When the alarm went off this morning, I was wide awake. That almost never happens! I feel like I usually arrive at the gym half awake, so it was nice to feel energetic first thing in the morning. I’ll take it!
This morning I began my workout with a 20 minute elliptical warm up before setting up a little station for myself to complete today’s Best Body Boot Camp workout. There is limited free floor space in my gym, so I always try to lay down a mat and grab an exercise ball if I need one to mark my territory, otherwise I’ll have to complete circuit workouts among the weights which makes me feel awkward and in the way.
I loved how my gym in Orlando had a loft space that people could use to complete workouts that required open floor space. Floor space is a hot commodity!
Breakfast
Once we arrived home from the gym, it was time for breakfast.
I made myself whole wheat French toast with cinnamon and inhaled it!
It has been far too long since I’ve had French toast and this breakfast made me way too happy.
First Perfume
With breakfast in our bellies, Ryan and I leashed Sadie up for her morning walk. As we strolled around the neighborhood, we passed two teenage boys walking to the bus stop. We actually smelled them before we saw them because their cologne was so strong! Oh, high school days.
The strong smell of their cologne prompted a conversation about our first perfume/cologne. Ryan said he was all about Curve in high school.
He also said Michael Jordan cologne was quite popular among his friends. As someone who grew up outside of Chicago when the Chicago Bulls were winning billions of championships, Michael Jordan cologne was very popular among the guys I knew as well. Everyone wanted to “Be Like Mike!” (<— I may or may not have this song on my iPod.) When I was in high school I was all about Gap Dream perfume.
Remember that!? Or perhaps you preferred Gap Grass? Or Gap Om?
I also succumbed to the Abercrombie & Fitch trend and had a mini bottle of A&F perfume that was my “special occasion” perfume. So snazzy!
Love’s Baby Soft! Please tell me someone else out there remembers this stuff!
Question of the Morning
- Do you remember your first perfume or cologne?
Though it’s not a perfume, as far as scents are concerned, I also loved Bath and Body Works Sun-Ripened Raspberry body splash. That stuff is like 7th grade in a bottle for me!
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Def Gap Pink & Clinque Happy for my first two!!!!
Jacki says
I remember Love’s Baby Soft! It may have been my first perfume ever.
Jeanie says
Curve!!! I remember this smell vividly 🙂 I was all about cotton candy body spray at a young age, and then moved on to clinique “happy Heart” or Gap “dream”.. good times!
katie says
omggggggggggg that was my first perfume tooooooooooo! talk about blast from the past…i havent thought about that in ages and ages!!!!!!!!!
joelle (on a pink typewriter) says
OMG! Baby Soft was TOTALLY my favorite as a kid – I thought I was so fancy. Then in high school, I had Candy and Burberry.
PS. Abercrombie’s smell whenever I pass the store still instantly transfers me back to high school and shopping there!
Caroline @ Capture the Cadence says
That was totally my 1st perfume too. Sending me back to remembering the little gold purse I use to keep it in. It’s so funny how perfume can make you feel like such a big girl when you’re playing house 😉 And I’m pretty sure I remember seeing bottles of my brothers CURVE cologne in high school. Crazy how certain smells bring back FLOODS of memories!!!
dotsi says
HA HA HA 7th grade in a bottle!! 😀 HAHA that is funny! And SO TRUE!! My Mom was a big fan of that scent, too…I also liked VS’s Strawberries and Champagne…and B and BW Country Apple…I DO remember Love’s Baby Soft but I didn’t like it, think it made my nose itch!
Today I am totally allergic and don’t wear any perfume 🙁
Megan Elizabeth says
Oh wow! I totally forgot about it, but love’s baby soft was my first perfume too! Mmm those were the days 🙂
Christina says
omg i had that abercrombie perfume as well! I think my first perfume was britney spear’s first perfume, in the light blue bottle with the fancy spray piece. i was obsessed!
Cassie @RedLetterDaye says
I also wore Curve (for women) and Tommy Girl.
Katie @ KatieEnPursuit says
Oh my does this bring back memories! My stepsister wore Love’s Baby Soft & I was a “Vanilla Fields” kind of gal. I loved walking past A&F & smelling the cologne. Have a fab day!
Hillary says
Victoria’s Secret Love Spell was my jam in middle school- then I graduated to Vera Wang’s Princess. I also remember thinking that Hollister’s “Jake” was really popular with the boys
Ellee says
Haha totally cracks me up that we grew up in total different parts of the country (West Texas girl), and get I was SO into Gap scents, Abercrombie, AND Sun-ripened Raspberry. I guess that just means we were super hip in Jr. High and knew the pop culture trends 😉 .
Laurel says
Barry always wore curve and ya…I wore baby soft 🙂 hahaha….did you have Tinkerbell makeup? It was basically fake makeup…like the nail polish peeled off your fingers. Memories…..
Amanda says
haha that is too great. I still remember getting a little package for christmas with “Love’s Baby Soft” and the soaps that went with it 🙂 ahh, childhood!
Alyssa Mazzella says
First official perfume had to be Britney Spears Fantasy…I think i still have it hiding somewhere…
Michelle M says
Gap dream was mine but I loved the Grass smell! I used that and calgon’s “Hawaian tropic” body spray. lol
Ashley @ Life and Fitness says
Haha isn’t it funny how certain scents flash you right back to high school? I used to have a Britney Spears one that I put way too much on every morning.
Cait says
I totally used Gap grass! so weird come to think of it. However, Tommy Girl was my fav lol
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Haha oh yes, I was all about the A&F perfumes too. Love that it was your “special occasion” one! 🙂
Angela @ Health's Angel says
I remember a lot of people being obsessed with Sweet Pea from Bath and Body Works!
I think my first real perfume was “Curious” by Britney Spears. Hahaha. I was obsessed with anything Britney put her name on back in the day, so I had to have it.
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
I love how even though people come from all different walks of life and different places in the country, we all somehow managed to be into the SAME trends in high school. Hilarious. I used to have the mini bottles of GAP perfurme, and I’d have one in my pocket at all times, so that I could whip it out and smell like “dream” or “grass” at a moment’s notice.
Looking back, I’m pretty sure they smelled disgusting. But at the time, they were cool. And I also remember having Women’s Curve. And Tommy Hilfiger. 😉
Ashley says
Haha Ive never been much of a perfume person but I definitely remember the A&F being a super hot item as well as all of the Britney Spears perfumes. I also remember those flavored bath and bodyworks sprays being a huge deal in middle school.
Shannon says
Wow! I am freaking out beacuse I used some of the same perfumes and I had completely forgotten about them until this post! Especially the Gap perfumes… I thought I was so cool at the time! Everyone else at school had them also. And I also used the Baby Soft for my first perfume (pretty sure my mom bought it for me!) 🙂
Chelsea @ Chelsea Eats Treats says
I loved Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue! Haha I still like it, but I used to be obsessed with it. Before that I was all about the Bath & Body Works “body mists.” Yikes!
Jane {In the Pink and Green} says
I had SO much Sun-Ripened Raspberry stuff when I was in middle school, I swear a B&B gift set was the go-to gift during those years so I was definitely stocked after my birthday came around!
Casey Cox says
Hahah to funny! I loved grass! Can’t believe anyone else did! ha My first perfume was Icy. I can still smell it when i think about it. Now i want to smell it again!
Calista says
Mine was Love’s too! I was 10 or 11, I think. It smelled so good then and I still see it in the drug stores. I just have to sniff it and remember those times. But it doesn’t smell as good to me now. The other one I had was Exclamation!
Allison says
Sun ripened raspberry! I can’t smell that stuff without remembering summer camp. That was the body wash I brought and I have such a strong memory tied to that smell. 🙂
Whitney @ Yoga Pancake says
I totally jumped on the Clinque Happy bandwagon back in high school. I don’t know what the heck I was thinking because I now totally hate wearing any perfume!
Julie says
OMG! You’re too funny! Baby soft was my first perfume and I was crazy about GAP dream in high school too!! 🙂
Makenzie says
Haha my first perfumes were only perfumes associated with my favorite people like Shania Twain and Hillary Duff 🙂
samantha says
We had the exact same taste in perfumes, only I had Abercrombie & Fitch’s “8”! Loved that stuff! 🙂
Tricia says
I definitly had both of them!! Exclamation was a very popular one in 5th grade. Middle School and HS. was Sunflowers by elizabeth arden and CKone.
Ashley says
Sunflowers was my middle school perfume for sure!! So funny!!
sara @ fitcupcaker says
I used to love clinique “happy” lol All of those are classic!
Nicole says
Oh I loved my Gap Dream perfume!!!
I also had Clinique Happy- which is still one of my favorites!
Too funny, thanks for the trip down memory lane! 🙂
Victoria @ Reluctantly Skinny says
I was a Bath and Body Works addict – especially with cucumber melon, which I can’t stand now! My poor family must have gotten so much of that crap for Christmas and birthday gifts. I used the gap perfume as my “special occasion” stuff, and when I was in high school, I jumped on the Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue bandwagon that everyone seemed to ride! Now, I definitely prefer more subtle stuff!
Joanna says
Charlie White and Gap Heaven were my first two! Followed quickly by Clinique Happy 🙂
Miranda @ Miranda Runs says
My first perfume was from Hollister. Oh the days of brand labeling. 7th grade was so awkward!
Lauren says
Jennifer Lopez’ Glo was my first perfume and people STILL tell me how much they miss giving me hugs in high school because I smelled so good. My college roommate even messaged me of Facebook and said she misses how good I smelled… Awkward but we have that kind of silly friendship hahaha. It’s funny how scents can really bring you back to past times!
Shannon @ Skinny Sometimes says
Hahahaha, I used the Baby Soft too! It thought it was soo cool.
Rebeka says
Oh my gosh, I definitely had gap grass. Ewe, what was I thinking? And, I had the Abercrombie perfume too. My other favorite was tommy girl (by tommy hillfigure) so fancy. Haha.
And I hateeee when I can’t find floor space at the gym, I total feel you on that one!
Michelle @ Nice Lil Saturday says
Oh jeez, I’m sure aside from some sort of Tinkerbell stuff when I was a pre-teen (does any remember that stuff?!) that my first perfume was probably Clinique Happy; still a great perfume!
Rebecca says
OMG trip back to high school/middle school! Baby Soft was definitely my perfume too, and I had the minis of ALL 3 Gap perfumes! Sun-Ripened Raspberry was another one I had! Does anyone remember Calgon????? I had all their beachy scents!
Jo says
I remember being around 9 years old and my mom buying Love’s Baby Soft for me at Walmart. I thought I was something special! 🙂
Kendra says
I’ve been looking for a new ‘grown-up’ perfume — something pretty but subtle. I threw away all those old B&BW sprays but never really replaced them with anything. Suggestions from anyone?
Lea @ Greens & Coffee Beans says
I wish my gym had more floor space too, for today’s Best Body workout I was running back and forth between the weight rack and exercise mats, it’s a good thing my gym is small.
I’ve never been a perfume wearer but, Bath and Body Work’s Sweet Pea was me and my friend’s go to smell, we had the lotion, the body spray, the body wash, everything! Now I can’t stand the smell of it do to an unfortunate Sweet Pea lotion backpack explosion!
Becky says
My first body spray was definitely probably Bath and Body Works, Sweet Pea. But I think my first real perfume was Lacoste something. I actually love it, and still have this same type of perfume! 🙂
Bobbi says
I remember Baby Soft, but my first one was Exclamation! The white and black bottle looked like an exclamation point???!!!
Jelena@FabLifePhD says
Did you have c-thru in the States? That thing was pretty awesome, all together with the glass perals on the bottom! I felt so fancy and was saving it for the special occasions
