When the alarm went off this morning, I was wide awake. That almost never happens! I feel like I usually arrive at the gym half awake, so it was nice to feel energetic first thing in the morning. I’ll take it!
This morning I began my workout with a 20 minute elliptical warm up before setting up a little station for myself to complete today’s Best Body Boot Camp workout. There is limited free floor space in my gym, so I always try to lay down a mat and grab an exercise ball if I need one to mark my territory, otherwise I’ll have to complete circuit workouts among the weights which makes me feel awkward and in the way.
I loved how my gym in Orlando had a loft space that people could use to complete workouts that required open floor space. Floor space is a hot commodity!
Breakfast
Once we arrived home from the gym, it was time for breakfast.
I made myself whole wheat French toast with cinnamon and inhaled it!
It has been far too long since I’ve had French toast and this breakfast made me way too happy.
First Perfume
With breakfast in our bellies, Ryan and I leashed Sadie up for her morning walk. As we strolled around the neighborhood, we passed two teenage boys walking to the bus stop. We actually smelled them before we saw them because their cologne was so strong! Oh, high school days.
The strong smell of their cologne prompted a conversation about our first perfume/cologne. Ryan said he was all about Curve in high school.
He also said Michael Jordan cologne was quite popular among his friends. As someone who grew up outside of Chicago when the Chicago Bulls were winning billions of championships, Michael Jordan cologne was very popular among the guys I knew as well. Everyone wanted to “Be Like Mike!” (<— I may or may not have this song on my iPod.) When I was in high school I was all about Gap Dream perfume.
Remember that!? Or perhaps you preferred Gap Grass? Or Gap Om?
I also succumbed to the Abercrombie & Fitch trend and had a mini bottle of A&F perfume that was my “special occasion” perfume. So snazzy!
Love’s Baby Soft! Please tell me someone else out there remembers this stuff!
Question of the Morning
- Do you remember your first perfume or cologne?
Though it’s not a perfume, as far as scents are concerned, I also loved Bath and Body Works Sun-Ripened Raspberry body splash. That stuff is like 7th grade in a bottle for me!
Leigh-Ann says
my first was Gap Pink!! loved it!
Elizabeth @ myneonrunningshoes says
I also had gap pink!!! And clinique happy!
Megan says
Do you remember teen spirit deodorant! Ha that stuff was great. I can’t remember my first perfume but I think it was a Ralph Lauren one in a pink bottle, I remember my BF in 8th grade giving it to me. I never really liked the smell of it and it traveled with me through many apartments until I finally through it out at some point in college. Gosh I sound like a hoarder.
Maureen @ Breaking Free & Finding Me says
I totally think of Bath & Body Works (and al the glitter products!) as my childhood 😉 but my first perfume was Fresh by Adidas, I believe!
Maureen @ Breaking Free & Finding Me says
or Clinique Happy! Because my Grammie would get samples with her makeup and give it to me.
Laura@ Backstage Balance says
I totally loved Dream from The Gap as well for High School! College was all about the A&F perfume, and Emporio Armani. Now I love Philosophy’s pure grace.
Amy G. says
That was my FIRST perfume too! I was so excited when my mom gave it to me! I was in like 6th or 7th grade so it was pretty cool 🙂
Logan @ Mountains and Miles says
Gap Dream and Gap Lucky!! I was also a big fan of the Abercrombie, but it was only for special occasions, ha.
Lindsey says
I had Sunflowers! I just remember I loved the box it came in haha!
Ally M. says
I do remember Love’s Baby Soft! I always thought it smelled like barbies when I was little… and yes I realize that’s weird.
Never really rocked perfume; always gave me a headache. Tons of guys in my school were wearing Curve, though – in fact, I may have bought it for a boyfriend once.
Nicole says
Too funny, Gap dream was the trend for every girl I think! I also remember Hollister perfume in high school because my friend was the model on the box so we all had to have it. My VERY first perfume though, Tommy Hilfiger’s Tommy Girl. Surprised that wasn’t on your list also!
Emily @ Maple Miles says
I had Gap Dream AND Love’s Baby Soft!!! Another one that I had was the whole Bottled Emotions line–I think it was by Bonne Bell. My favorite was “Romantic”! 🙂
Kaleigh Leach says
I had Love’s Baby Soft too!!
Anele @ Success Along the Weigh says
Oh I like to think of Love’s Baby Soft as the “training bra” of perfumes. It’s one most of us had or most of us of a certain age might’ve started off with Avon’s Sweet Honesty. In high school I wore Tatiana, Wind Song (“I can’t seem to forget you…your Wind Song stays on my miiiiind.” What does that even mean?), Odyssey, then graduated to Estee Lauder’s White Linen, Cinnabar and Youth Dew. Oh my Lord! I’m getting a head just remembering the smells!
Now I’m strictly Ralph Lauren Blue or some french perfume called Fleurs Blanches from Anthro.
Jen says
Oh! I loved Gap Om! Clinique Happy and CK One were also really popular when I was in school.
Brynn says
Ahaha! Love’s Baby Soft was my first perfume too! My mom wore it in junior high and she bought me some when I was that age. I haven’t smelled it in years but in my mind it smells like deodorant. 🙂
Sarah@Making Thyme for Health says
Mine was also BabySoft! So powdery! I got into to all the Bath & Body Works smells too. Cucumber melon and sun ripened raspberry were the most popular. Ahhh, to be a kid again…
Greta says
Malibu Musk. Man I feel old.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
I literally have not eaten french toast in years! I need to change that ASAP because that looks fabulous!!
I think that my first perfume was Tommy Hilfiger! I also really liked Abercrombie and Fitch’s perfume (and still do!).
Erin @ Axell's Kitchen says
I was all about Britney Spears’s perfume..Can’t remember the name but the one with the cute aqua bottle with the pink puff thing? I still love that smell! I also wore Patchouli- I was borderline hippie haha
Suzanne @ Mixing It Up says
Love’s Baby Soft was my very first perfume followed by Electric Youth, by Debbie Gibson!! I loved that stuff and totally thought I was awesome when wearing it, lol!
Andrea says
This comment made me so happy! For my birthday one year all I wanted was Electric Youth perfume.
Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie says
Omg the boys in Jr high used to go on axe spraying sprees, it was horrible! Haha I can’t remember my first perfume anymore but now I’m all about Chanel chance eau fraiche and Dior miss Cherie. I’m so craving french toast now!
Tina says
Definitely remember Love’s Baby Soft! I’m a bit older than you and it was definitely my first perfume. Funny how that stuff stuck around for a couple of decades! Brings back great memories!
Olivia says
Gap Dream was my first! My Mom worked at Gap, so it was pretty much meant to be.
Lisa says
I can still remember Christmas in sixth grade when I got Loves Baby Soft in my stocking! I thought I had won the Christmas lottery! In 8th grade I deemed myself “too grown up for that” and switched to Gap Dream and wore it through high school! Smelly memories!! 🙂
Erin (Running Tall) says
Ooh I remember the Gap Dream one! My first perfumes were an Adidas one and Tommy Hilfiger Girl. I feel like I can still smell them as I type this haha!
Sonja @ The {Happy} Travel Bug says
Oh yes, I also had the Love’s Baby Soft. I also had this little bottle with Holly Hobbie or something like that on it. But high school was all about Lagerfeld for boys and Obsession for girls and boys. Great memories!
Catriona says
Ahh I remember Gap Dream!!
I had Gap “Pink” 🙂
Definitely remember the Sun-Ripened Raspberry from B&B works. I also liked “Juniper Breeze” from them! So middle-school.
Sarah says
My first perfume was Exclamation, probably when I was about 13. I also used Loves Baby Soft. In my early twenties I was addicted to the GAP fragrances. I still have bottles of all the scents. Dream and Heaven were my favorites. I still wear Dream from time to time.
Katie @ running4cupcakes says
Oh my gosh – YES! I still love that scent. I was partial to the bath and body works fruit sprays too in high school. And I hate when a gym doesn’t have space for you to do circuits and core stuff. And it is totally better if there is a space where you aren’t front and center in the workout room. My YMCA has a space but you are basically working out in front of all the cardio equipment! So annoying sometimes.
Amanda says
Ha I remember Baby Soft, but never wore it. I was all about Gap Heaven and A&F. I also loved Bath & Body Works – Cucumber Melon was the jam!
Cate says
I totally got on the Love’s Baby Soft bandwagon. I remember getting a gift set one year and thought I was the bomb. I also looooooved Debbie Gibson’s Electric Youth! It was bright pink and had a lightening bolt in the bottle. I used to get so mad because my sisters always called it electric puke. That was probably a more fitting name now that I think of it. I also loved Gap Grass, but I think I was in college then. 🙂
Amber Mitchell says
Exlimation and sunflowers were my junior high years in a bottle lol
Sara @ Nourish and Flourish says
This was a fun walk down memory lane! Gap Dream was one of my first perfumes, too. However my first “big girl” perfume–from the beauty counters at the department store–was Clinique Happy. I got it for Christmas in 7th grade, and literally sprayed it on every piece of clothing I was wearing every single day. The bottle was gone in just a few months!
Erica says
I believe we shared the EXACT same “smell” in perfume! LOVED Baby’s Soft – brings me back!
Molly from LifesLemons says
Mine was Clinique Happy. For some reason I always forgot to spray it on before school but whenever I remembered, I felt reallllly ready for the day….to take on middle school boys….I mean math!
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions says
I’ve never actually owned a bottle of perfume at all! I did the Bath and Body Works body splash thing for about a year of high school, but I’ve never been able to convince myself to actually buy a real bottle of perfume. Someday!
Natalie @ Free Range Human says
I actually don’t remember my first perfume, but it’s so funny that you mention Curve. That was definitely all the rage in high school with the boys! It’s funny how trends go!
Kelsey says
Bath and Bodyworks Warm Vanilla Sugar. I still love vanilla! Then Victoria Secret Dream 🙂
Jen @ Chocolate Chips & Tricep Dips says
I had the Love’s and the Gap Dream, too!!! 🙂 I love French Toast! It’s the first (and maybe only???) meal my husband cooked for me.
Brooke @ Running In Heels says
I got Tommy Girl and Abercrombie 8 on the same birthday.. too funny!
OneRunningMama says
Love’s Baby Soft for the win! And I also vaguely remember Exclamation (?) perfume. Weird how just smelling a scent can bring back a flood of memories.
I wonder what kids these days are wearing. (“Kids these days?” Gosh, am I *that* old??) I hope it’s not the same scents I’m wearing NOW… :-/
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat says
I was all about Moonlight Path by Bath and Body Works. I loved that one!
Lindsay says
Oh gosh, this brings back memories!! I used Clinique Happy because my sister did, but wasn’t the biggest fan. These days I use Ralph Lauren Romance. Sooo pretty!
Julie says
My first perfume was exclamation and it was sold in the drug store. I also used tribe. Back in highshool in the late 90s Victoria Secret made these delicious perfumes like vanilla-peach, vanilla-caramel and vanilla-apricot which smelled like heave. They they stopped making them. I still remember how great they smelled. I also used BBW sun ripened raspberry and fresia was ah-mazing!
Karin says
I was such a perfume junkie in school. I loved Gap’s Dream and CKone, and went through bottles of both. Now I wear Lavanila’s Vanilla Grapefruit scent, people always comment on it.
Coco says
HAHA I Love Love’s! And I remember the Gap perfumes too….my first was Tommy Hilfiger, I thought I was sooo cool.
Lauren @ Rustic Honey says
HAHA! Love this! Curve and Adidas perfumes and cologne were most popular when I was in high school! Funny how those fragrances bring back so many memories!
Sherry says
Oh my goodness, Baby Soft was my very first perfume too! I have 4 kiddos and 3 of them are girls and I may have bought them a bottle of Baby Soft for X-mas one year. Too cute!
Casie says
Haha love’s baby soft that was my first, mine came in a four pack along with a blue, purple and orange bottle, but in high school the addidas moves was what was big!
Jessica @fromthekitchentotheroad says
Oh my goodness! I had that Love’s Baby Soft also. I don’t think I would have remembered that on my own! I also rocked the Bath and body works sprays back in junior high. What a flash back.
Marissa @Barefoot Colorado says
Loves baby soft!! omg! My cousin gave that to me when I was younger because she didn’t want it anymore. Of course I wore it all the time… and of course all of my family members hated that I smelled like baby powder all the time. haha!
