Hello! Today is the first day of fall and I think Charlotte got the memo. As I drove to Pure Barre this morning, it was 58 degrees which may not sound that cold, but it felt quite chilly to this Florida girl!
I had plans to meet up with a new friend at the 6 a.m. class today. Chandra recently moved to the Charlotte-area from San Diego and we’ve been emailing back and forth a bit after she reached out to me through the blog. Chandra actually tried out my Pure Barre studio a couple weeks ago and fell in love with it. We finally got around to making plans to attend the same class and get coffee together afterward this morning.
Another cinnamon dolce cappuccino for me! (They are the best and I love how many of you are quickly becoming as obsessed as I am with this drink! We should start a club.)
While we sipped our hot drinks, we chatted about moving, our new lives in North Carolina, Chandra’s recent wedding and other odd and ends for an hour. Before saying our goodbyes, we made plans for more Pure Barre and coffee dates in the future. I can already tell Chandra is a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to hanging out with her again soon!
Breakfast
Once I made it home, I grabbed the breakfast I prepped last night from the fridge.
I added a little more milk to a bowl of overnight oats and topped them with almonds and a drizzle of honey for some sweetness.
About 30 minutes later, I wanted a little something extra and assembled a small snack plate of three Natural Delights Medjool dates topped with peanut butter and cinnamon.
LOVE this combo!
Hope you guys have a great Tuesday!
P.S. BIG congrats to my dad and Team Navy Jax for completing a 160+ mile bike ride from Jacksonville to Daytona and back on Saturday and Sunday last weekend. I’m so impressed and very proud!
Brynn says
Today I went with an Americano with one pump cinnamon dolce and a splash of milk. So good! I like that it is just slightly sweet, not over the top.
ashley @ KickAshMom.com says
We just added a pump class to our gym along with plyo. I can’t wait to try them both!.
Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki says
Yay for new friends and workout/coffee dates!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
You must be so proud of your dad!
I am sitting her eating an egg burrito for breakfast, but your pic has me craving overnight oats. 🙂
Anele @ Success Along the Weigh says
I’ve got some dates in the kitchen just staring at me. I’m trying your snack suggestion!
Julie says
Hope you love it!!! It’s the perfect combination of salty and sweet! 🙂

Way to go your dad!!

So glad you are experiencing some feelings of Fall! It is my favorite season and here in NC, we can really have some beautiful fall weather. This week looks very “fall-ish” before temps warm up a bit more toward the weekend. It sounds like you guys are loving NC so far and I am happy that you are and able to share some wonderful things about our great state on your blog!!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
I’ve been eating overnight oats a lot these days. They’re just so easy to prepare and so yummy!
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
I am so in love with this new fall weather! And huge congrats to your dad – that’s quite a feat!
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog says
I still need to try your “signature drink” out! I’m traveling to Oregon this weekend and I like to treat myself with Starbucks when I travel, so I’ll give it a try then!
Katie says
Your date + PB mixture reminded me of when I did a Whole30 challenge with my work and I used to eat Sunbutter with dates. Have you ever tried Sunbutter?! It became a new addiction for me!
Katie
Julie says
I haven’t but I should! I’ve heard great things about it!
Kelly Runs for Food says
Alright, I’m slowly becoming convinced to try that cinnamon dolce cappuccino. I’ve been loving the pumpkin spice flavored coffee from world market. It’s chilly up here in VA this morning and I’m loving it!
Table for One: Big Bites on a Little Budget says
I think I am going to have to try this cinnamon dolce cappuccino. I need to get out of my latte rut! Also, I love dates topped with peanut butter. They are also delicious stuffed with almonds!
aladygoeswest says
I’ve never thought to add PB to dates. It’s great you’re making new friends! Enjoy the season change:)
Jennifer Lastinger says
Coffee dates are the best and yay! for Fall temps! I’m in Ga and it feels fantastic today!
Christina M says
Consider me already signed up for the Cinnamon Dolce Cappuccino club! (I already had 3 this past weekend…) Those dates look AWESOME! I’m never sure how to eat them, but now that’s all I want after seeing that amazing picture!
I love having a Pure Barre workout buddy – my friend Kendall goes with me and at least once a week we grab coffee before heading back to office (we also work together!) – last week, we had a S’more’s Latte from a local French bakery – now I have her hooked on them! (Don’t worry – Cinnamon Dolce Cap’s are next!)
Congrats to your Dad!!!!! 🙂 🙂
Julie says
s’mores latte!?!?!?! sign me UP!
Annette Perkins (@FitnessPerks) says
Congrats to your dad, that is so awesome!
Your morning sounds super lovely <3 I love meeting up for food after a workout with a friend, such a nice way to spend a few hours!
Rebecca Jo says
I need to try that date thing!!!
Ashley says
Way to go, Dad! How awesome and inspiring is that?
Julie says
I know!! I am a proud daughter! 🙂
Amanda @ Slimplify Life says
I used Dates and Almond Butter as my fuel for during my last half-marathon. It was quite tasty…despite being a hot mess to deal with while running =).
Emily @ Sweet Summer Smiles says
I love the date and pb combo! It’s always been a favorite snack of mine. Congrats to your dad too, what a great achievement!
Carrie (This Fit Chick) says
I love morning coffee dates! and morning dates 😉 see what I did there? I used to have dates before and after my runs a lot!
Julie says
Haha — love that 🙂
kristin @ W [H] A T C H says
yay for fall and for new friends!
Megan @ The Skinny-Life says
I have to try that cappuccino pronto! That sounds delicious. Hopefully, it’s not too many calories. I’m trying to lose a few pounds.
Jackie says
i’m pretty sure they have the sugar-free version of the cinnamon dolce syrup, since i do the skinny cinnamon dolce lattes once it starts to get cooler! it’s a trade off to do sugar free vs. regular sugar obviously but it would save on the calories 🙂
Linda @ The Fitty says
YUM! Overnight oats tell the tale of a nice, cold fall morning.
Carolina John says
I bet you’re going to love seeing the seasons change now! NC sure does fall right. See if you can get over to Asheville in the next few weeks to catch the leaves. Also might be worth planning a ski trip to Sugar Mountain for after thanksgiving. Both are only about an hour and a half from Charlotte.
Julie says
Both are on our to-do list!! I am SO excited to experience real seasons again!!!!!!!
Alex @ The Zen Kat says
Congrats to your dad! Mmm a cinnamon dolce cappuccino sounds delicious. I think I need to try it and join the club too!
Julie says
Doooo it!! 🙂
Rachel @ Blonde with a Chanse says
I have pinned your overnight oats recipe so many times, and still have not made them! I just need to do it 🙂
Michelle Hunt (@PeachyPalate) says
Yesterday morning was the first morning it felt chilly here (in Ireland) and it was about 53 so we’re doing pretty well!
Emily says
I usually go for vanilla when I want flavor in my latte. Mostly because “cinnamon dolce” is just too many syllables to bust out pre-caffeine! 🙂
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
i keep meaning to buy dates some time but haven’t gotten around to it yet… I really want to try them!
Justin from Extreme Health Radio says
Do you drink regular milk or any kind of special milk like goat milk or almond milk etc? I wish I could drink milk but I can’t seem to do it!
Julie says
I love almond milk, so at home that’s usually what I drink or use in recipes. At Starbucks I just get regular milk though. 🙂
slimsanity says
I honestly can’t remember the last time I ordered a cappuccino! I have a free Starbucks birthday drink to use, maybe I’ll have to give that a shot 🙂
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, & Beers says
Wow – way to go dad!
You seem to be having no trouble meeting fun people here in Charlotte. I hope you’re settling in and loving it. 🙂
Alex @ Get Big, Go To Work says
I’ve never done overnight oats but yours look delicious with the honey and almonds. I’ve been on a chia pudding streak lately, but with the recent fall-like days we have had in Richmond, I think I need to give the oats a try! Definitely screams comfort:)
Bethany Imondi says
So I finally went and ordered the Cinnamon Dolce Cappuccino, and OMG! What took me so long! It’s delicious, and tastes fantastic during these cool weather mornings! I think I found my new morning obsession!
skigirl0891 says
I too love the cinnamon dolce, but a close competitor is the white chocolate mocha!!!
Lauren Sharp says
Hi Julie!
Do you use sugar-free or regular cinnamon dolce syrup? 🙂
ganeeban says
I think it’s so neat how blogs can bloom friendships! I have met some really cool people from blogging and it would be fun to meet them in person eventually! xoxo, ganeeban
Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed says
It was definitely 43 degrees this morning in PA when I left for the gym before 6 am!
angela says
I love dates in oatmeal topped with peanut butter and cinnamon so your snack sounds delicious! Happy first day of fall!
crazyabouthealthy says
Mmm Cappuccinos are my go-to order, and I like the idea of adding flavour! I wonder how Pumpkin spice would taste! I’ll have to investigate this further..
Andrea @ Pencils and Pancakes says
I HAVE to try that combo with the dates…looks so good
Kelli @hungryhobby says
I love dates and pb too!!! It’s like the all time best snack ever, except for banana and pb!
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
I love Medjool dates but I wish I could find pitted ones around me! I hate trying to get the pits out. I make homemade almond butter and slather it all over them. They make a great snack!
Im going to visit some inlaws in Raleigh next month and we already have a trip to the Pure Barre studio set up since the ones around me are all too far away. I cant wait!!
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
Meeting new friends through the blog is one of the best things!
