I think it’s safe to say that Sadie is feeling f-i-n-e.
A woman from our vet’s office called to check on Sadie today and when she asked me how Sadie was doing, I looked over at her and saw this…
I think Sadie is finding it a little difficult to take the vet’s “take it easy” orders to heart.
Lunch
Lunch today was nice and simple. I made myself chicken salad and served it with a side of carrots and a Bosc pear.
And no, I didn’t take the time to peel my carrots. Wash and eat!
Further proof that Sadie is feeling more and more like her old self can be seen in the below picture.
I can’t even handle her face in that photo!
I shall call that look Chicken Obsessed.
You can also see the area where they shaved Sadie’s shoulder to prep her for surgery in the above picture. (You can see a little bit of her stitches as well, but as someone who cannot handle blood and pictures of anything medical, no close up pictures of stitches – canine or human – will ever pop up on this blog, I assure you.) Ryan and I are assuming her arm is shaved because that’s where they inserted an IV, but that’s a guess. Maybe they just wanted to make her look fancy.
Blog Challenge
For my blogging friends out there, Katy Widrick is hosting a 28-day blog challenge where participants dedicate a month to “reworking, refreshing and rethinking blogs, social media spaces, community and more.”
I already signed up to participate and wanted to spread the word just in case you’re looking for a little motivation to help you improve your blog a bit, too!
You can learn more here: 28 Day Blog Challenge.
I would love to meet Miss Sadie one day…you too, of course, but I bet she would greet me with more excitement! 😉
So glad she is feeling better!
she might pee a little. 🙂
No problem, my little Louie does the same thing. I call it “spreading the love”! 😉
So does my dog! It’s embarassing when guests come over.
Any ideas how to stop this behaviour?!
My dog trainer says to have your friends ignore the dog when they first come in. Let the dog calm down completely before they pet him. This method seems to help, but doesn’t always work for me. Hope it helps you. 🙂
My husband and I starting training dogs at the shelter as a volunteer activity we could do together. The first rule they told us: ignore the dog if it is there when we first walk in.
Mixed reviews on this technique, but we were also told if they jump on you, turning your back tells them the jumping is not tolerated.
Haha they should have started shaving shapes or words in her fur – so stylish! And her face is adorable, I have such a hard time resisting giving my brother’s dog of bite of whatever I’m eating.
So happy to hear Sadie has found her spunk so soon!
She looks back to normal! I’m just curious, how old is Sadie?
Thanks for posting the blog challenge. I just started blogging this month and could use all the help I can get!
katy’s blog is a GREAT resource for blogging tips and tricks! i love it!
So cute! Our dog gets the same desperate look over pumpkin. He goes crazy when he smells it! Glad she’s feeling better 🙂
Glad Sadie is feeling better! 🙂 Love the chicken obsessed photo. Addie gets that look, but it’s for string cheese. I swear she knows the sound of the plastic being unzipped and is immediately giving the String Cheese Obssessed look. lol.
Signed up for the challenge!
Aw glad she is recovering well!!
I am going to have to check out the challenge, my blog is still new so it is all a challenge to me! HA!
Aww..poor little shaved Sadie! At least she seems to be handling the situation well.. 😉 And I am so glad to hear she is getting back to her normal self already! She is such a ham !!
Nice blog post. You have a beautiful dog ! I haven’t eating lunch yet, so your food looks so YUMMY !
Definitely checking out the challenge! Glad to hear Sadie’s looking and feeling like her old self! 🙂
I’m so glad little miss Sadie is feeling fine & is ok!! 🙂 Thanks for the link on the 28 day blog challenge, great idea!!
Sadie’s face in the second picture says, “Mommy, I just had surgery. I NEED chicken! I’m recuperating!”
haha awwww!! Glad Sadie is feeling better 😀 and yea, you are right about why they shaved her arm haha my cat had that done to him too… looked really funny since he’s a giant fluff ball LOL! He also has shaved shoulders– but that’s for his insulin LOL! Such trendsetters 😉
It’s so good to see Sadie looking more like her normal self in these pictures! I am very new to blogging and look forward to reading Katy’s blog for some advice. You and Ryan are right with your IV assumption, I have worked with vets on dogs and horses for a long time and that cute little extra shaved shot is normal.
So happy that Sadie is feeling better! My dog’s favorite food is chicken so that photo looks familiar. Thanks for the challenge info!
That look kills me! She is just trying to look as pitiful as possible!
so happy to see that sweet upside down face!! our gsp boomer does that every night when we say “time for bed!” which leads to my husband carrying him like a baby all the way to bed. needless to say, he’s got us trained pretty well..
Love that picture of Sadie, it reminds me of the cat from Puss and Boots! I am so excited for Katy’s blog challenge, I immediately signed up when she posted, such a fantastic idea! I feel like she knows everything!
OMG that face! Cuteness overload! So happy she is feeling better!
Aw, so glad to see she’s doing better 🙂 And how nice of them to call and check on her!
Awww, I’m so glad Sadie is doing better! Her faces – they KILL me! Oh dogs, they’re so ridiculous! Thanks for sharing that blog challenge – super excited for that!
Good to see Miss Sadie is back to her energetic self! That pic with her begging for the chicken just made my day!
Thanks for the info on the challenge! I am looking forward to it!
That is such an adorable doggy face.
And thanks for the link – definitely going to check that out!
Glad that sweet puppy-face of yours is recovering nicely. I’ll be thinking good thoughts that she stays healthy for a real long time.
Aw yay! Sadie’s back to her usual antics 😉
So happy to see that Miss Sadie is feeling better! Julie, I just love your blog and recipes! Every morning when I’m setting up for work, I make my way over to pbfingers. 🙂
If you have time, can you share your chicken salad recipe? I can’t seem to find a good one and the one you posted looks delicious! Thanks!!!
Molly
Thanks for posting these pictures of Sadie today, it’s so nice to see her feeling better! I am so glad that everything went well for her this week. That whole ordeal must been so stressful for y’all!
Glad she’s feeling better! Yay!
Holy cow, I CANT even look, that face is so ridiculously adorable! What a little ham! I’m glad that she’s feeling better though!
Oh. My. Gosh. That FACE! I’ve been reduced to mush just looking at it.
Her leg is shaved because they put in an IV catheter, usually to provide her with fluids during the procedure, or for ease of administration of IV medications. (I know, it’s nerdy, but I work in veterinary medicine)
I’m also doing the 28DBC! Already rocking a new layout over at my blog and can’t wait to check off some other things on my to-do list 🙂 Happy blog spiffing!
I am glad to see Sadie is feeling good!
Oh my gosh sadie is SO CUTE! I’m definitely going to check out the challenge. There’s not a whole lot I can do with mine since it’s still fairly new anyways but I can always learn something new!
Thank you for not peeling your carrots! I am glad Sadie is feeling better, what a trooper!
Glad to hear that Sadie is doing well 🙂 And you’re right – her face in that last picture is just too much to handle. Did she get some chicken for her efforts?
I would NOT have been able to resist that face either. Too cute. I’m so glad she’s feeling better, and I hope she got a little bite of that chicken (or maybe a piece of carrot–baby carrots are one of my dog’s favorite treats).
I am so glad to hear and see that Sadie is feeling better!! Dogs sure do bounce back fast!
For some reason it always cracks me up when people do not peel their carrots. It just seems so foreign to me, I guess ;).
Julie, I am so thankful that Sadie is feeling much better!! The pic from your trooper post broke my heart. I read your blog every day so I feel like I know Sadie! Her personality comes through in her pictures and she seems like such a sweetheart! I have two dogs that I adore more than words and I am thinking positive thoughts for you guys!
Haha, she’s looking good as new!
so happy to hear Sadie is doing better!!! xoxo
That face!!! So glad she’s feeling better.
Yay! That is great news. That face is so sweet, I would never be able to say no.
aww sadie is so cute–dogs are the best :] My husband and I are getting our goldendoodle puppy tomorrow–soooo excited :] love your blog.

Glad to see Sadie is feeling back to her normal self. 🙂
Haha I’m def guilty of rarely washing my carrots- whoops ;)!
Glad Sadie is getting back to her normal self. I get lazy with carrot peeling too- it’s one of the biggest (smallest?) pains! I’ll have mine skin on thank ya
That “chicken” face is too much! 🙂 MY guy has a “don’t you want me to sit on the couch with you?” face that works like a charm.
