Gosh, this weekend was jam-packed. From the moment Ryan and I awoke on Saturday morning, it felt like we didn’t stop moving.
We had a lot on the agenda, the most important of which I’ll be sure to address fully tomorrow, but for now let’s just stick with a quick recap.
Ryan and I spent the night at my parents’ house in St. Pete on Saturday after enjoying a fantastic St. Patrick’s Day dinner with Ryan’s family on Saturday night. Ryan’s grandma made corned beef and cabbage which we ate along with a wonderful dessert of chocolate cake and ice cream.
It was a great meal, as always, and we loved spending time with Ryan’s family. Our visits are always too short!
Today
This morning, after a warm breakfast of banana pecan coconut baked oatmeal, I headed to Jazzercise with my mom. My mom is an avid Jazzerciser and I think the class is a total blast and love going with her when I’m in town.
By the time we were done with the class, we headed home and everyone was bustling about. My sister and her boyfriend Ross arrived at the house and everyone changed into their swimsuits for our first boat day of the year!
Two dogs, six people!
We had a packed boat and the perfect weather for a fun day on the water.
Captain Sadie took her job of looking out for potential sea hazards very seriously.
Dolphin!
Before we were done for the day, my dad made sure to drive the boat into a little secluded inlet where the dogs were able to play fetch in the water away from other boats and currents.
After a few rounds of fetch, Sadie’s life jacket came out. She is actually very tolerant of her little life jacket, which I guess isn’t surprising considering that she loves wearing clothes. She just loves being all bundled up!
The little handle on the back of the life jacket makes it really easy to pluck her from the water!
Someone likes the salt water.
When we arrived home from our afternoon of boating, it was time for lunch… round two!
We had tacos and white cheddar macaroni and cheese… emphasis on the mac and cheese for me!
Then it was time for ice cream. I had two bowls of chocolate marshmallow ice cream as we watched the end of a movie we started on Saturday night and Ryan and I left St. Pete early this evening in a food coma. What is it about trips home to visit your parents that always make you pack in all the good food you can?
Such a wonderful weekend. And now I’m pooped. I have a feeling my bed time will arrive rather early this evening.
G’night!
Oh what a gorgeous day!! I would love to be boating too 😉 Hah. But I am totally enjoying the ski vacay I am on with my family. There is something very awesome about delicious food and fabulous family. It’s a good combo!!
Can’t wait to hear more deets about your running around!!
Looks like a great weekend! We got our first pool day in today!
I love trips home! It’s just so comforting and you will like a kid again I think…plus…you’re not cooking! haha!
Haha my parents have those same plates in the first picture!
Ahhh…I love my town. We should hang out sometime when you’re in St. Pete!
Oh man, I would love to be out on the water right now! That looks so fun 🙂 I think my great aunt has the same plates as Ryan’s grandma, haha. Sounds like a great weekend!
Where did you get Sadie’s life jacket? I need one for my pup for summer on the lake!
heeere ya go! http://www.thepet-boutique.com/dog_life_jacket.htm
Oh I’m so jealous, I miss going out on boats! It’s a rare occasion for me now! Looks like such a fun day with family!
So jealous of your boat outing! I wish I knew someone with a boat haha. I’m loving this Florida weather though, so I can’t complain. Glad you had what sounds like a great weekend! Get some good sleep tonight 🙂
Strange comment but It looks like Ryan has very flat feet???
yes he does!
chocolate marshmallow ice cream…. sounds yummy!
Wish I could have wore my bathing suit this weekend but we got tons of rain! However, we did make it to the beach for some bar drinking with friends. 😉
Glad you had a great weekend.
So envious of your day on a boat!! I can’t wait until its fully summertime up here in NJ! 🙂
Looks like fun! We had a fun Saturday, too … so much fun, in fact, that I ended up passing out by 8:30! I was pooped! 😉
Jealous! We’re just getting our boat ready to be hauled into the water; it’s going to be another month or so though and I am dying to get back out there.
Now we just need a dog!
Tacos, mac and cheese, and ice cream. pretty weird combo there…
looks like it was a great weekend with good food! Sadie’s tongue curled up she loved the salt water so much, haha, she’s the cutest
Looks like so much fun! I can’t even tell you how excited I am for warmer weather!! Your pictures make me want to go to the lake big time!
I am loving the pictures of Sadie and Kona!!! What little hams 🙂
Awesome day! Your family looks like fun 🙂 I totally dug the picture of the 2 dog butts haha.
Looks like such an amazing day and the dogs both look super happy!
Me on the other hand, I’m hungry from looking at that mac and cheese! 😉
Can’t wait for boat days! It’s 84degrees here, in Nashville. I’m so ready for summer!
I am currently visiting my family right now and you are totally right… Indulging & overeating happens every single time!
Hope you enjoyed your weekend, Julie! Looks like a great time 🙂
I love Sadie’s jacket! Who can pick her up from the water? How much does she weigh? (if she doesn’t mind me asking) 🙂
Omg Sadie is the cutest! Jealous of your FL March boating adventures… it’s been warm here in PA but we’re not quite there haha.
So happy to see Sadie in her life jacket. Good for you!
Your boating trip looks so fun. How often do you go?
we go a lot more in the summer – i probably join my family 6 – 8x a year!
tacos and white cheddar mac ‘n cheese… sounds like an interesting combo! 😉 glad you guys all had a great time! it’s been snowing/raining here this weekend, so a boat trip in the warm sun sounds glorious right about now!
What a fun weekend! Boat days are the best 🙂
I went to my parents house tonight for supper – and came home soooo full of steak and cookies! I can’t move. Not that I’m complaining 😉
I LOVE the picture of Sadie and her curled tongue!! Oh man, those two puppies look like they had a BLAST! I didn’t notice the resemblance between Sadie and Kona until that picture of Kona with her big ol’ open-mouthed smile!
Really liking your aviators, too!
Are you pregnant?!..other pregnant bloggers have been emphasising about their mac and cheese cravings! 😉
ha! definitely not.
I’m SO jealous that you live in such a fun place, it looks like a great day!
Omg I love Sadie’s life jacket! SO cute! Sometime’s I wish my dog were a girl:). I also wish he liked water! He hates swimming – we put a lifejacket on and put him in the river when he was 6 or so months old and he freaked, but we keep trying!
It must be great to enjoy the boat in family!
Hah—my dad actually pointed out to me that the first thing I do when I walk into his house is scope out the food situation. I never realized it, but it’s true! He just always has such fun goodies!
What a fun weekend! I love how close your family is! 🙂
Looks like such a great time! So jealous you were able to wear a bathing suit and go in the water! 🙂
Aww the puppies are so cute on the boat! Looks like a beautiful day to enjoy being out on the water! My dog loves swimming in the pond near-by (it’s more like a lake than a pond- it’s pretty huge) but I don’t know if he would just jump off the side of a boat- he will only fetch sticks in the water so far.. What do you toss out for Sadie?
we have a rubber ball that’s perfect for throwing in the water. she loves it!
Sounds like a really fun day. Beautiful weather we are all having. This may be a dumb question, but the first picture you have a yellow dress on and the pictures after that you have a green dress on. Same dress – different color. How did you do that?
the first picture is my sister. 🙂
Wow you guys look a lot alike. That is so neat.
The doggies are so cute! I bet they were lovin’ life!
Aww, looks like you guys had a wonderful time! Especially Saddie! 🙂 How cute is the life-vest!
Sounds like you had a wonderful day!
Do Sadie & Kona get along well?
Oh I love boat days! We went to the lake this weekend, but it was too windy and choppy for the boat. Kona looks just like my chocolate lab, Lola. She and Sadie crack me up!
Mac and Cheese is my favorite food. Seriously. And that is terrible! Haha.
This looks like SO much fun! We live by the lake and are actually moving to the coast in September.. but have yet to be out on the water this season! This post is killing me! I NEED to go!
The dogs are adorable! We got to meet our friends’ 2 chocolate Lab puppies on Saturday…Auggie and Shasta are 5 months old. Along with our 2 Labs, it was quite a party
Sadie looks so cute in her life jacket! 🙂
