome!
As far as my addiction? Biggest Loser starts next week! Anna Kournikova is taking over for Jillian which I’m a little unsure about it, but it should be interesting to see at least!
Jessica Corbin says
Project Runway for sure, looooove that show. Chopped is ALWAYS on and thats awesome, so is Hell’s Kitchen. Survivor just started tonight!!!!! That is the best for sure!!
Orla says
VAMPIRE DIARIES! It’s so good! We definitely share a taste in YA books, so I think you’ll love this too.
Don’t tar it with the Twilight brush as it’s much better. The female lead is nowhere near as blah as Bella (as in she actually does something rather than sitting around helplessly while men decide her fate in life, yes, I have Bella issues!), and the guys are way hotter. Joking aside, that’s not why I watch – the plot is amazing and constantly twists and turns – but it doesn’t hurt 😉 It reminds me of all those years I spent watching Buffy, and the minute an episode ends I’m itching for the next one. It’s the tv version of a page-turner!
In new shows, I’m going to try out:
New Girl
Up All Night
Pan Am
Terra Nova
Ringer
The Secret Circle
And in old shows:
Grey’s
Private Practice
HIMYM (this is awesome, particularly the early seasons)
Glee
90210
Nadine says
Easy list from EW 😉 http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/08/19/fall-2011-12-tv-schedule-dates/?ew%5FpackageID=20302134
Amanda says

Ali says
I can’t wait for the last season of Desperate Housewives… I’m going to be so sad when it’s over. I also really like Dexter!
Cait's Plate says
Oh my that just looks absolutely incredible. I highly recommend Parks and Rec and Modern Family – both AWESOME shows.
Allyssa says
I watched the pilot episode of New Girl and I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s supposedly one of the “must watch” shows this fall. You should definitely check it out.
Michelle says
After looking at the comments I feel like I’m totally missing out on Modern Family!
Definitely check out Dexter. It is awesome and not as scary as a show about a serial killer should be… haha. It’s a Showtime show but the first couple seasons are on Netflix.
Joe @ The Frolicking Fells says
We love Kendra!
erica says
i love vampire diaries, glee, gossip girl, csi miami & las vegas, ncis, criminal minds, game of thrones, and i want to check out the ringer and heart of dixie.

I couldn’t agree more with the tv show comment. I cant wait for bachelor to come back on- i have just had NO interest in the bachelor pad- it’s so trashy! but you should check out Suits on USA. The season just ended but it’s such a good show! You and your hubby should start watching! If only abc would have a show on JP and Ashley after the after the final rose… haha have a good night!

Julie says
I like anything generally on TLC or Bravo think Cake Boss, Housewives, Millionaire Matchmaker, etc.. Foodnetwork is always good for mindless entertainment too…and good recipe ideas. As for weekly “must watch shows” my go-tos are Grey’s Anatomy and a new shower, Parenthood on NBC which actually just started up again! Good luck 🙂
Julie says
Oh and I almost forgot…How I Met Your Mother…soo funny!
Ari @ Ari's Menu says
Project Runway, Top Chef Just Desserts, and my trashy tv choice–Millionaire Matchmaker :O)
Rebecca W. says

Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Looks amazing!! Let’s see, as a big TV watcher (and I mean BIG) I have a few suggestions…
The Good Wife (my new obsession)
Grey’s Anatomy
Arrested Development (all on Netflix!)
Vampire Diaries
30 Rock
How I Met Your Mother
And if you want something old school but still amazing–Gilmore Girls! That show will never, ever get old for me!
Terri says
I enjoy Parenthood a LOT especially because it has Laurlei from Gilmore Girls (as she will forever be known as in my heart) in it. Also, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Off the Map are all pretty good and supposed to be starting their seasons again soon. Hope that helps!
Melissa Simson says

I’m sure someone has mentioned this already but do you watch Real Housewives? Whoo whee do you wanna talk about drama?! If you like all the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows, then I think you’ll definitely like RH. And the Beverly Hills season just started and it’s by far the best one out of all of them, you should start watching it! 🙂
Hannah says
MODERN FAMILY. new episodes next week, but you should definitely watch the old ones online. Its hilarious.
Carrie says
sTOP this look sSO GOOD!
Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) says

If you type “free tv online” in google, you can find the site immediatly..
I like to watch Pretty little liars ( A lil bit teeny bopperish, but I love highshool themed shows) and I also LOVE True blood.. Some sexy vampires anyone? 😉
ellalinea says
pretty little liars : 8.1 rating on imdb
Four friends band together against an anonymous foe who threatens to reveal their darkest secrets, whilst unraveling the mystery of the murder of their best friend.
