Good morning! I hope you guys are enjoying a fabulous weekend!
Between the SHINE Women’s Conference on Thursday and Friday and my AFAA Group Exercise Certification course yesterday, I feel like I haven’t had much computer time with you guys! Friday was the final day of SHINE and we all agreed that it was fabulous. On Thursday night they opened with “Oh Happy Day!” and I basically freaked out. That song is so fabulous.
SHINE was the first Christian women’s conference I’ve ever attended and I have only good things to say about it. I am still very much growing in my personal journey and am glad I was able to attend the conference with my mom and sister and my sister’s boyfriend’s mom and sister. We had such a warm group and I loved listening to the various speakers with such kind, loving women.
Yesterday I spent the day at an AFAA Group Exercise Certification workshop and will know the results from the practical and written exams within four to six weeks. I think it went really well and I’ll be sure to share more about the experience on the blog soon.
And now I have something to share with you guys that I think many of you will enjoy, especially those of you who are on the go a lot, don’t have a gym membership or prefer to work out at home.
FitnessGlo
In between the conference sessions on Friday, we had a two-hour break and since were all feeling a little antsy from sitting for most of the day, we decided to do an at-home workout. I plugged my computer into the television and my sister and I spent some time on the FitnessGlo website selecting a workout we thought we all might enjoy from the various videos available on the site.
I first learned about FitnessGlo through a partnership with FitFluential and was immediately impressed with the workout videos on the site. There are tons! (Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are 100 percent my own. I loved this site!)
FitnessGlo is a website created for women by women with busy women in mind. The website features workout videos with varying intensities from level one (On My Way) to level three (Good to Glo). Their videos last anywhere from five to 45 minutes, so they’re perfect for on-the-go women who might only have a small amount of time to squeeze in a quick workout before work.
We decided to try Ilyse Baker’s barre workout because I already knew I liked her teaching style since I’ve taken a dance class with her before at the Reebok headquarters last year.
Her energy is contagious without being annoying. She’s motivating but lets you know she’s feeling the burn, too!
The workout lasted 30 minutes and we were engaged the entire time.
We started sweating and definitely felt the burn! My sister and I liked it so much that we decided to try another 30-minute video immediately after the barre workout. We selected Amy Dixon’s Cardio Athletic workout which included lots of intervals. It was right up my alley!
I loved the format of the workout and the way Amy took us through several exercises for 30, 60 and 90 second bursts of intense cardio. My sister and I were super sweaty by the end of this workout! Amy was awesome… and kind of looks like Laura Prepon from That ‘70s Show to me a little bit! I’m also hoping to pitch a similar class to my boss at the gym because I think it could be a hit in a group exercise format.
The site makes it easy to sort through videos by duration, workout type, instructor and level.
If you need a little push to start your routine, FitnessGlo offers an 8-week customized jump-start program and ways to track your workouts and make sure your routine includes a balance of strength, cardio and stretching.
Access to the FitessGlo website costs $12 a month, but anyone can receive a free 15-day trial. And one of you will win a free 90-day membership!
To enter this giveaway for a free 90-day FitnessGlo membership, simply comment on this post telling me why you are looking for a great at-home workout option or what type of workout video you’d be most excited to try. Barre? Core strength? Cardio dance? Let me know!
I will randomly select one winner on Monday.
Good luck!
This sounds awesome – definitely checking it out since I freeze my gym membership during marathon training. Fitnessglo would be a great supplement to my running schedule without breaking the bank!
I’d definitely be interested in trying some of the cardio options- need some cardio back in my life! Cardio Dance sounds super fun 🙂
I love the idea of being able to workout at home with a video. The cardio dance sounds like fun. Loved the picture of you all lined up in front of the TV!
I’m really tired of my gym right now, so this would be great for me while I look for a new one!
I love working out in a class environment or having an instructor to guide me through work-out so I would love to try it out!
I have been dying to try Barre and most gyms around me don’t offer it, so I would be most excited to try that!
There are 0 Barre classes locally (in RI). I’d love to try FitGlo for the Barre workouts. :). Let’s bring back the amazing times I had as a girl in the dance studio!
I just had a baby 2 weeks ago so I am looking for at-home workout options once I’m cleared to workout again. I love your cardio+strength workouts Julie so I think that would be what I would try first.
Was just talking to a friend about trying a Barre workout!!
I’m a busy graduate student who is in physical therapy school with lots of loans so I’m always on the lookout for great new ways to work out that don’t cost a lot of money. Treating people will be my future so I need to make sure I stay in shape to do my job. Also, exercise has been a great stress reliever through my many years of schooling.
I am definitely looking to do some more barre type workouts!
I recently moved and no longer have access to my beloved gym so this would be a fantastic option for me. I would definitely want to try the core workout, it is my weak spot!
I’ll be in DC for an unpaid internship this summer, and would love to have this as an alternative to paying for a gym. I would definitely check out the barre workouts, since they’re something I’ve been dying to try but don’t have access to at school or at home!
I do not currently have a gym membership and would love to have access to a fitness routine at home! I always love running outside but being able to do any kind of strength/core training in my living room would be great!
I’ve heard great things about barre workouts, so I would love to try that first!
This sounds awesome! I’d especially love to try the core strengthening videos. I work long hours and try to maximize my time spent at home my running/walking with my dog before and after work, but that’s not just cutting it for workouts! The P90x DVDs I have aren’t as versatile as this. Plus, it would give me the confidence to try some of these exercises in the privacy of my home if I decide I want to take a barre or Zumba class somewhere after!
Barre!! I’m a veteran dancer and have been dying to try barre, but haven’t been able to find a gym near by that offers it!
I’d love more at-home core workouts! That’s something I’m definitely trying to work on because I want to be a stronger runner!
I NEED somre more fun cardio dance workouts!
I would love this program to try and lose some baby weight. I am due any day with my second baby and going to the gym on a daily basis will be hard…especially when I go back to work. 🙂
I’d be excited to try the barre one! I love my Jillian DVDs, but this looks refreshing and different.
I’m in a workout rut!! And I am dying to get out of it!
I would love to be able to do a barre workout at home and bring out my inner ballerina! 🙂 It’s already getting too hot here in Arizona to workout outside so this would be so perfect!
i am traveling a lot.this could be so helpful.
It’s always ice to have an at home workout option when you just don’t feel like going to the gym.
I’m not a big fan of going to the gym. I love working out in the comfort of my own home. A new cardio dance video would be fun, what girl doesn’t love to dance ;).
Hi! I’m a college cross country runner and student who would love to try the core workouts! I’m recovering from an IT band injury and building core strength will be important in preventing it from happening again. Plus as a college student always on the go I’d love the convenience of at home core workouts to supplement my running and help me become a stronger runner!
Barre! My cousin tried it and loved it!
I would love to be able to workout at home because for some reason the idea of driving to the gym while on summer vacation doesn’t sound appealing to me..at home workouts are just so much more appealing. I would love to try the core videos because I always fail to do core workouts and I would have no excuses not to do one!
looks awesome! I am obsessed with barre and would love to try it online!
What a neat site! I am looking for more ways to work out at home since my new job is so physically demanding, it’s been difficult to motivate myself to drive to the gym after work. I would love to try barre — I have heard so many wonderful things about it but don’t have any barre classes available in my area!
Never heard of this, but seems great! I would love to try and interval/core workouts!
My mom would ADORE this site! She loves classes and is working very hard to strengthen her core to alleviate stress to her lower back.. She is a nurse with crazy hours so this would be very accessible to her. I would love to do them together with her this summer, since I will be working at night and taking two graduate courses. Thanks for sharing the site!
Jeanie
Flexible and practical means that there is no excuse not to work out!
I’m 29 weeks along with my first and getting out to exercise in the heat is getting harder each day. I would love to win this!
This website is made for me!!! My life is starting to get hectic with preparing for the arrival of our first child in July. I know dealing with a newborn, it will be hard to get workouts in on a schedule so this site would be perfect for when I have 5-20 mins to myself!
I need new at home workouts after finishing triathlon training.
I would love this because my school gym has many fewer classes during the summer, so I am looking for something new!
I would love the variety of levels and classes. Just finished training and running for a marathon recently so need to change up my workout.
I’d be most excited to try the cardio dance!
I have been using the P90X routine for a while now, but would love to use FitnessGlo to supplement and add a little spice to my routine. FitnessGlo sounds like it would do just that!
i can’t even begin to tell you how much i would love this! i recently left my job to go back to school to become a vet tech and as we all know student loans are killer! not having a job and not being able to afford a gym membership, i do all my workouts at home. It hard sometimes to keep the variety and keep the work outs interesting. this would be amazing to try and to have a bigger selection of work outs to choose from. i love interval training so much too!!
i’m always up for cardio dance! but the cardio athletic sounds good too. i’m a fan of intense intervals.
I would love to try barre workouts. Not sure I could do them so great, but would love to try at home.
I would love to the cardio dance and the barre workouts!
I’ve been wanting to try a Barre class for a while now- this looks great!
I would love to try this! Summer is around the corner and I have trouble getting my running in with the kids all home. My daughter and I could do this together at home. That would be so cool!
I’m curious about the barre workouts! I’d love to try this site since there is a gym on site at work which leads me to not want to travel to “work” on the weekends. I’d love to explore FitnessGlo on the weekends!
I love working out in the comfort of my own home, and the variety that FitnessGlo offers would be perfect for keeping me from getting bored!
I would love to try all the different workouts!
