For some reason I have a great feeling about the week ahead. Maybe it’s because Ryan’s birthday is on Wednesday or because I have a fun trip to Orlando planned for this weekend. Or perhaps it’s because today started out with a heaping helping of peanut butter?
Whatever it is, I’m going to roll with the positive feelings!
Workout
When Ryan and I walked out into the garage to hop in the car to drive to the gym today, I shivered and immediately ran back inside to grab a fleece to wear because it was 48 degrees.
FORTY EIGHT!
Yay for crisp fall mornings!
I think the chilly temperatures invigorated me because I had a pretty stellar workout.
After 20 minutes on the elliptical, I did the following leg workout:
- 100 squats (non-stop at 80 pounds!)
Three sets of 15 repetitions of the following:
- Step ups
- One-legged leg press
- Deadlifts
- Front squats with exercise ball
- Ab work on exercise ball
Breakfast
Talk about a delicious breakfast!
I prepared a bowl of old fashioned oats cooked with milk and topped with peanut butter and mini chocolate chips.
I love the peanut butter and oatmeal combination. It’s so creamy and satisfying.
Sadie was not happy I decided to add in a sprinkling of chocolate chips because that meant she couldn’t lick the bowl clean. Unhappy dog.
Isn’t her little pumpkin shirt adorable? My mom and I almost bought her a lion costume for Halloween this weekend but they didn’t have it in her size. I think it’s a riot that Sadie likes dressing up! She loves to be cuddled under the sheets and I think that when we put her in doggie clothes she thinks she’s being wrapped up and cuddled.
Though she looks cute in her pumpkin shirt, nothing will top last year’s costume. What a little ham.
Book Club
I’ll be back soon with the very first PBF book club post! For those of you who participated by reading Room (thank you!), I’ll have a post up shortly dedicated to my review of the book and several questions for all of us to discuss in the comments section. Should be fun!
Yay! I love that its getting a little cooler now 🙂 Your breakfast looks soo good! I love that combo to!
Aw, Sadie is so cute in her pumpkin shirt! 😀
Wow 100 nonstop squats with 80 lbs??? I bow down to you! That breakfast looks so yum- Reeses meets oatmeal! I hope your positivity continues all day – have a great Monday!
I have to try these 100 squats. I shall weight until I have a bit more meat on my bones before I enter the weight zone but body weight ones will be a good place to start! 🙂
Those oats look amazing! And if you like crisp mornings…come to Ireland, we have the them 90% of the year!
That looks like such a delicious breakfast for a chilly morning. It’s getting cooooold here too and I’m not a fan! That’s exciting that you’ve got a trip to Orlando planned though – hopefully it’s a bit warmer when you go! I’ve got a good feeling about this week too… yay for positivity!
I am ready for some cooler weather. I hate extremes…why can’t it be like 70 degrees year round…why?
yes! i agree with you. if you find a place like that, let me know and i’ll come be your neighbor.
portland!
I had to crack out my coat this morning. Fall is here.
Sure is sounding like a great week to me!:) stay warm!
Pb, chocolate chips and oats are awesome together!!!! 😀
Sadie is seriously adorable!
48 degrees?! In Florida? Yikes.
It was 40 degrees here (in Ontario) the other day and I had to break out the winter coat!
Those oats look amazing! What a way to start the week off — with PB & chocolate! Yum =)
i know! we were shocked. it is going to warm up a bit later this week, but i’m hoping we’re done with the extreme heat.
YAY for cold weather!!!!!!
That’s funny because it was 88 degrees in London yesterday. Clearly we are having our summer in October this year – woo hoo!
STOP. STOP.
u cannot show me pictures of peanut butter and chocolate… melted… on top of oats- ho mah lordy! this craving will never go away!
Yeha! I love chilly mornings! Haha love Sadie’s pumpkin top 🙂
Oh your breakfast does look SUPER good.
I love Fall crisp mornings too. SO wonderful. ANd NICE work on the 100 squats with 80 pounds. That is fab!
I am in Orlando and DEFINITELY love this cooler weather! We don’t get it often, so when we do, it makes you appreciate it! When I used to be up in Virginia, I used to say this was “football” weather…I just wish the days would stay a little cooler!
It’s freezing in PA too!
I love putting mini chocolate chips in my oatmeal! 🙂
I am loving the cooler weather!!!
It is freezing here! I will be bundling up for the gym too!
Sadie loks SO cute! Love her pumpkin shirt!
xoxo
I wish that crisp air would make it’s way down here to Ft. Laudy!! I can’t wait to enjoy dinners outside on the patio, that’s my favorite part of the fall/winter time in FL!
My brother’s Birthday is Wednesday 🙂 Looks like him and Ryan will both be celebrating!
I think it’s SO important to start the week out on a positive note. And with lots of pumpkin and Sadie 😉
I love the cool days as long as they are not dark and gloomy like they have been here recently! I’m a sweaters kinda gal so I am pretty happy right now 🙂 I hate being too hot! Sadie looks adorable in her costume:) The bride one is pretty funny too though!
I bought Pancake a “hotdog” costume last year, but he managed to eat it off of him……… literally he used his golden retriever chomps and tore that thing off like nobdoy’s business… he’d rather be naked 🙂
I didn’t even know it got down to 48 in Fla. You must have felt like a Palin.
I guess Ryan and I share the same birthday! Will he be as old as I’m going to be, 26? 🙂
he’ll be 28!
I love her pumpkin shirt! It’s too funny that you mentioned a lion because David and I always say we think Koda would make an awesome lion with her coloring- we just need a big furry mane! 🙂
I agree peanut butter and oatmeal is one of the best combinations. Always a great start to a morning! I hope you have a fabulous monday!
I’m looking forward to your Room review — I finished the book last week!
Oh yes, oats, PB, and chocolate chips is one of the best combos. 🙂
I love Sadie’s little pumpkin outfit – too cute!
I LOVE Sadie’s pumpkin shirt- she looks adorable (as usual 🙂 Last year we dressed up our hound Lulu as a pig- it was hysterical, but she didn’t love it. The other day; however, my husband was walking her around the neighborhood and one of the kids who lives down the street said to him she was looking forward to Lulu’s costume this year…. Guess she’ll have to take one for the team again this year haha!
Aww Sadie would be SO cute as a lion. Unfortunately pet costume makers seem to think ‘large’ is like 25 pounds (my mom has a golden-doodle and we can never find her anything).
Don’t you just love waking up in a good mood? I love slightly chilly fall days as well.
Ok funny story – I had a dream this past weekend that you and I were shopping together. We went to some thrift stores, and you were trying to convince me to buy a gray purse. I didn’t like it because it had a gold zipper. I end up buying a wooden crocodile knick-knack instead. I guess I shouldn’t read blogs before bed. 😀
hahaha love it.
100 squats at 80lbs is super impressive! I’ve done 20 at 80lbs and was a shaking and out of breath by the end.
Wow I am so impressed by your workout! I have an odd question though… when you have the bar with the extra weight on it, how do you get it onto your shoulders? Like it’s hard for me to get it over my head! I am not up to 80 pounds but I could do a bit less, but still…getting into position is really hard. I am sorry if this is a super weird question haha
i use one of those squat racks! http://www.buildingbestbody.net/tag/homemade-squat-racks/
Thank you for the link Julie! Yay for not struggling with this so so much haha
Looks like we are having an “in sync” morning today! I did my workout, got a fleece out (it’s freezing here too), and am doing oats and PB!! So yummy! Can’t wait for the Room review…I wasn’t able to finish the book, it was too sad for me!
Sadie is adorable in her t-shirt. I can’t believe it’s almost a year since you’ve been married. Time flies 🙂
I think it is a necessity to add chocolate to every breakfast:)
It’s really chilly here in PA too! I’ve been wearing my uggs for the second day in a row. My feet are happy! 🙂
I can’t wait to discuss Room. I loved it!
me neither! the post wil be up soon!
100 at 80 lbs! HOLY COW! I hope you can walk tomorrow! Yikes! ….That being said, YOU GO GIRL!!!! 🙂
–Love mini chocolate chips! <3
I love the cooler weather that came in this past weekend! Hopefully it’s here to stay!
that breakfast looks amazing! oatmeal is perfect for a chilly morning!
Did 4.5 miles on the elliptical this morning. Was supposed to run but knee felt sore. Oh well. Cold here as well. Anything with PB is better!
The Kidless Kronicles
Oh my gosh, I want to jump into that bowl of oatmeal! It looks SO October-y and warm.. It was chilly here too this morning in D.C.- def fleece weather.
My dog loves dressing up! She whines at her “clothing trunk” until I open it so she can fetch something to wear.
I did your 100 squats thing finally….woman you are a BEAST doing those at 80 pounds. WOW!
Love you!
they’re killer. my legs were all wobbly afterward!
Your post made me happy! Today started out kinda crappy, but now I feel better. The cooler weather, your oatmeal and Sadie’s shirt made me smile:) By the way, you go girl with 80 lbs for 100 squats! Dang.
I love Sadie’s little outfit 🙂 My dog is going to be a hot dog again for halloween.. it was such a hit last year! I am also loving the crisp weather 🙂 makes me so happy.
I absolutely love chilly mornings, they are perfect for runs 🙂 Its getting chillier here too, yay!
i have no idea what to dress my dog up in for halloween, i also cant decide if he loves dressing up or is just confused by the whole thing 😉 Sadie looks sooo cute!
That oatmeal looks absolutely delicious! I looooove peanut butter in my oats.
And holy leg work out! Are you finding better results from separating body groups for each work out?
i feel like i am definitely getting STRONGER from my new workout, but as far as appearance, i feel like i look the same… maybe a little more muscular?
Nice work with the squats! That’s tough!
Love Sadie’s T-shirt. How can you not laugh every time you see her? So cute!
Can’t wait to discuss Room. Such a good book.
