Chocolate Hemp Protein Oatmeal

September 9, 2014 by Julie 36 Comments

Hi guys! Yesterday some of the headaches that come along with moving reared their head. I tried to get internet set up at home yesterday but since someone has to come out and install it, there’s a bit of a delay. I ended up setting an appointment for Wednesday so for the next day or two I’ll probably be doing a lot of work from random spots around town with free wifi like I am right now!

I hoped to get out of the house yesterday after lunch to blog and work from a coffee shop and use their internet, but I ended up waiting around for longer than expected for someone to come out and activate our home security system. Hopefully today will be a little smoother and things will be a little more normal! On the good news front, our new couch will be delivered on Thursday – a solid two weeks ahead of schedule. Woop! (We ended up ordering the Piedmont sectional in linen in “Option B Reversed” from Havertys during their Labor Day sale.)

Aside from some hiccups, overall yesterday was rather productive! Since I was stuck at home, I dedicated my time to hours of unpacking and organizing and made some serious headway. Our kitchen and living room are done, my home office is no longer in shambles (though I want to “refresh” it a bit) and we have two big boxes filled with stuff to donate. Progress!

The highlight of my day came when I saw Brittany in the morning! She brought me a sweet housewarming gift that has already been put to good use.

Housewarming Gift

Apparently she knows I can never have too many candles. Thank you, Brittany, for always making me smile!

Workout + Breakfast

Today began the usual way with a Pure Barre workout. The thigh work we did in today’s class was killer. It involved lots of wall sits (technically barre sits since we weren’t against the wall). My quads were on fiiiire!

After barre, I drove home to fix myself breakfast. It began with a green juice I grabbed from the fridge and ended with some protein oats!

Evolution Green Juice

I used a packet of Manitoba Harvest chocolate plant-based hemp protein I got from the IDEAWorld expo last month, a packet of Chex gluten-free oatmeal the company sent me a while ago and milk to make the oatmeal and loved the chocolaty flavor.

Gluten Free Protein Oatmeal

I was pleasantly surprised by the hemp protein! I added a few drops of NuNaturals liquid vanilla stevia to the oats and thought that helped give them a greater punch of sweetness without overwhelming the bowl.

Chocolate Oats

They looked like death but tasted delicious.

Hope you’re having a great day so far!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Hi Kate! For safety reasons, I won’t be showing the outside of the house on the blog. I’m so sorry to disappoint!! I’ll definitely show pics of the inside as everything comes together though!

Ugh – getting internet and TV and all of that set up is such a pain! I feel for you there, but at least you’re in a big place with plenty of free wi-fi access!

Those chocolatey/hempy oats do look a little dicey but they sound really good! Chocolate first thing in the morning is never a bad thing 😉

The candle you received reminds me that I need to stock up on some new fall candles! And chocolate oats sounds amazing! I was going back and forth between a smoothie or oatmeal, but reading this post is making me crave a warm bowl of oats. I’m happy that y’all are getting moved in and settled into your new home!

Getting everything set up in a new space always takes some time. It’s a good thing there’s so many wifi spots available. You’d be out of luck if it was 10 years ago.

I dropped by to see how you are doing, I miss you guys! I am glad Brittany stopped by. I totally know what you are talking about regarding unpacking. I love the feeling of putting everything away perfectly and looking at the instant results. You master closets sounds much better. Have fun and let’s plan lunch, perhaps next week?

Getting everything setup is a big pain! The day after I moved into my house last year my a/c went out too and it was 115 that day too. At least once it’s done, you don’t have to worry about it unless you need to fix or change something.

I’ve never thought of putting protein powder in oatmeal, but that is a great idea! Really makes me want to do some baking with protein powder haha.

I always add protein powder to my oatmeal, it keeps me full so much longer! My favorite is Sunwarrior Original in Vanilla!

I’ve never tried a Pure Barre class, but it’s definitely on my fitness “to-do list”. I love strength training, so it seems like it would be a challenging change-up for me!

I love me some oatmeal in the mornings too, but seriously, it always looks like straight vomit haha! I do not know how to make a pretty bowl of oats… thank goodness I’m not a food stylist, or anything of the sort!

    I could not stop laughing.

Can I say I’m relieved you mentioned you won’t be posting the outside of your house. You don’t need to give a reason for someone to try to see if they can pinpoint where you live and drive by. When home bloggers show the outside of their home AND the layout, it sends me into twitches! LOL

I love that you got Manitoba harvest hemp protein! I live in Manitoba, Canada and love that our province grows this sort of thing. My husband eats hemp hearts on his greek yogurt every day! Love seeing a local product/business succeed:)

So funny, I’ve been seeing Manitoba Harvest everywhere since IDEA World! I have to agree that the hemp protein was better than I was expecting it to be, and now I’m a fan of theirs. It’s hard to find a yummy vegan protein powder, and I think I need to nab a tub of theirs the next time I’m at the Vitamin Shoppe!
