Sadie had a blast in our backyard. I threw her ball after ball using the Chuck It and she ran her little heart out.
(I think I have a new favorite picture of Sadie!)
Dog owners, if your dog loves to play fetch and you haven’t bought a Chuck It yet, I highly recommend investing in one.
It makes balls go 5,000 times farther (scientific number) and helps keep your shoulder in its socket. All good things.
Plus it helps take dogs from this…
To this…
Rest assured, she’ll be acting crazy again in less than 15 minutes. In fact, she’s giving me a guilt trip for being on the computer already by simply sitting and staring at me.
It’s oddly effective.
Dinner
Dinner came together in a flash thanks to a container of secret sauce I took out of the freezer and reheated.
I boiled some pasta, using the same itty bitty noodles that I used in the chicken soup we had a couple weeks ago.
I topped the pasta with a generous serving of the secret sauce that included a couple of meatballs and some Italian sausage.
I will forever prefer red sauce over white sauce when it comes to pasta. It’s so darn good.
I just got a call that Ryan is on his way home, which means I don’t have too much time to cram in the show I have queued up on our DVR (um, the Kardashian wedding).
See ya in the morning!
P.S. American Wife is spanking the other two books in the poll for the next PBF Book Club book. Rest assured I will be reading Unbroken even if it’s not the top pick!
Alaina says
Ooh, that face looks too hard to resist! Sadie is so cute. 🙂
I am all about the red sauce over pasta too. Unless there’s broccoli and chicken with the pasta. To me, that just has to have a garlic/butter sauce.
Morgane says
I love those pictures of Sadie! The first one is my absolute favorite. 🙂
Rachel says
Sadie is ADORABLE!! It makes me miss my Sadie that much more and want to venture out to the animal shelter and purchase a dog ASAP!
I think I know who nominated “American Wife” 😉 And I did so because I’ve only heard great things about it, so hopefully it can live up to expectations! “Unbroken” also sounds like a must read. Perhaps for the next Book Club you just state that “Unbroken” is the book of the month?! 🙂
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
Yay! So excited to read American Wife with everyone on here!
Have fun watching the Kardashian wedding! So beautiful but kind of sad. I hate to say it but Kris seems like a jerk. :/
Rachel says
I so agree, Erin! It was a gorgeous wedding, but Kris does seem like a jerk. It’s a problem when you’re acting like that days before your wedding :-/
peanutbutterfingers says
i third this!
Krista (kristastes) says
the chuck-it is a little plastic miracle…only thing that leaves my lab with zero energy, aka snooze city. and we all know a tired pup is a happy pup 🙂
laura says
The wedding made me catch kardashian fever…
Jessica S. says
You are so right – having a dog sit and stare is waaaay too effective!
Liz @ Something To Chew On says
Red sauce ALWAYS trumps!
Colleen @ Jimmy Choos on the Treadmill says
I’m not a fan of red sauce, but I wonder if I’d like the secret sauce! From the sound of it, I bet I would!
Sweet and Savvy says
Those are the cutest noodles I’ve ever seen!
Katie @ Raisins&Apples says
I love how the sauce just takes over the pasta!
Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled says
That sauce looks fantastic and so comforting. Yummy!
After reading your post the other day about that BBQ joint you went to with your family, I’ve been craving BBQ chicken and I’m finally getting it tonight. Thanks for igniting my craving!
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
I love your dog. That is all.
Debbie says
Well said, to the point haha. I happen to be in agreement. 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says

Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Red sauce will always win over white sauce with me too! So good 🙂
Sophie @ LoveLiveAndLearn says
That’s a truly fantastic picture!
And goodness that dinner just looks delicious, just the sort of thing I need in this chilly weather 🙂
I’m definitely with you on the pasta sauces, I’m not usually much of white sauce fan, it’s so heavy!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
ha.. we have the chuck it and take it to the dog beach with us (our backyard isn’t big enough to really let it fly). the dogs LOVE it though, and it knocks them out for a solid few hours after playing!
Joelle (On A Pink Typewriter) says
Yummy- din looks fabulous! My mom used to use those tiny noodles all the time when I was little (called ditalini).. Mm, i think I am going to have some pasta tomorrow- red sauce is my fav as well! 🙂
Gen says
Sadie is sooo adorable that she makes me want to go get a vizsla!!!!
Tracy @ Tracy's Treats says
I’m a red sauce kinda gal too. I WISH my dog enjoyed playing fetch as much as Sadie! Mine just looks at the ball and doesn’t know what to do with it!
Millie says
Unbroken is a FABULOUS book. You will really enjoy it. The only reason I didn’t vote for it is because I have already read it.
Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups says
I love our Chuck It because I don’t have to touch the dog slobbered balls!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
My brother has a puppy who isn’t quite into fetch yet (or doesn’t quite grasp the concept) but they’ve already bought a chuck-it!
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
Those little itty bitty noodles sure are tiny, aren’t they?! It’s kind of like a meat sauce stew! Looks delish to me!
Nicole says
I hang my head in shame for watching Kim’s wedding multiple times already.
Unfortunately, our dogs tire of fetch pretty quickly and I end up walking after the ball. So I don’t want it to go too far. But it you have any recommendations for tug toys and games, I am all ears!
Have a great night!
The Kidless Kronicles
Hope says
I seriously love that last picture of Sadie! She looks so confused!
Your dinner looks amazing. I love those little noodles. So cute! 🙂
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Whoa, those noodles are tiny! Looks yummy!
And I totally agree RED trumps white!
kelly anne says
the most important Chuck-It benefit…. not having to physically touch (and then toss) a SLOBBER-laden ball.
MIRACLE!!!
yndsey@proteinandchocolate.blogspot.com says
Unbroken is one of my favorite books! So inspiring. It is a must read.
Mac says
My parents have a chuck it for our dog and it truly is a godsend! We actually have a 8 time limit on how many times we can throw it because it goes so far lol.
Haley B says
Hi! So this is unrelated to this post, but I was wondering what kind of protein powder you use? I’ve been lusting after some of your smoothies (especially the chocolatey ones) but I was blenderless until today. It’s my birthday and my super sweet boyfriend got me one! So now I’m going through all your smoothie recipes, and I see you always use protein powder, but you never really specify what kind. What do you suggest?
peanutbutterfingers says
i’ve been using optimum nutrition gold standard whey lately!
Alex says
I love those cute little noodles! Your dinner makes me what to make that pasta right now..only vegetarianized. 🙂
And I can’t help but point out how precious Sadie is! Your posts about her make me miss having a dog. She seems like such a sweetheart!
Heather Hesington says
OH my gosh, Sadie is ADORABLE & thanks for sharing the Chuck It! We will be investing in that in the near future. Love your blog! 🙂
P.S. The KK”H” wedding was SO flipping gorgeous….*sigh!
Jenn says
That last picture of Sadie is ADORABLE 🙂 I don’t know how you get any work done with her staring at you like that. It would get me every time
Nancy @ Beyoutiful Fitstyle says
Your puppy is so cute! How do you get all those silly pictures of her. I love them! I can’t wait til my puppy get to the point where I can play fetch with her outside without a leash or anything.
peanutbutterfingers says
i take about a million pics! for every 10 pics of her, only about one is “blogworthy.”
Laurel says
This has nothing to do with this post, but I just read about the serial popper in Ocala and was wondering if you heard about it. http://guyism.com/humor/serial-pooper-arrested-in-florida-after-long-search.html
I bet Sadie could catch him!!! How strange!!
Dani @ Dani Delicatessen says

Red sauce is the biggest..hand me a bucket’s worth and a spoon and I’ll be a happy girl (although a side of bread would be great too ;))
Julie says
Saw something in the pet supply store today that could be a win-win for you guys. Golf + chuck-it fun = one happy family (or dog and dog-dad at least!).

Giulia @ Tutupa's Lab says
I can’t believe how expressive Sadie is! And the first picture is great!
I wish my dog liked to play fetch: he’ll play just for a few throws and then get bored. He’s the sniff-and-explore kind of dog
Laura says
Hahaha omg Saddie looks exhausted, definitely should try the Chuck it with my hyperactive girlie…
I also have to catch up on Kim’s wedding hahaha!
Nicole says
Awww, Sadie is so cute. Those pics of her made me laugh!!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
I totally agree — red sauce is the best!
Sadie’s energy levels are pretty amazing! haha
Angela says
I highly recommend getting a laser pointer for your dog (or you)! My dog will chase balls FOREVER and when I tire out or it’s nasty outside, the laser is hours of entertainment for both of us!
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
those itty bitty noodles totally take me back to when I first got my braces on and could only eat the “star” pasta. with butter.
only straight up gourmet for me, apparently.
lauren @ Life's Better With Freckles says
Can we please discuss the Kardashian wedding? Khloe and Lamar got married in 9 days and I think they have a better chance then these 2. You could totally tell they don’t know much about each other, he comes off a little rude and doesn’t seem like he can handle how high maintenance she is. Sounds like a recipe for a winning marriage!
peanutbutterfingers says
i agree! completely!! i like lamar is a really great person whereas kris seems SO wrapped up in “being is own man” that he seems like he’s almost going to go against EVERYTHING kim wants just to make a point.
Laura @ Unchartered 20s says
OMG cramming in the Kardashian wedding – Pfft- that shit is FOUR HOURS!!! And only the last 15 minutes are of the wedding!!
I still watched the whole thing lol!
