I’m just about ready to head to Tampa!
I spent a few hours this morning packing up the rest of the things I will need for the next 11 days. Yup, you heard that right… eleven days.
Check out this crazy travel schedule:
- Drive to Tampa tonight
- Fly from Tampa to New Orleans tomorrow morning
- Fly from New Orleans to Texas to meet up with Ryan on Sunday morning
- Fly from Texas to Hawaii with Ryan on Sunday afternoon
As you can see, I had to pack everything I need for this weekend’s bachelorette party and our trip to Hawaii in one suitcase since I won’t be heading home in between the two trips. As someone who absolutely abhors packing, this task was pretty darn miserable. I wasn’t feeling very creative this morning and ended up packing a ridiculous amount of dresses since thinking about one piece of clothing is a lot easier than packing tops and bottoms. Why do I find packing so awful?
One of the reasons is surely Sadie’s reaction to packing. She gets all stressed out the minute I pull my suitcase out of the closet. Usually this isn’t that big of a deal because she generally comes with us wherever we go, but I couldn’t help but feel sad knowing I’m not going to see her feeble little face for 11 days.
That picture always cracks me up. She was hunting reflections on the ceiling. Sadly, she came up empty handed.
I’m going to miss my needy little lady! At least I know she absolutely loves my sister and will be in the best hands.
Lunch
Lunch was another “use whatever is in the fridge” kind of meal and included chicken salad made with avocado and red pepper and a cup of Greek yogurt.
Nothing I’ve consumed so far today has really hit the spot, so I’m hoping to find something extra delicious for dinner with my dad and sister tonight.
Off to Tampa!

Have a great trip. You will love Hawaii…heaven on earth! I don’t know if you have time but Kauai is my favorite island and I think you would love it…not a “big city” feel like Honolulu although I enjoyed my time there as well.
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
That is a lot of traveling but at least it’s all fun trips you have ahead of yourself! 🙂 I despise packing. It’s the worst. My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon and we both brought entirely too many clothes. Our suitcases were so heavy, I could barely push mine. I need to learn how to pack lighter.
Stephanie says
Have a great time with your girlfriends and Ryan! You will have a blast in both locations! 🙂 you deserve it!
Khushboo says
Once packing is out of the way, the excitement can kick in 🙂
Lindsay says
Texas, Texas, Yeehaw!
Rachel says
aww you’re going to have so much fun!! Is Ryan flying to Texas alone?
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Oh gosh, that’s some serious packing! I had to do something similar a couple weeks ago. I was gone for 10 days: fly from Chicago to Kansas City, drive from Kansas City to Colorado Springs, fly from CO Springs to Boston for HLS, and then fly back to Chicago! Haha it was a mess! At least I had a laundry machine to use in various places so I could pack carry-on!
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
I’m in the middle of packing to move apartments and yea – packing is awful.
I’m sure you’ll have an awesome time in Hawaii!
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
have a great and safe trip! I hope Ryan sleeps through his first flight!
Blakely @ The Husky Life says
My dog hates suitcases too! Have fun on your travels!
Jenica says
Have safe travels! You really can’t go wrong with packing tons of dresses. They’re versatile and they’re an all-in-one outfit.
Chelsie @ Balance, Not Scale says
I hate packing too!! The actual act isn’t all that bad — it’s the folding and always forgetting something in the end that I hate. You’re going to be going on such fabulous adventures!! I can’t help but be jealous! 🙂
Jordan says
Totally random, but i LOVE that chair next to your suitcase. Where is it from?
Wishing you and Ryan safe travels! 🙂
Fatima says
Hope Isaac won’t get in the way of your girls trip! Where in TX will you be? I can tell you some great places to check out : ) Going to DC for the next 5 days and I feel the exact same way about packing
Beks says
I usually save packing for the last minute. I also probably wouldn’t use a suitcase if I didn’t have one (I used to throw my clothes into a king-sized pillow case). I hate leaving my cat for extended periods, too. She had some bad experiences when she stayed with some people I lived with a few years ago, and hates it when I go to work every day. Luckily, she seems to like my mom and tolerate my dad. I hate saying goodbye to her pretty little face, though.
Have a safe trip! Have fun!
Chelsea @ Dine & Dash Diaries says
I hate those “eat ALL the things in the fridge!” moments before vacation. Those sorts of meals never seem to hit the spot. But on the bright side, your kitchen will be cleaned out upon your return from Texas! Enjoy yourself!
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
haaha! Sadie looks like she’s praying for you not to leave…so cute! And your food looks delish! But I know~there are those times when we’re still craving for something different in our tummies. Hope you have a fun time, and stay safe Julie. 🙂
Monica says
Julie — I just gotta say that I’m falling in love with that Sadie. I need to preface this by saying I am sooooo not an animal person and generally sigh and scroll past blogs where people talk about their pets. EXCEPT for your blog. I love it when Sadie is featured. Maybe it’s the way you talk about her. Maybe it’s the cute little balloon sayings. Maybe it’s the pictures. But whatever it is, your readers have really gotten to know this little cutie pie and I just adore her!
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Ahhh that is crazy travel!! GOOD luck! And have a blast 🙂
Stephanie @ LiveCookLove says
Are you flying to Hawaii from Austin by chance? I live in Austin and could give you some good places to check out if you will be here 🙂 Have a blast!!!
Jamie says
That picture of Sadie…I’m dying. Her face is HILARIOUS
Katie says
Have an amazing time, I’ve been to Hawaii twice and it’s is quite possibly my favorite place in the world.
I share your hated for packing, I put it off to the last second and then I usually end up packing 90% of my clothes because I’m afraid of not having options or not having something important, like pants.
Enjoy!!
Anne says
Hahaha that’s what is so great about dresses, everyone says how nice you look when really a dress is the easiest thing because you only have to make one decision haha
Suzanne @ Fit Minded Mom says
Oh goodness, I agree with your misery over packing. I am so not a fan of it and always end up packing too much. I swear it takes me two days to put outfits together and I always have to make sure that most bottoms can be matched with most my tops….exactly why dresses are so easy! Of course, the REALLY hard part is packing shoes. I usually need a separate suitcase for those, lol!!
Hope you have an incredibly wonderful couple of weeks of traveling!!
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
I hate packing too! I hope you have a great time!
Jess @ JessieBear What Will You Wear says
Have fun on vacation, Julie!
Gina says
Have a safe and extremely FUN trip(s)!! Aww you’ll be in Texas for only a few hours. If it’s DFW, you’ll be so close to me!
Samantha says
You are so lucky to have a good dog sitter! That so far is what keeps me from traveling more. It is too stressful if you are worried about the pup. Have a great time.
Alysha @Shesontherun says
I am the worst packet ever. I never pack enough clothes and usually forget all underwear or socks.
Alexa says
have fun in Hawaii! Cant wait to hear about it! I love Hawaii! <3
Carol @ Lucky Zucca says
Aww sweet Sadie! She looks so “woe is me” ! Have fun on your trips!!! Safe travels 🙂
heather says
that pic of you and sadie is hi-lar-ious. her face pretty much sums up what you’ve been saying.
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
I’m the exact opposite, I love love love packing and picking out outfits but hate unpacking. That part is never fun to me. ;p
Abby says
I absolutely hate packing as well…and always end up packing dresses! It makes things much easier than matching tops and bottoms. After all, I never know what I’m going to feel like wearing so I may as well pack all of them!
Julie says
Stay safe and have an awesome trip!
Alicia Lomas says
I’m packing for an 8 day trip to Dallas to hang with my besties. Luckily I still have half the Gone Girl book left to tied me over on the plane this Saturday. Can’t wait to finish it and then post about it.

Hi! I too am headed to a bachelorette weekend too! I was wondering how you handle your weekends with friends when there is drinking and eating (not always the healthy kind)…I have such a hard time not drinking too much when I get excited to see my friends…then I end up feeling crappy the next day and miss my workout and instead want to eat all day! You seem like you have found a good balance..may I ask how you do it?? Also what will you do for exercise while one vacation?
Chelsea @ GlitterAndSweat says
I love how your dog is always poses for a photo lol Your lunch looks bomb to me!!!
allison says
Ick! Packing for two trips in one suitcase is a challange!! Atleast in Hawaii you’ll mostly be in bathing suits lol:)
I actually love packing. I fly home to Jersey on Monday for a funeral so I started making my list of clothes and making up outfits for a week. Dresses are great to bring since a few different accessories can totally change it up!
Michele Sparrow says
Which island are you going to? My hubby and I are headed to Maui on Wednesday! Safe travels!
Ariana says
Something to make you feel better after packing??? Starbucks (at least the one by me in South Suburbs of Chicago) have new scone….Pumpkin.
Need I say more?
Christy says
I’m just curious, how many trips have you been on this year? I wish I could travel as much as you did.
Molly from LifesLemons says
I just realized that you eat 2% yogurt! i just started eating it rather than nonfat.
That is one thing that I learned when I went to Italy, a little (or a lot) of fat never killed anyone. It actually keeps you full longer….duh. mmmm creamy..
Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction says
I am sooo jealous of your travels! Be safe, have fun, take photos (obvi)!
Kelly says
Your so lucky! You deserve an awesome vacation from your job! Have fun Julie!
Sara says
Hey Julie! I havd a rather off topic question to ask, but i’m hoping you’ll answer anyway. I recently signed up to take an intro fitness class that combines aerobics, yoga, and pilates. I’m finding the class really challenging, but I also know that it is a great workout and I want to excel in it. When you start something new, how to you motavate yourself to get over the, “this is so hard/awkward, I can’t do this” phase? Thanks so much for your time!
Ksenija @ Health Ninja says
Hawaii… wow, that will be such an amazing holiday! Enjoy ! And never mind, I am always sad to leave my little kitty somewhere for a few days, but in the end it is just nicer to be reunited. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right 😉 ?
