It’s Friday which gives me an excuse for feeling all amped up and ready to play!
Do you ever have those days where you just know your productivity level will be at an all-time low? Your mind is going a mile a minute and zoning in on work is a little more difficult than usual?
One of the great things about working from home is that I can publicly announce the days when I have a feeling that an inordinate amount of time will be spent on Pinterest or just generally avoiding things I actually should be doing. (I had some serious writer’s block going on when I tried to wrap up a freelance article this morning. Hoping that goes away soon!)

On days like this, I have a little trick. I make myself work uninterrupted for an hour and then give myself a 10-minute break to check my personal email or explore the internet in search of fantastic things like this…
Or this…
Please tell me you’ve played the lava game. Just a tip: Pillows may also be used to get from place to place. They also keep you safe from the lava.
Gosh, I’m guessing that by the beginning of this blog post, you can clearly see that I am definitely in Friday mode!
Workout
Today’s workout was “Workout C” from the Best Body Boot Camp program I’m following. It focused on upper body strength exercises with five minutes of cardio peppered in between supersets.
Breakfast
Today’s breakfast was as random as the beginning of this post.
It began with a banana “ice cream” smoothie…
… And concluded with a small bowl of multi-grain peanut butter Cheerios with almond milk.
The company sent me the Cheerios to try (apparently they heard I have a bit of a soft spot for peanut butter?), and all I could think about as I’ve snacked my way through the box this week was how good these would be in marshmallow treats. Sprinkle some peanut butter M&Ms in the mix and ooooh baby.
Question of the Morning
- Is anyone else in Friday mode?
- Anything fun you’ve seen on the internet that I must look at as I avoid real work today?

I am SO in Friday mode, which is convenient because I don’t have class Fridays! Also, I’m so angry at Cheerios for making all these new delicious flavors! Just months after I find out I am gluten intolerant! I seriously am considering just eating them and suffering the consequences. I can’t take it anymore!
peanutbutterfingers says
at least you can still eat chex! i LOVE honey nut chex.
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life says

I giggled out loud at that circle graph. The binge eating is especially relevant when I have writer’s block or want to avoid grading papers. Great coping skill, right there!

i alllllways find myself in the kitchen when i’m avoiding work. always!

You could always waste some time playing Flabby Physics – http://www.flabbyphysics.com
This is one of the websites I give to my students if they finish work early, and it’s surprisingly addicting!
Have a great weekend! 🙂

With the weather being SO nice where I’m at, it does make it really hard to focus, especially on a Friday. I’m really good at avoiding getting things done and getting side-tracked!
Annie says
definitely in friday mode. exhausted from seeing Joan Rivers in Lakeland last night, so i’d much rather be catching up on sleep than sitting at my desk doing nothing important because half my office is out anyway!!!

Heather @ Run Eat Play says
My kids play the lava game at the grocery store – they jump only on the colored tiles. They usually run into someone. Lots of fun!
If I worked from home, I’d probably work for 10 minutes and then check the internet and email for hour 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
aw, that’s adorable!! you should take a video of that!
Presley @ Run Pretty says
I have a half day at work today, and my students are testing. Today is the epitome of slacking for me. I should be planning for next week, but I just can’t. Literally can’t. I’m ready to leave! 🙂
And now I want a smoothie.
