I consider myself a mild mannered person. I’m not particularly confrontational. It takes a lot to truly make me angry.
Today, however, I felt rage. I wanted to hurt something. Particularly my computer. And my blog’s server.
Two things and then I’ll be done complaining, I promise:
- Why do computers nowadays seem to have a one-year lifespan? I have taken good care of my laptop. I use it to blog, check emails, research things on the internet and that’s it. I’ve never downloaded anything shady or installed any odd programs. I’ve been a kind and gentle owner.
- Transferring a blog to a new server is stressful. I feel awful about the lag-time on my blog and sincerely apologize for the slow loading of the site and timing out of pages and comments. I am hoping this transfer eliminates all of these issues.
And now that the two big issues that took over my afternoon have been adequately addressed (I spent nearly 90 minutes on the phone with Dell “support!”), let’s move on!
Dinner
I was feeling a little drained after computer problems took over my life this afternoon and knew I wanted something easy and comforting for dinner.
Over the weekend I nabbed a Boboli pizza crust from the grocery store and decided to use it to create a unique pizza for dinner.
I brushed the crust with olive oil before topping it with chopped spinach, artichoke hearts, mozzarella cheese, chopped roasted asparagus, green onions and… eggs!
I received a coupon for a free carton of Eggland’s Best eggs through the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program and wanted to use them in a creative way (not that my usual favorite dippy eggs aren’t delicious) and figured using the eggs as a pizza topping would be a neat addition to the pie!
In a recent issue of either Shape or SELF magazine (I can’t remember which one – Ah!) I saw a recipe for a pizza topped with eggs and thought it seemed like such a neat idea. I clipped the article and used it as a guideline for how to make my version of the eggy pizza. I simply cracked the eggs overtop all of the toppings and slid the pizza into the oven and let it bake for eight minutes.
It worked like a charm!
The pieces of pizza with the runny yolks were the best.
My brain is already working on a recipe for a breakfast pizza topped with hash browns, Canadian bacon, sautéed onions and dippy eggs. Yum!
Time to relax with my little family. Hoping to hop into bed early tonight!
fittingbackin says
I love breakfast pizza but yours looks amazing! I’ve never tried the runny egg thing (mine are usually scrambled first then added) – I must try this. Yours looks even better than the magazine pic!
I’m sorry about the computer problems – hopefully it will be resolved soon without too many more headaches – boo!
Liz (Little Bitty Bakes) says
I hear you on computers – they obviously make them cheaper these days.
Pizza looks delicious – and I’m not even a runny egg person!
Bess @ Bess Be Fit says
when I saw this title of this post I immediately thought of that pizza recipe! I saw it in the magazine and have wanted to try it but haven’t yet…now that I see it works so well and looks delicious I must do it asap!
Kathleen says
Sorry to hear about your computer issues…always frustrating!!! Have you thought about buying a Mac (when the time comes to get a new computer)? My boyfriend bought a MacBook Pro Laptop about 3-4 years ago, we use it ALL the time and it still works like it was brand new! I love Macs and I don’t think I’d ever go back. Also – your egg pizza reminds me of pizzas I’d see in Rome (when I visited in ’03) that had one egg on top!! Def tasty!
peanutbutterfingers says
i really would consider a mac, but i am in LOVE with windows live writer for blogging, which works on PCs. i know you can get software to make it compatible with macs, but i haven’t really heard much about how well it works. :/
Sarah says
You should really look into getting a MAC it will change your life and you will never go back!
Alicia says
holy yum. that looks amazing!! yum! I hope tomorrow is a better day for you- customer service blows!
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
I love love loveeee Boboli!! We used to buy that brand sooo much when I was a kid. I’d love to try that pizza with scrambled eggs on top 🙂
Katie says
Your idea for breakfast pizza sounds delish! Sorry to hear about your computer problems – such a headache!! =p
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Doesn’t tech support with Dell just completely suck the life out of you!? I know that feeling. It’s times like those you want a punching bag nearby.
Pizza looks delicious. I’ve done the egg topping before and loved it too 🙂
Melissa says
Dear God, that pizza looks incredible! I have also seen salads with runny eggs on top. I really want to try one!
Megan says
WOW. I am obsessed with runny yolked eggs like whoa and who doesn’t like pizza?! I need to try this! Awesome combo 🙂
Julia says
Yummm this looks amazing. I want to copy this soon!

I saw that recipe, too, and I’m dying to try it! YUM!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I’ve never done the eggs on pizza thing before, but I know Megan from Meals and Miles does it!
Niki (Life's a Payne) says
I have had pizza with BOILED eggs on it before, but I like the idea of the runny yoke! Can’t wait to try it!
lindsay says
Computer problems are so frustrating! I got my Dell in July of 2008 and it’s a Dell and the problems I’ve had were a battery replacement and 2 viruses (which were quickly fixed by tech-savvy friends). I have other friends who’ve had Dell’s for less than 2 years and hate them already, so I guess it’s just luck! Hope whatever you decide to do works out!
PS That pizza looks delicious 🙂
lindsay says
wow, i really need to proofread. I meant to say I’ve /only/ had those problems and they were very minor!
Lisa says
You should definitely look into getting a mac! I had dell computers forever but have had my macbook for 3 years now and LOVE it! I just finished law school and we had to have Windows to take our tests, so I have both Windows and the operating system that the mac runs on (OS X? Not sure if that is what its called – I leave the tech stuff to the techy people). Anyhow, it’s pretty simple to switch back and forth, though your documents don’t automatically transfer across. But, if you install windows you get the best of both worlds – Mac computer and the live writer 🙂
Alisha says
I saw that pizza recipe as well, I think it was in Shape, I’m glad to hear of someone making it and liking it! I’m always interested to try that stuff out. They had a Mexican pizza in there too that I want to try bad, maybe you will get to it before me. lol 🙂
Mai says
I am sorry that you’ve had computer problems. I have to say though… I’ve had my Mac for 3.5 years now and it is still going strong. I know, I know, you can’t run window’s live writer on it…. but I think if enough bloggers can start bugging apple for a good blogging platform it might just happen.
Pizza looks delicious!
Holly @ pink runner says
I love my MacBook and it has been going strong for years. Did you cook the pizza a little before you cracked the eggs on top? Ive done scrambled eggs and pizza but that looks so good!!
peanutbutterfingers says
nope! i cracked the eggs on top BEFORE baking!
Sarah says
Oh my goodness those eggs look like heaven!! I’m so tempted to make that for breakfast…
jen @ taste life says
I love the idea of eggs on a pizza, but I do not like drippy yolks…I wonder if I could just cook them a bit longer or something?
Rachel @ The Perseverance Diaries says
I was at a pizza restaurant that had egg pizza on the menu, looks super tasty!
Lindsey @ Happy or Hungry says
Julie, you should get a Mac! You will never have a problem again :). They are the best ever.
Very interesting, and yummy-looking recipe. I would never think to put eggs on pizza!
Amanda (Eating Up) says
I’ve been meaning to try egg pizza for months!
Shari @ Chicago Cuisine Critique says
This pizza looks delicious!
Valerie @ Spice In Our Life says
Yummy! I have seen a similar pizza recipe and have been wanting to make it. I don’t think I would be able to get the hubbs to go for it though. Bummer. Looks good.
Bee Goes Bananas says
Wow that pizza looks incredible! It seems weird, but egg pizza is so popular that I just have to try it!
Nicole @sugarcoatedsisters says
WOWWWWW that looks delicious! Something about the flavor of runny egg is so good! I love putting egg in my oatmeal to mix things up a bit… Savory oatmeal is surprisingly cool tasting, even though sweet oatmeal is the best 😉
Anne says
eek 90 minutes?! i would’ve gone insane.
and ohhhhh my lanta the egg idea is GENUIS. the crust would be a perrrrfect dipper for the runny yolk. that’s it, i’m having this for lunch tomorrow!
Anne says
genius *..i can’t spell..
Claire @ NavigatingNorth says
I have never done the runny yolks before…let alone on a pizza…I do love the idea though and your creativity never ceases to amaze me! I’m feeling a cook up of my own over here now! Tell Sadie that cats are the worst, computers are rad, but having a stay-at-home mommy is totally FAB! I think it’s awesome you are doing what you love!
christina says
sorry about your computer /server issues….
that pizza looks so yummy and fun! i definitely have to try it!!
Angie says
I have to chime in as well – once you go Mac, you never go back! ….see, the saying works for multiple things. 🙂 I am sure Mac also has a much better software for blogging. You should definitely look into it! I’m on my 2nd Macbook – my first one lasted 6 years and I only sold it (for $400!) because I wanted all the new bells & whistles. Still worked great!
Dell’s are cheap for a reason. Enough said.
peanutbutterfingers says
ahhh i know. i want one!
Liv @ The Salty n' Sweet says
Mmm I first saw egg-topped pizza on Meals n’ Miles, but it still looks as good as the first time!
I hate when I have problems that are out of my control.
Today, I also had issues with exporting the comments on my blog, and tore my hair out for 2 hours trying to fix it.
I hope that everything gets resolved soon!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Breakfast pizza is amazing!!! You’ve got to try your breakfast pizza idea. I had never heard of this magical dish until I had a layover in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and saw “breakfast pizza” on the menu. The pizza there had a light layer of gruyere cheese, thinly sliced prosciutto, and of course, drippy eggs. It is amazing…
Happy dreams. I’m glad all worked out with your server transfer.
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
I would NEVER have thought to do that but it sounds SO GOOD!
Victoria (District Chocoholic) says
If you are ever in DC, you need to go to Pizzeria Paradiso and get the pizza with egg on it. Or the pizza with potato slices. Or both.
And THEN get chocolate and salted caramel gelato at Dolcezza next door.
kristen says
at first I thought, eggs on a pizza?? but that looks quite delicious!
Hope the computer problems work out soon, but I havent notice any delay 🙂
Katie says
Buy a Mac. You won’t regret it! Totally worth the business investment 🙂
Lola says
I agree. Love the Mac – going on three years and still working the same as the day I got it 🙂
Alisa @ Running with Knives says
I was computer-less for a few months earlier this year, because my two year old laptop decided it was done working and fixing it would cost as much as a new computer. So what did I do? I bought my brother’s old laptop from him.
The good news is: at least it appears that your site is up and running again!
Danielle says
I second that! Buy a mac, you won’t regret it!
I switched over about a year ago and love my mac. It is an adjustment, I am still on a PC at work, but I am loving it. It truly is worth the investment. One of my mom’s co-workers has had her mac laptop for 10 years!
Really eggs on a pizza? Um okay…………..
sarah says
I have seen megan defend this zany egg pizza topping on meals and miles a ton, but I never thought I’d see the day it broke the mainstream magazine world! What next? Provolone and apple butter grilled cheese for all? Haha… looks good Julie 😉
Dee says
Sadie is glowing in the background of the recipe picture! What a dog she must be…*random question alert* Do you have an opinion on LUNA bars? I’ve been on a LUNA bar craze lately, but have a feeling it is just a snicker bar in disguise!!
Kristen @ Chocolate Covered Kristen says
I had a breakfast pizza recently at a cafe in San Fran – it was covered in veggies and a nice, runny egg. OMG delicious!!!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
I love eggs and I love pizza but I have never combined the two!
Julie says
I studied abroad in Rome this past semester and in some restaurants there they topped their pizzas with eggs too, surprisingly delicious! Did you ever come across any egg topped pizzas while you were there? 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
no! i wish i did though!
Khushboo says
That looks delicious! Have you tried spaghetti bowls topped with eggs- amazing! The combo of marinara sauce, cheese+eggs is out of this world!
Erica @ suBOURBON Tales says
Sorry about the technical issues! My very first laptop was a Dell and after replacing the battery twice and having it professionally repaired once within the first YEAR of owning it, it finally crapped out on me. Then I got a Gateway which was somewhat better, but not really. Neither had particularly great customer service, but I remember Dell’s being particularly horrendous. After being on hold for literally over an hour, they informed me my warranty was expired and would have to pay to receive assistance. No thanks!!!
After those two, I bought a mac and purchased Parallel to be able to run Windows programs (which works wonderfully). I’ve had it for two years without a single problem. I can’t comment on their customer service as I’ve never had to call them.
peanutbutterfingers says
that’s great to hear about parallel! i’m really considering it!
Ryan @ EatSaveTravel.com says
Wow, I would have never thought to put an egg on Pizza but I just might have to try this sometime!
Jamie aka "Sometimes Healthy Girl" says
I had a breakfast pizza recently at an Italian restaurant. It was DELICIOUS. Yours actually looks better than the pizza I had at the restaurant. Well done!
