When the alarm went off this morning, I was wide awake. That almost never happens! I feel like I usually arrive at the gym half awake, so it was nice to feel energetic first thing in the morning. I’ll take it!
This morning I began my workout with a 20 minute elliptical warm up before setting up a little station for myself to complete today’s Best Body Boot Camp workout. There is limited free floor space in my gym, so I always try to lay down a mat and grab an exercise ball if I need one to mark my territory, otherwise I’ll have to complete circuit workouts among the weights which makes me feel awkward and in the way.
I loved how my gym in Orlando had a loft space that people could use to complete workouts that required open floor space. Floor space is a hot commodity!
Breakfast
Once we arrived home from the gym, it was time for breakfast.
I made myself whole wheat French toast with cinnamon and inhaled it!
It has been far too long since I’ve had French toast and this breakfast made me way too happy.
First Perfume
With breakfast in our bellies, Ryan and I leashed Sadie up for her morning walk. As we strolled around the neighborhood, we passed two teenage boys walking to the bus stop. We actually smelled them before we saw them because their cologne was so strong! Oh, high school days.
The strong smell of their cologne prompted a conversation about our first perfume/cologne. Ryan said he was all about Curve in high school.
He also said Michael Jordan cologne was quite popular among his friends. As someone who grew up outside of Chicago when the Chicago Bulls were winning billions of championships, Michael Jordan cologne was very popular among the guys I knew as well. Everyone wanted to “Be Like Mike!” (<— I may or may not have this song on my iPod.) When I was in high school I was all about Gap Dream perfume.
Remember that!? Or perhaps you preferred Gap Grass? Or Gap Om?
I also succumbed to the Abercrombie & Fitch trend and had a mini bottle of A&F perfume that was my “special occasion” perfume. So snazzy!
Love’s Baby Soft! Please tell me someone else out there remembers this stuff!
Question of the Morning
- Do you remember your first perfume or cologne?
Though it’s not a perfume, as far as scents are concerned, I also loved Bath and Body Works Sun-Ripened Raspberry body splash. That stuff is like 7th grade in a bottle for me!
Sparkly Val says
Oh my gosh high school perfumes. I don’t remember what my very first one was, but I remember that in junior high Hawaiian Ginger by Calgon was super popular. Everyone, including myself was wearing it. Whenever I smell it now it reminds me of Jr High dances. There was also a drug store dupe for a Ralph Lauren perfume, but I don’t remember what is was called. A lot of people had though too.
Meaghan @ Just Me aghan says
haha, it’s funny how scents bring us right back. Mine was CKOne in middle school. Then, Dolce & Gabanna Light Blue throughout high school. That stuff makes me gag now. NO THANKS!
Katherine says
Oh my gosh CKOne! I thought I was SO cool with that that one!!
Carissa @Fit2Flex says
Oh man that is too funny. I’m sure we all can remember our “high school” smells. I still use the lotion, but Victoria’s Secret Love Spell says high school all over! #memories
Christie says
Oh I still love Loves Baby Soft!!! The smell of it brings me right about to childhood. And I absolutely had the Gap Dream and Grass in high school. Too funny lol
Jeanne says
First perfume = Exclamation… I thought it was so cool because it was in a black and white bottle shaped like an exclamation point:)
Danielle @ Truffles n' Treadmills says
I don’t remember my first perfume but I do know that I was big into Bath & Body Works splashes!
Anne says
Oh, sun ripened raspberry and country apple were my favorite BBW scents. Thank goodness that craze is over. I had so many little bottles of lotions and such that I never used.
Dana says
ha!! Babysoft was my first perfume as well! I also just picked up a small body spray version of Dream from Gap yesterday, love it! That french toast looks insane!!
Chloe says
I rememeber my first perfume. Addias for Women one sniff and I was hooked. I don’t know what I liked so much about it, other than the fact that it had a really cool shaped bottle.
Danielle says
OMG such a good topic. “Cool Water” for women was my first “fancy” perfume– it was a big deal.
Kristen says
loves baby soft omg! loved it! my fav from that time period was Exclamation! which you can still buy from the drug stores but somehow doesnt have the same appeal!! I also liked gap grass. so organic!
Ellie@Fit for the Soul says
haha yep, young people tend to wear way too much scent! xP I used to wear a lot of cool water because my best friend had given that to me as a gift.
Karen R says
Loves Baby Soft and Jean Nate. I guess smelling like furniture polish was appealing back then?
Ashlee says
Anyone remember the perfume Exclamation?! It was a little before my time, but my older sister use to wear it religiously!!
Gina C says
I had that one!!! The bottle looked like an exclamation point!!! I doused myself in that one…
Laura @ beanstalk says
Oh high school. I loooved Clinique Happy. Haha..
Sarah says
Ditto!
jennyv says
I also LOVED Clinique Happy which I would consider my first REAL perfume. I wore “Vanilla Fields” before that — I swear you can buy it at KMart now!
Sharan says
Baby Soft & Gap Dream were staples of my elementary school years. In high school I asked for an Estee Lauder perfume for Christmas solely because the bottle looked like a rainbow. Little did I know the scent was way too mature for my age. Ha!
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom says
My first “real” perfume was Britney Spears’ “Curious” in high school. I wore a lot of Bath and Body Works lotion (Cucumber melon), but didn’t really wear perfume until high school. Now I just use cocoa butter and people like smelling me because I smell like chocolate all of the time 😉
Trace says
oh my gosh i wore gap heaven all through high school and college. i might still have bottles at my parents house. it was my signature scent (ha!) so i stocked up!
Sarah Z says
Ghost Mist and Baby Soft were my first perfumes and then Adidas for her was what I wore in high school. Oh the memories!
Samantha Eidson says
My four year old daughter wears that!!
Claire says
Love’s baby soft was mine too! My mom used to get it for me when she would get her perfume so I felt “grown up”! I also was a Gap Dream girl, how funny!
Kim @ Living, Laughing & Losing says
OMG..I used to wear that Love’s Baby Soft! I also wore Electric Youth! Too funny 🙂
Sarah says
Yes, Electric Youth:).
grace says
its not really a perfume but it would be VS Love Spell!! hahah
Mary says
I thought you would be too young for Love’s Baby Soft…that was my first perfume too! I also loved Bath&Body Works sun ripened raspberry…ah, brings back memories….
Patti says
Curve for Women in Middle School, and J.Lo “Glow” in High School… Whenever I smell either one, it brings me back to my younger-years!
dee says
What is Love’s Baby Soft?! I’m imagining it smelling like baby powder for some reason! But I was totally a Gap Dream and Ralph Lauren Cool (the pink bottle?) girl..aside from the Bath & Body Works body splashes! Oh, the smell of sun-ripened raspberry and country apple (all time fave!) just brings me back to my childhood 🙂
Brittany says
My cousin introduced me to my first perfume: “Lucky One”.
http://www.amazon.com/LUCKY-YOU-Women-By-3-4/dp/B000LRFYA8/ref=sr_1_2?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1365624701&sr=1-2
I felt so cool using it! I still have a bottle, believe it or not, but I don’t use it as much as my preference of smell has changed.
Mary Beth says
Yes! Love’s Babysoft and BBW Country Apple. I recently came across an old bottle at Mom’s lost in a cabinet.
Sarah says
My sister used to wear Om religiously- I can still remember it so well. I liked the dream, but I think my first bottle was Clinique Happy. I felt so grown up buying it!
Hillary | Nutrition Nut on the Run says
What perfume(s) do you wear now?
Katherine says
Yes! I had Baby Soft and Exclamation. I haven’t smelled either in years but I think I would recognize them right away. I know that they still sell them both at drugstores! In high school I used Gap Dream. I got it as a gift at one of my birthday parties and I treated it like liquid gold.
Ashli - The Sweat Revolution says
Haha this brings back so many memories! I was all about Impulse Body sprays – I still remember almost running to the drugstore to spend my weekly allowance on as many different fragrances as my $5 would allow, and proudly displaying them on my vanity table. Thanks for the flashback 🙂
Amy H. @ Run with Perseverance says
Clinic Happy was my first perfume (if you don’t count the Bath and Body Works Cucumber Melon spray!)
Brooke says
In junior high, it was Malibu Musk. Came in an aerosol can from Walgreens (kind of like the Designer Impostor body sprays, remember those?). Ugh, it was awful!!!
Melissa says
I don’t remember if I actually had Baby Soft or not, but I think they made a Vanilla one too. That one I definitely had!
Allie says
Loves Baby Soft! I used to LOVE that stuff!
Karen says
OMG! I used to wear Love’s Baby Soft religiously! Until one day I realized I was getting a bit old for it when someone screamed out “Who is wearing baby powder?!”… I of course was like, “oh yes, who is the baby powder wearer, like ew…” lol! I mean hey, school is rough when you’re young! 🙂
janet says
Love’s Soft Musk was my fave in highschool … And Chantilly. Still love Chantilly as it reminds me of my mom.
I now rotate among a few faves: DKNY Be Delicious (Green), Lise Watier Desirable (it smells like you snorted raspberries and champagne), Angel (nights only as it’s pretty heady) and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Twilight Musk which smells like … Ta da … Love’s Soft Musk! (Altho SJP is hard to find in London!)
Meredith F. says
Gap Dream and BBW Juniper Breeze were a hit in high school. Cool Waters was of course another staple…but Roxy’s Hula was my FAVE! I’m actually saddened they don’t make it anymore. It was such a great summer beachy scent.
Beth Sheridan says
I had Electric Youth! Go Debbie Gibson!!
Carly says
Omigod! I totally had baby soft as well…along with a few other of their fragrances…it came in some kit or something if I remember correctly!!! I was also a GAP perfume girl too. Dream and OM were my choices…this post was too hilarious!!! I can not believe I forgot all about the Loves perfumes!! “) I also wore Exclamation or something like that too …haha oh good memories.
Kelly says
Ha! Curve was huge when I was in high school too! My first perfume was Clinique Happy, which looking back was actually a legit perfume (a gift from my mom when I turned 13!) but I always WANTED to wear GAP dream! I love moments of olfactory nostalgia! So fun 🙂
Nicole says
Gap DREAM was a hit when I was a freshman in college (I’m a few years older than you)….that and Curve for Women. My first perfume was “Navy”, which I wore only to church every Sunday for a long time.
I remember my first boyfriend wore Drakkar Noir exclusively. I get sick to my stomach when I smell it now. ….Hmmm….wonder why we’re not together! haha! 🙂
Traci says
I’m pretty sure I was an offender of Hollister perfume. I also loved that Pink Sugar perfume that smelled like cotton candy in a bottle (anyone remember that?). Also, Ralph Lauren Cool- it smelled like sugar, watermelon and summer. Can’t forget Bath and Body works sprays too; I think cucumber melon was everyone’s favorite! I actually just bought some soap in that scent recently and it took me back to middle school.
Julia Badescu says
My first perfume was Gucci Envy. My mom didn’t like it and so she gave it to me. It was far too mature for an 11 year old but I loved it. When I was 16, I moved on to Estee Lauder’s Beyond Paradise and I still like it. Very soft floral scent with a little caramel or something in there. Brings back some sweet 16 memories… ahhhh.
Carly says
lol! I used to love Gap Dream too!! So funny! I forgot about those 🙂
Sue says
I love Love’s Baby Soft! It was one of my first perfumes along with Heaven Scent. We got a sample of that in a goodie bag when we attended “Charm School” at one of the local department stores.
katie says
CK 1 omg i remember thinking i was super cool when i got it for christmas when i was like 10 lol
Amy says
Mine was Liz Claiborne! I feel like an antique. Hahah!
Shannon Georges says
I loved Gap’s Grass perfume so much, I bought the lotion. Broke out in giant, itchy hives all over my body. After reading the ingredients, I realized it actually had grass (essence, oil?) in it. I am allergic to grass. My mom laughed her butt off as I sat there scratching myself all day. Too bad, because it smelled so good!
