When Ryan got off work today, we packed our bags and hit the road for my parents’ house in St. Pete. We booked our flight to Chicago in the morning out of the airport near their house so we could do the ol’ Sadie drop and leave our little girl with them for the weekend.
This meant we got to spend the evening with my family!
My mom prepared a yummy dinner of turkey chili, fruit salad and freshly baked bread.
I went back for thirds of the fruit and bread. What is it about doughy bread that makes it so irresistible? Mmm.
After dinner my parents had “congratulations cupcakes” from a local bakery for us to share in honor of Ryan’s new job offer!
We cut up all of the cupcakes so we could each try bits and pieces of the cakes that interested us. Of course they all appealed to me, so I naturally sampled all of them.
My favorite cupcake was the “Better Than…” flavor (bottom row, middle). It tasted like cookie dough in cake form! So dense and delicious.
After dinner, we stayed at the table talking for a while and picking at the cupcake remains.
My mom also tried to help me find inserts for the shoes I will be wearing at my friend Leah’s wedding on Saturday.
When Leah selected the shoes for the bridesmaids to buy, the website was out of my size, so I had to order a size up in a WIDE shoe. Needless to say they’re a little clunky.
Fortunately we found an insert that make them much more manageable.
And now it’s BED time. We are waking up at 4:15 a.m. (Yikes!) in order to make the first flight to Chicago in the morning. I have some fun guest posts set up for you guys while I am away and hope to pop in a few times as well. I hear they have free internet at the Tampa airport, so I may be able to crank out a deliriously tired 4:45 a.m. post for ya which would be… interesting.
Also, I can’t sign off without thanking you for all of your wonderfully supportive comments about our upcoming move to Ocala. Anytime a big change is on the horizon there are a lot of different emotions involved and having your support and well-wishes means a lot to both me and Ryan. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… You guys are truly the best!
You know another reason why I like your blog so much? Because you don’t deprive yourself of certain foods! That bread looks divine! And the fruit! And the chili! Yeah….I’m just also really hungry right now lol.
Oh wow. I’ve never been the first commenter before! How neat lol.

Cute shoes whether they fit or not:)
What awesome cupcakes!!! Yummy! The shoes are super cute though and making them more manageable is a total plus.
a 4:15 wake-up call just shouldn’t exist.
I am wearing those EXACT shoes for my friend’s wedding I’m in on Saturday! Same color, too! I ordered my usual size and they’re still a lil…clunky. We are bridesmaid shoe twins this weekend! 😉
Mmmm cupcakes! Hope theynwere as delicious as they look 🙂
I want that cupcakes- my 2 faves in one!!
If that is a S’Mores cupcake (in the bottom right) from Gigi’s then I am insanely jealous…I loooove Gigi’s cupcakes. Have a great weekend in Chi-town!
Have an amazing trip!!!
Cupcakes look soo yummy! Sweet Mandy B’s in Chicago (Lincoln Park area) have the BEST cupcakes ever. Have fun in Chi-town!
have fun at the wedding and tell Ryan congrats!! where did you buy the inserts for the shoes? I have no idea where to look and I need some
my mom just had a whole bin full of random inserts so i have no idea! i wish i could be of more help!
I have shoes that look almost identical to those, except in black! And I actually have wide feet. It’s kind of annoying/embarrassing. I appreciate it when cute shoes come in wides, haha.
a little too late, but those shoes look like they’re from DSW (I *love* shoes) and there are tons of sizes online http://www.dsw.com/shoe/kelly+.and.+katie+dahlia+pump?prodId=212669&category=dsw12cat1230022
awesome dinner, and love the cupcake selection! Have a fabulous wedding – hope the early start isn’t too painful! 😉 You’re welcome for the support, I know how you feel… Moving and big life changes can be full of mixed emotions, like you said…it’s all good! And so exciting! Take care, Julie! xyx
Those cupcakes look so cute! As do the shoes 🙂
Oh those cupcakes look sooooooo good.
Dinner looks amazing…and of course I’m jealous of the cupcake sampling!
I really like the shoes, from what I can see of them. Shame that you weren’t able to get your own size so you could wear them more in the future.
Have a safe trip! And have a blast. 🙂
I’m wearing those same shoes as a bridesmaid in a wedding in August!
Love the cupcakes! All look amazing!
My wedding rehearsal shoes were a little big too, I had to get inserts, I got them at Target, they worked like a charm! Have a safe flight! I love Chicago! My favorite city!
Are those Nina Forbes shoes? I’m in a wedding today/Saturday as well and had to get Ninas similar to those. Hoping both of our bridesmaid feet make it through blister-free!
Is that a s’mores cupcake that I spy in the bottom right hand corner? If so, do you want to mail one to me here in Maryland? ; )
A belated congrats to Ryan—and a good luck to both of you on the move!
Excited for the guest posts and wedding review haha 🙂 have fun!!
Have fun in Chicago!! My husband I just got back from there, and we had a blast. I posted about a million pictures of our food on the blog… if you’re bored at the airport, you should check them out. They’ll get you in the mood for some good Chicago eats haha! 😉
And those cupcakes look AMAZING! I’m jealous. 😛
Have you ever been to Sweet in Orlando? (its over in Waterford)
The cupcakes there are BEAST!
Love, love, love those cupcakes. What bakery was it?
Enjoy Chicago. My brother is going there next week for a wedding.

safe travel to y’all this weekend!
Those are the same shoes I wore in my brother’s wedding! Have an amazing time in Chicago 🙂
Okay I totally wore those shoes for a wedding last month!!! What size do you need? – because you know I’m in the Chicago area! They run big to begin with so I’m surprised you’re not falling out of those shoes!!
I hope you have fun in Chicago! Inserts are the bomb when it comes to heels. They never seem to fit my feet just right without them!
Those are the exact same shoes I picked out for my bridesmaids (but in gold)!!
Oh cupcakes. Maybe Ryan should switch jobs EVERY month and then you can keep the cupcakes a comin’!
Have a great time at the wedding…clunky heels and all 😀
Congrats to Ryan!!
Sounds like you had a great time visiting your family!
The heels with the sweats is the PERFECT outfit. You should totally rock that on the fashion page and see what happens 😉
I know this comment is on the wrong post, but i felt i had to say somethin’. I moved from NYC to Virginia a year and a half ago. It was hard cuz i had lived there my whole life and my family had lived in the same house for over 30 years! I guess the move was the best thing ever to happen to me because i met people who are now my best friends and i have an amazing church! Of course you aren’t moving out of state. But one thing- we had TONS of boxes ( especially school stuff since i’m homeschooled)! we made a plan to unpack at least 2 boxes a week so we’d be done by the year’s end. Yeah, right. We have so far unpacked 6 boxes so far! i tell you, by the time we unpack all of that, i’ll be wearing dentures. Congratulations on everything, though- it’s truly a blessing.
