Today began with a 6:30 a.m. walk around the neighborhood with Sadie.
Or, judging by the above picture, a 6:30 a.m. strut. Sadie is such a little ham.
Sleepy smiles.
I have to ask my fellow dog owners out there… Does this ever happen to your dog?
It happens to Sadie all the time.
She shakes her wiggly little body and her frothy drool flicks up over her muzzle. Ryan and I say that she looks like she has rabies whenever this happens. Rabid dog!
Get that drool off!
Breakfast
I don’t usually wake up starving, but after a 30-minute walk, I was more than ready for breakfast.
I made a batch of scrambled eggs with three eggs, shredded cheese, turkey bacon and onion and served it alongside a toasted whole wheat English muffin.
Savory breakfast heaven!

Lol! The first dog my family had was a collie St. Bernard cross, and she was the size height-wise of a St Bernard, but had more of a collie like face. Thank goodness, because if it was the other way around, I think we would have had a LOT of drool to deal with!
Kaitlyn @ Chocolate Running Shoes says
Awwww!!! These posts make me miss my dog so much! Sadie is so adorable/hilarious!!!
Gabby @ Gabby's Gluten-Free says
Ha! My dog has the same issue when we are running or she is in a hot squirrel pursuit.
Michelle@PeachyPalate says
No my dog does get black crusty bits in her eyes though. She’s a westie! No gym this morning? As always..love the links!
Jil says
Hey girl! Just came across your blog. Love it! Where do you get your cute headbands from? Love them!
peanutbutterfingers says
thanks jil! i get them from bicbands.com or the one in this post is from sweatybands.com.
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
I’ve never seen that happen before – granted, I have a toy poodle, but that’s so strange! I almost never want a savory breakfast anymore – I need my sweets in the morning! I may or may not have had a little of my homemade cake batter frozen yogurt this morning…for breakfast. It’s so hot in the Northeast today I needed it!
Jenna says
We have two boxers (one wet mouth and one not) needless to say this happens on a daily basis!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
Aw poor Sadie! I’ve never seen that happen to a dog before!
Breakfast looks yummy! I need to get on board with those breakfast scrambles. They look delicious 🙂
Katie @ Katie Moves says
Awww Sadie! I’ve never seen that happen to my Dogs- that’s so funny! Must be more humid down there in FL obviously … Maybe that’s why!
Haley says
Yes, I have a Viszla-lab mix and this is a common occurrence! Haha! (:
Laurin says
Love your headband! What brand is it?
peanutbutterfingers says
thanks! it’s made by sweaty bands.
Morgan says
My dogs (Jack Russells) luckily don’t drool, but when I met my husband, he had a St. Bernard and she was ALL DROOL. He had stratigically placed hand towels all over the house (under the couch, on the bedside table) to constantly wipe her off. You can’t help to laugh (as i kinda gagged), its cute in a dog lover kind of way. Oh, and thanks for updating the blog!!! i am now less productive at work because I am checking everything out!!!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Probably happens to my grandma’s boxer – she’s super drooly – but my Jack Russel isn’t! 🙂 Love your tank!
Jennifer @ Healthy Wifestyles says
I love your headband!!
My dog tends to get a little drooly from time to time and it grosses me out haha! We ran 4 miles together this weekend and she was foaming at the mouth between her own drool and the water she was gulping. At least it always makes for an interesting time 🙂
Mrs Type A says
haha love that first picture of sadie strutting! they have such personalities, don’t they!?
Samantha says
New blog reader here 🙂 We recently started using a gentle leader for my dog and he gets sooo much foamy drool over and around muzzle that we also joke that he has rabies. So gross! haha
peanutbutterfingers says
welcome!! and we LOVE our gentle leader. aren’t they the BEST!?
Kelly says
Bella is still a puppy so walking on a leash is still a chore. We’re getting there and she has come a long way but if she sees another dog (or a squirrel) is like charge full speed ahead. Considering she weighs 60 pounds it usually includes pulling me along for the ride.
Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud! says
yes unfortunately it happens to kona. she typically only drools when there is food around though, but a good example is outside at a BBQ she is drooling and running around it gets pretty gross 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Haha I’ve never seen a dog do that!
Marie says
I haven’t seen that before but didn’t grow up around dogs like my husband. Our Shih Tzu doesn’t drool. 🙂 Even with your hair up and no make-up, you look so cute! Ryan is right, there is no difference between make-up or no make-up on you! And I’m guessing that you don’t have make-up on this early before a walk. Ha! LOVED that first link! I was tearing up through it; I love stuff like that! Have a great day, Julie!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
haha we have “drooly” dogs quite often too… too funny! i LOVE your headband, by the way!
Taylor @TIUTaylor says
I had eggs this morning too! I always feel less hungry/snacky throughout the day when i start with a savory breakfast like that! I have a little shitzu so I’ve never dealt with the drooling thing… their little faces are so flat! Thanks for the link to the circuit workout, I’m always looking for new ones 🙂
Amanda says
LOL! I about snorted my coffee when I read this post this morning! You see, we have a Great Dane and are all too familiar with the drooling situation! We learned from some of our friends who own 2 mastiffs that the best way to handle the drool is to train them to get their face/mouth wiped off with a hand towel. We keep a towel in every room so that we are not splatter-painted with drool! It’s gross but we love him and it comes with the territory!
Faith @ For the Health of It says
Hahah, Haley does that all the time. She’s always getting it on the other dogs she plays with too. SO gross!
Lindsay A says
I loveee that headband!! Is it a Bic Band? I need to get one!
Jen says
It might be a Sweaty Band. I have the same one, but in black and white. They are online, but I see them at running stores and race expos too. They are awesome!
peanutbutterfingers says
very close! it’s a sweaty band.
Lindsey says
My lab does that all the time. He drools so much! I enjoy the long strands that just hang there and nearly touch his chest while he’s begging. I don’t know how he doesn’t feel that! I end up taking a paper towel and cleaning his face like a child.
Meghan @ After the Ivy League says
Those 21 pictures to restore your faith in humanity literally brought tears to my eyes! Such a great link, thanks for sharing!
Abbey says
LOVE your headband, is it a Bic Band?
peanutbutterfingers says
similar! it’s a sweaty band. 🙂
Emily says
Those pictures made me all misty- eyed! Thanks for sharing the website 🙂
Laurie @ Love, Laugh, Laurie says
I saw those pictures yesterday and they really did restore my faith in humanity!
Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health says
Oh my gosh that is too funny!! Sadie still looks adorable with drool all over her face :). My dog is only like 11 pounds so the drooling isn’t as intense, but whenever she drinks water she basically shoves her entire face into the bowl and her hair gets soaking wet- then she shakes and it gets everywhere haha
Jessica, the_toned_teach says
I just love your posts about Sadie! I have 2 dachshunds, so drool isn’t a factor 😉
Mae says
The 21 pictures made my cry too – GREAT – crying at work. Just kidding (but seriously), those pictures are amazing.
Audrey Adams says
My lab, Ben, would do that everyday no matter what! Drool all over the face!
Christina says
I saw the 21 pictures last night on Facebook I cried! I love your Sadie posts. I keep saying that but I sincerely love them. It reminds me of my dog spencer. Whenever I go running on the lakefront path I see a ton of vizla’s. I always ask to pet them and play with them and they are so full of energy :).
Luci says
LOL! Yes! Our Great Dane, Chester, would always get slobber “hangers” from his huge jowls! We had to keep a towel nearby to wipe his face, especially after eating or drinking. He was quite successful at flinging them around if we didn’t get to him quickly enough or didn’t do a good job wiping his face! Gross!
peanutbutterfingers says
i LOVE great danes!!! my parents used to have one named missy. 🙂
Kim says
One of our dogs gets this ALL the time!! She manages to get it ALL over her body though. And the other dog’s body!
Vanessa says
That would happen to my rottweiler all the time!
I usually don’t wake up hungry either, but today I was starving!
Meagan Robertson says
YES! My lab, Fleur, does that all the time. Matt and I have to battle over who is going to be the one to wipe it off lol
Cass says
do you use real eggs or egg beaters?
peanutbutterfingers says
real eggs
Alysha @Shesontherun says
How crazy! I’m wearing the EXACT Same Sweaty Band in my giveaway post today 🙂 Love it!
Sara @ The Foodie Diaries says
I teared up after looking at all those photos! They definitely restored my faith in humanity. Today’s going to be a good day! 🙂
Nikki says
Love the humanity link. Perfect for my “declared downtime at work” 😉
LeeAnn says
Hahahhaa. That happens to Jasper all the time too!!
Yellow Haired Girl says
Loved the humanity photos. I looked at them on my phone while blowdrying my hair this morning. Definitely teared up .. but that’s always welcome when they’re happy tears 🙂
Amanda says
Sadie is too cute! And fyi – cried like 7 times reading the first link this morning. Such an awesome thing 🙂
Jennifer says
We have had labs for 20 years and not one drooler. Just adopted two beagle/basset hound mix puppies and they drool all the time, we have towels all over the house for wiping little mouths.
Casey says
Every. Single. Day. And I never have anything with me to wipe it off with!
Michelle @ Blogitness says
I love taking my dog for a walk. I normally end up carrying her while I walk though. A 5lb dog doesn’t make it very far!
Where did you get your headband? Very cute!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake says
Growing up, we always had a boxer & they happen to be a very drool-heavy breed, so I’ve definitely seen the drool all over the face look. Now, I have a pug & thankfully he doesn’t drool!
