After work today I swung by Target and spent nearly $70 on a buttload of paper towels, my favorite gummy vitamins, some storage containers and gum (impulse buy).
I’m beginning to think it’s impossible to go to Target without spending at least $50. Target is where my money goes to die.
Dog Park
I arrived home to a hyper dog. Ryan and I knew tonight was the perfect night for a family trip to the dog park.
Sadie was stoked!
As usual, she looked to Ryan to throw her ball after ball…
And then she came to me for cuddles because that’s what I do best.
I tried to be cool and throw the ball…
But Sadie still preferred Ryan’s throws.
They’re quite the dynamic duo.
We spent nearly an hour at the park before our stomachs told us it was time to head home for dinner.
Dinner
Ryan enjoyed a hodgepodge of leftovers, but I wasn’t in the mood for reheated grub and decided to make myself a smoothie bowl instead.
I wanted something sweet!
Into the Vitamix I threw:
- 1 c. frozen strawberries
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 tbsp. cocoa powder
- 1 heaping scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 pinch xanthan gum
- 1 large handful fresh spinach
- l large spoonful peanut butter (1 1/2 – 2 tbsp.?)
While I blended everything up, I also ate a plain whole wheat tortilla because I wanted something doughy.
The smoothie bowl was so, so good! I literally slurped it down while proclaiming, “This is exactly what I’m in the mood for!” I should do smoothies for dinner more often. Now that I think about it, I should also bring back breakfast for dinner…
Sara says
We did breakfast for dinner: french toast and breakfast sausage. So good! Definitely one of my favorite dinners.
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
Your dinner smoothie sounds great. I’m sitting here trying to decide what to make tonight – not feeling what I originally planned. Hmm…
Love the last picture of Ryan & Sadie together – so fun!
Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
I’m sure your throws were just fine! Sadie doesn’t seem like she’d be picky, as long as the balls goes somewhere 🙂
natalie says
LOL @ Ryan’s face. Literally, cracked me up!!
Maybe I could talk hubby into a smoothie and popcorn dinner night… [we’re west coast]
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
it’s always best to go with the craving!
you guys are too cute! wonderful pictures! 🙂
Allison @ Happy Tales says
I agree!!!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
You sure are getting plenty of use out of your Vitamix 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
Love that thing!
gabriella @ embracement says
Cvs is where all my money goes! All of my stuff always runs out together. I love breakfast for dinner: oatmeal, eggs, banana sandwiches all delicious any time of day
Elizabeth says
Did you let your hair dry naturally today too? It looks super cute.
peanutbutterfingers says
I may or may not have skipped washing it at all today… so, yes b/c it was the same as yesterday. 🙂 It was a body-only shower for this girl today.
Liz says
Does your hair smell from the workout? I do body only showers two days per week and I’m always worried my hair looks greasy or smells.
peanutbutterfingers says
use baby powder! seriously the stuff is a miracle worker for greasy hair! also, i will wash my hair if it gets super sweaty (after cardio workouts) but after bodypump it’s not too sweaty, so i don’t think it smells (at least i HOPE not!).
Kimberley says
Breakfasts for supper are the bomb!!
I love how it is perferctly fine to have smoothie for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Clare @ Fitting It All In says
I LOVE plain whole wheat tortillas. I have them when I need just a little carb love too! Often times when I make smoothies for dinner I have either a tortilla or an english muffin with it.
Runeatrepeat says
Totally agree about Target – I cannot get out of there without spending at least 50 bucks!
Caitlin @ The Caitie Experiment says
Ahhh, I am sooo jealous! I decided 20 minutes ago that a smoothie was *exactly* what I wanted for dinner…45 minutes after I ate chickpeas, a pita and hummus. Needless, to say, NOT satisfying! 🙁 oh well, at least I know what’s for breakfast!! …and possibly tomorrow’s dinner!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I love feeding my cravings!! Tonight all I wanted was veggies.. veggies.. and more veggies. I listened.
Joanna says
I agree, it is nearly impossible for me to walk out of Target without spending way more than I planned & I’ve also learned that there’s no such thing as just “running in” Target either. No matter how hard I try to resist, something catches my eye & I end up wandering up and down aisles I originally had no intention of going near.
I am a relatively new follower of your blog, but it’s long overdue that I let you know how much I’ve been enjoying keeping up with your daily posts & even going back to read past ones that I missed before finding you! :O)
Lauren says
I know, Target is ridiculous! I feel the same way about Costco.
When you and Ryan eat different dinners, do you guys still eat together at the same time?
Vivianne says
Target is my safe place… 🙂
I love how happy you look in all of your pictures. I really like reading your blog and seeing how much fun you have with your life 🙂 (oh and Sadie’s smiling face is great too!!)
Melissa says
Smoothies for dinner are the best! Sometimes I really crave one but don’t have it because I feel like I need something more “dinner-y.” Silly!
Kelly @ Dare to be Domestic & Cocktails and Cardio says
I am so glad you said that – I have always felt I could never get out of Target with less than a $50 purchase. I think I achieved this one time – I bought gum, a magazine and I think a water. This only happened because my boyfriend was actually the one making the purchase. Had we not went to the register I might have gotten out of there spending ZERO! That place is a money pit, but I love it so!
Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine says
I had a chocolate smoothie for lunch today and it was deeee-licious. Since I’m not eating sweets, I’ve found that I like more sweet-ish, fruit based meals!
Alison says
Hmmm….I’m usually good for $100 on every Target trip. Following a recent review of my finances, I might need to work on that!
Natalie @ ittleedibles says
Thank heavens for my Vitagummies! I take them every day (and chewable Vitamin C) and haven’t been sick ONCE since then! I don’t take them regularly if they’re not the gummy kind and I have such a sweet tooth I look forward to them! 🙂
Michelle says
Target is where all my money goes as well. I always try to have a list when I shop there, but I always come out with more. Oops!
Laura @ prettylittlewords says
I am so jealous of your vitamix 🙂
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Ohhh goodness I LOVE Target!!!! And our local Target just turned into a Super Target (fresh produce!!!!!!!!) so now it’s even *more* of a time and money sucker!!!
peanutbutterfingers says
Super Target is killllller.
Natalie says
Breakfast for dinner is the absolute BEST!! My husband and I do breakfast for dinner almost every Sunday night. It was a tradition growing up and now I love getting to make him waffles and eggs and try new things!
Alexandrina @ The Cardio Queen says
Definitely agree with you on Target. They have EVERYTHING how could you not leave without spending more than intending?? I did so just yesterday. 🙂
Amanda @ The Artsy Kitchen says
Your dog is gorgeous!!
My puppy does pretty much the same thing, husband throws the ball and she comes to me and we cuddle, and then it starts all over again! 😀
I love making breakfast for dinner! I actually just had a goat cheese omelette for dinner tonight!
P.S. this post makes me want a VitaMix SO bad!!
Chelsea J says
My puppy comes to me for cuddles too. He knows his dad is for walks, #2 time and rough play and mama is for loves. Sometimes a smoothie is the best thing for dinner on warm nights! And I singlehandedly have kept our Target in business.
Emily says
I need a Vitamix! My blender doesn’t even work…this is not an OK situation..
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy Girl" says
Smoothie for dinner – love it! I really need to try your smoothies but I need to get that xanthan gum. I love breakfast for dinner. Today I did dessert for breakfast – banana split oatmeal. It was delish!
Jenny @ loveeatrun says
No doubt about it…Target trips are impossible to keep under 50 dollars!
Kristen says
target is so awesome. But so evil at the same time. haha
Sarah @ The Pajama Chef says
we did breakfast for dinner tonight! a delicious apple/egg/sausage strata 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
That sounds delicious!
Sable @ Squat Like a Lady says
I love the last pic of Ryan and Sadie! What a pair of goofballs.
I have a “protein parfait” for dinner tonight…. 1 scoop protein+1 cup almond milk+xanthan gum and 1/2 cup of granola! SO good.
Arianna @ Laughter & Linguini says
Love the idea of a smoothie in a bowl! And love those pictures.. you guys are so cute!
erica says
my dog always comes to me for cuddles too! it must be a mama’s love 🙂
that picture of you and sadie is adorable
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
Your dinner sounds very similar to mine! I always seem to crave breakfast(y) foods for dinner. Tonight I had a smoothie and a piece of bread, and it was just was I needed.
Alaina says
Ryan is just too cute with that dog. Looks like a great outing.
I am so bad at Target. I try and stay away unless its absolutely neccessary. 🙂
khushboo says
Chia seed pudding success! I made it with soy milk+cocoa powder and left it overnight. Its plumped up so much. Can’t wait to dig in to it as tonite’s dessert!
peanutbutterfingers says
Yay! That’s awesome!
Primrose says
When I use other frozen fruit like strawberries instead of banana in my ‘green monsters’ it always seems to turn out watery and not creamy like yours. Am I doing something wrong??
peanutbutterfingers says
Are you using milk and protein powder? Also, I think xanthan gum helps with the creaminess.
Gen says
Sadie is sooooo cute! 😀
That smoothie bowl looks delish!
Andreea @Our Journey To USA says
I usually don’t do breackfast for dinner, but there are nights when I have odd craves like
Cream Chesse/Yougurt/Nutts/Aplle/Stevia combo !
As for Sadie, it’s normal since girls are more into their dads. If you want to be the favourite “parent”, consider taking another dog, a male.
Imagine that! As if one isn’t enough energy consuming…But it rewards you with plenty of love so it’s a Win Win situation!
Carrie says
breakfast for dinner is my life… hello oats.. !
Sadie has got one big mouth!!!! NICE-! my dog can barely hold a tennis ball
(actually he probably can’t)…
ahaah im the opposite, when im out with my mom she makes me throw the ball because Im the former baseball player… while she cnt throw it for the life of her…
katie says
Target gets me every time too! Love that place, but can never just go in to buy what I need, end up buying more too!
Love the smoothie for dinner, I have done that before too!
Jemma @ Celery and Cupcakes says
Smoothie bowls for dinner are the best. I love them! 😀
Floey says
Ugh, I can’t believe how expensive toilet paper is! I’ve resorted to buying mine at Costco (the generic Kirkland brand) — there’s a buncha rolls for $20 😛
Btw, adorable hair poof!
Alyssa says
breakfast for dinner is the best! mm pancakes – actually i dont think i’ve ever seen you eat pancakes!
absolutely no way to spend less than 50 dollars at target. did you pass by their bathing suit section? they’ve really stepped it up!
Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries says
I agree – it’s absolutely impossible to go to Target without spending money!
Jasmine @patchworksoflife says
Oh I couldn’t agree more with the Target comment. They must pump something into the air supply at the store so that you get the ‘I must buy’ sensation! 🙂 I can go in with a list of 5 things and come out with 20.
Nicole @ Fresh & Fit says
Target is a dangerous place for me. I always buy way more than I intended. Did you check out there bathing suits? They have some really cute one, and there cheep! I just bough about 10 of them!
Your smoothie in a bowl dinner looks delicious! It actually looks like a dessert. I love desserts for dinner!
