Good afternoon! I hope your Wednesday is trucking along without a hitch.
Like yesterday, the weather in Ocala today is dreary. Sadie is depressed but I am thriving.
Rainy weather does wonders for my productivity. I drinks lots of coffee and get in the zone.
Workout
Today’s workout started nice and early as usual. Ryan and I drove to the gym a little after 5 a.m. and I tackled another total body workout from Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp.
Like Monday’s workout, Tina broke up the strength training exercises with 90 seconds of “active recovery” that included core exercises and killer heart rate-rising moves like mountain climbers. (I scaled the mountain climbers back to 60 seconds. They kill me!)
When we arrived home it was time for breakfast.
Breakfast
I ate a filling bowl of scrambled eggs while working on my morning blog post.
In the bowl:
- 3 eggs
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Avocado
- Onion
- Broccoli
Avocado, I adore you.
Lunch
Lunchtime snuck up on me today.
All of the sudden it was noon and I was hungry and impatient. Those two feelings seem to coincide rather frequently, don’t you think?
I fixed myself a quick lunch plate that included salmon salad and leftover roasted Brussels sprouts.
To make the salmon salad, I combined:
- 3 – 4 ounces salmon
- 1/2 orange pepper, sliced
- Raw sweet corn cut off the cob
- 1/2 cucumber, sliced
- 2 tablespoons light mayo
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons sweet relish
- Sprinkle of dill
When the folks at Laughing Cow went me some of their cream cheese spreads to sample last week, they came with a few packages of Thomas’ Bagel Thins and I rounded out today’s lunch with a toasted whole wheat Bagel Thin topped with honey and Laughing Cow cream cheese.
And that catches us up!
While I love the cozy feeling of a rainy day, I’m hoping the thunderstorms disperse within a few hours so we can take Sadie on an evening walk, otherwise she’ll surely morph into the most annoying creature on the planet by 7 p.m.
It’s already happening…
Cat @ Breakfast to Bed says
does the bottom of Sadie’s ears ever pick up anything gross? It seems like they would.
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
yes. and she gets a “crusty chin.” she’s a little gem.
Zoe at A Single Magic says
My doggie used to get “crusty chin” too! It was cute in theory, but actually kind of gross haha
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
You’re rocking the veggie servings today! I’m way behind.
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Mmmmmm honey + cream cheese is such an amazing combo.
Hah. Love Sadie’s face in that last photo!
Heather @ Run Eat Play says
Honey and cream cheese sounds like a good combo – I’ll have to try it! My son would love it – he puts honey on anything!
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
i LOVE adding coconut, too! 🙂 not sure if you’re a fan, but if you are, i highly recommend it.
Rachel says
aww Sadie! lol my cats hate the stormy weather
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says

I just can’t get enough of your blog! I came across it about a week ago and I have tuned in multile times daily since.
Thanks for being awesome!
Bridget @ Type A Frame Personality says
I seriously haven’t stopped laughing about the picture of Sadie last week that said “I don’t think your ready for this Jelly”. Can’t stop saying it. Todays picture/caption is great too. My dog does that everytime it rains.
Rachael says
I am glad I am not the only one who only did 60 seconds of the mountain climbers! They are always so tough even though they seem like they shouldn’t be.
Liz @ Southern Charm says
Oh yum! That salmon salad looks delish!
Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed says
My pup gets the shakes when it thunderstorms 🙁
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
have you heard of thundershirts? sadie gets all shaky and nervous on car trips when we go over bridges (she’s crazy) and the thundershirt REALLY works for her!
Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed says
Someone mentioned that to us recently, think we need to make the purchase!
LisaG says
Thundershirts do work; recently bought one for our rat terrier. She gets excited when we put it on & races around the house. Usually during storms she would pace around nervously & lick constantly. Amazing.
pluvk says
You always have the most delicious looking meals, but so simple! I feel like they’re something I could make! 🙂
My little guy is the same way when it comes to thunderstorms. He is NOT HAPPY. Once, he jumped on the bed when I was fast asleep, and I screamed so loud that my hubs thought I was being attacked! Fun times. LOL
Christen says
OMG that salmon looks amazing… im drooling 😀
Katie @ running4cupcakes says
i love getting lots of work done when it is thunderstorming outside. . . or being super lazy on the couch. . . it can really go either way! lol.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles says
Never would have thought to put corn in a salmon salad – sounds awesome!
Emily says
You need to try Pinterest’s Creamy Avocado Pasta!! SOOOO good and perfect for avocado lovers!
Jen says
Hey Julie! Love your blog. Sorry if you’ve already answered this a million times, but do you eat anything before your 5am workouts?
DONNA says
What kind of dog is Sadie? I have a dog that looks like her and her name is also, Sadie. I love to read all of your posts and it makes me laugh when you put text on her pictures.
Emily says
I <3 Sadie's ears lol she is so stinkin' cute!
Erica says
Aww the puppy looks so sad!
Jenica says
Personally, hungry and impatient isn’t the big problem for me; it’s the hungry and ANNOYED.
Robyn says
What a cute pup! And all that food looks delicious …especially those sprouts! YUM!
Sarah B. says
That salmon salad looks delicious! I tend to have this habit of combining all the produce I have on hand — sweet potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, and the like – throw it into a bowl and mix with honey dijon or hummus and call it a meal!
My co-workers refer to it as “orange mush” haha. But, it tastes so good!!
Nathalie says
Hey! I just started reading your blog and have already made almost every smoothie (Laughing cow cheese in a smoothie? So daring!) I have seen that you make a lot with salmon. Is that salmon from a can or do you buy frozen/fresh salmon? Have you ever tried your recipes with tuna instead?
Chelsea @ GlitterAndSweat says
Your dog cracks me up lol, That bagel thin looks good!!! Lucky!! I wish it was raining over here in Cali, Oh well, It will be one day!!
Anne Marie says
Your Sadie captions are so stinking hilarious, they make me want to get a dog so badly…so I can virtually torture it via the interwebs! 🙂
squirrel circus says
That salmon salad looks scrumptious!! I definitely head for salty snacks when I get the drunk munchies — like super salty cashews, Doritos, anything salty, really!!
Megan says
Had roasted brussel sprouts for dinner last night, too. I mixed them in some baked ziti. Haven’t been able to get enough of those little green gems lately. Lucky, Publix has had them on sale 😀
Ellie says
So many yummy eats! Looks like ur def. Getting a load of omega 3s 🙂 I always make sure to get them one way or another
Kate says
Oh, Julie, Julie, Julie. The caption for Sadie on her first picture in this post had me laughing so hard and wincing in pain of soreness due to the latest ab workout… You are hilarious. And so is Sadie. I SWEAR she IS thinking what you put next to her pictures…
Angela@ Angela's Whole30 says
MY dog is the same way when it rains! she gets so depressed lol
Natalie says
My dog always wants to go out when it’s raining, but he wants back in as soon as we go out. Then the cycle starts again! They’re so crazy sometimes!
Chelsie @ Balance, Not Scale says
It’s funny that you’re more productive when it’s dreary – I’m definitely less productive!! I find myself wasting way too much time watching the rain or the clouds go by …
Kelly says
I adore Sadie’s facial expressions. She is so cute! The pic of her in bed and her face says it all. I’d love a Vizsla one day! 🙂
Lauren says
My dog does the same thing when the weather is bad. He really is only happy in the sun, much like his owner. 🙂
Sydney says
Love posts with that sweet girl! The pictures you snap of her are always hilarious!
Jun says
You seem to be leaning towards savory breakfasts lately!
Jess says
I am always impatient before I eat!! Esp dinner since I am usually hungry!
Tia says
My dogs were the same way yesterday, normally I don’t walk them if it’s super rainy but I’ve been in such a good groove with walking them, haven’t missed a day in what seems like months, that I just tossed on my rain jacket and headed out, they were pretty surprised lol! Needless to say though, it was raining much harder than I thought and I was soaked like 10 minutes in, they didn’t mind though so we powered through a 50 minute walk, it was actually super refreshing even if I was soaked haha!
Heather says
haha hope you were able to take sadie on a walk. she looks ready!
Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud! says
oh sadie!! she does look awfully depressed! haha
Caroline @ FabFitFoodFun says
I showed the first picture of Sadie to all my coworkers! I work at an animal shelter, so this is the look we get from all the dogs on rainy days when they can’t go outside as often.
