Mountain climbers. My day began with one billion mountain climbers.
Today’s Best Body Boot Camp workout paired a strength exercise with a cardio burst exercise. And yes, mountain climbers popped up a lot. I did four rounds of the circuit and my face was dripping sweat. I still don’t understand why my face sweats ten times more than the rest of my body. What a joy.
Breakfast
Breakfast this morning began with a cup of Greek yogurt that I ate while I prepared a batch of scrambled eggs with chopped peppers, shredded cheese, feta cheese and avocado.
In the middle of writing this blog post, I got a craving for coffee and made myself a cup of peppermint mocha coffee and topped it with frothy chocolate almond milk.
Not a bad way to start the day!
Blog Updates
- The fabulous Ryan helped me figure out what was going on with the Blendtec giveaway and I was able to work with Site 5 (my website host) to get it working again yesterday! I’m sorry some of you had a hard time entering, but it is up and running again. Thank you for your patience!
- We also figured out that the Fashion page wasn’t updating, so you can see two previous posts here and here. Apparently they were popping up in Google Reader, but not on the actual page. Technology rocks!

When I was in 3rd grade (a long time ago) our teacher would take us for some gym time every day. I remember one of her favorite things to have us do was mountain climbers – but she’d have us do 10 and then jump up and do jumping jacks and then back to the climbers again. At the time, it was actually fun and probably smart on her part because it burned off a lot of excess energy. 🙂
Oh mountain climbers are so tough! Good for you… and my face gets bright red everytime I work out and sweats crazy too!
Ahhh, mountain climbers rival burpees for most hated metabolic conditioning exercise! Gets the HR up *and* burns out those legs. How did you froth up the almond milk like that? Do you have a frother (I’m sure that’s not the technical term, LOL)?
ha! i used a frother! just added it to my amazon store: http://tinyurl.com/anccfqp if you live near an ikea, i’ve heard they sell frothers for REALLY cheap, too!
I have a milk frother that I got for $10 from Bed & Bath. It works great!
Oooo mountain climbers bring me back to 4th grade PE….fun days! I love chocolate almond milk!
Dear Julie,
Please come to my apartment and make me peppermint mocha coffee with frothy chocolate almond milk right now. That sounds SO GOOD.
Love,
Anne
p.s. Thank you for sharing a link to my post yesterday!
my pleasure! i loved that post!!
Oh yeah I saw those fashion posts on Google Reader awhile ago. Go figure!
i didn’t even realize they weren’t updating until earlier this week! whoops!
I had some leftover meatloaf and decided to try one of your scrambled egg “mix ups”. That’s my name for it anyway! So I crumbled up the meatloaf, scrambled two eggs and added diced red and yellow pepper. It was yummy! Great way to get some veggies and use the leftovers. Thanks!
Wow. My black unflavored coffee sounds really boring right about now!
Chocolate Almond Milk foam sounds yummy! I am a huge fan of Almond milk. It’s my favorite 🙂
oh my gosh today’s BBB was a killer and at first glance I said to myself I really don’t want to do this I don’t think I will get a good workout in. Oh boy was I wrong! Those mountain climbers and popovers kept me sweating!
Nothing better than chocolate milk. I’ve never tried almond milk… maybe i should think about that.
Mountain climbers: the best worst way to start your day! ha

I have the same mug with a giant “M” on it. 🙂 Just makes me feel good in the morning.
Julie, I have been following you for a while and am so amazed by your work-out dedication. I have more than enough time in the morning to exercise before work. And I don’t. I keep hitting snooze. It’s just me so I’m responsible for myself but I can’t seem to do it. Any suggestions?
hi maureen! i actually wrote a post all about transitioning to morning workouts, which you may find here: https://www.pbfingers.com/2010/08/16/how-to-work-out-in-the-morning/
Looove me some peppermint mocha. Never tried making it at home though. I should probably give it a whirl.
I feel the same way about sweating around my face! at first it really bugged me because my face would get red and I would have sweat dripping down, but I just have to accept it! and it makes it look like I’m working really hard:)
Okay so since you eat Greek Yogurt cups, you may enjoy my most recent discovery, which is Chobani 100 Calorie cups with raspberries and dark chocolate. It’s the PERFECT thing to have for dessert! I just saw them in my grocery store for the first time and got like 8.
That coffee sounds out of this world!
When I exercise (especially when I run), I look like a beast, especially my hair. Like I just stepped out of a (gross smelling) shower.
Frothy chocolate milk aounds like the perfect coffee addition!
I get so frustrated when things go wrong with my blog. It makes me feel completely helpless!! Technology strugglesss
Somehow I got mixed up and misread that you had scrambled eggs….I thought you piled avocado and veggies on greek yogurt! Eeek haha
Hi Julie! I’ve been reading (and loving) your blog for a while now and I have a question. Do you eat before you workout in the morning? I’m not a big morning exerciser but when I do I’m never quite sure of whether I should eat or not before hand. Thanks 🙂
I’ve been doing lots of mountain climbers recently. I do them between lifting sets to get my heart rate up and burn those abs/legs! That coffee combo sounds heavenly!
omg that coffee looks delicious!!

I really need to invest in a good frother. I love foamy milk in my coffee, but I usually just end up going to Starbucks and ordering a cappuccino. A frother might save me some money, buuuuuut then again, I kind of go to Bux because I like sitting in the coffee shop, so having a frother at home might just increase my caffeine consumption 😉
Oh geez, mountain climbers. For me the hard part is that my arms and shoulders get so tired from holding me up!
Hi Julie
Do you make your own peppermint mica creamer or buy flavored coffee? My husband is a huge fan of mochas and I’ve been looking for a good recipe. I tried one from Pinterest but it wasn’t great…
Ugh I can barely hang with one set of 20 mountain climbers, let alone one billion! I feel for you!!!
My face always sweats copiously more than the rest of me as well. Well, face, chest and back. I have always wished I could be one of those girls whose arms sweat because they look so hardcore, all glisteny like that.
Totally craving eggs, feta and avocado now! That shall be my lunch 🙂
Chocolate milk foam? I need a big ol’ glass of that!
I haven’t done today’s Best Body Bootcamp workout yet, but now I’m a little frightened! But I’m totally with you – my face always sweats WAY more than the rest of me! Glad to know I’m not alone. I also tend to get what I like to call “lobster face”, where my face turn bright red and splotchy like I’ve been crying for 3 hours. Oh the joys of being a redhead!
Peppermint coffee with chocolate almond milk…mm! Now I’m craving a trip to Starbucks. And mountain climbers are absolutely killer. My arms die every time!
Those mountain climbers made me super sweaty this morning too! I only completed 3 rounds but that was plenty. Maybe I’ll shoot for 4 rounds next week 😉 Are you doing Tina’s next BBB?
I love mountain climbers 🙂 They are so tough–& when you do ’em slower & across the body (left knee to right elbow)–while keeping your butt down, even harder. OUCH!
That egg dish looks phenom! Totally making that this weekend!
I need to make some of those protein bars sometime soon! Mountain climbers are killer!
I’m scared of summer coming because I can sweat just sitting when it’s warm out, let a lone working out!
My head sweats 10 times more than the rest of my body, too. I also get really sweaty elbows and the backs of my knees sweat a lot. Weirdo.
I am a BIG fan of the vanilla almond milk and I love using the unsweetened original almond milk for cooking. I have never tried the chocolate flavor, though. It sounds SUPER delicious! I would love to use it to make hot cocoa. That would be an extra chocolatey 😉 treat!
I love mountain climbers because they’re just so tough and brutal! I miss it so much I can’t wait to go back to them after pregnancy. And that chocolate froth sounds delicious~I must be craving some caffeine right now, hehe.
Mountain climbers and burpees kick my toosh-ee
Ugh I hate mountain climbers. Have you ever heard of man makers, those are the WORST. It’s like a burpee + satan combined.
one note on mountain climbers. never do after drinking coffee or anything with acid if you have even a TOUCH of acid reflux. it makes for very bad results 🙂 not that i know from experience or anything!
I love chocolate peppermint coffee! And I love the touch of almond milk.. looks soo yummy!
Hey, can I ask where you found your peppermint mocha coffee (assuming it’s store bought)? I became addicted to Dunkin peppermint mocha flavored coffee around the holidays and it’s, sadly, only a seasonal flavor so is now unavailable. I’d live to find more! Thanks. 🙂
Looks delicious! I would so love to try some. I am sure it tastes great.
Yeah, I am a face-sweater, too. Hands, no. Armpits, not really. But face – out of control and kind of embarrassing.
I love a sweaty face! Haha- oh yeah technology is great 😉
