After reading your comments on last night’s post, one thing is for certain.
Apparently I must try Frito pie.
(Source)
Prior to last night, I had never even heard of Frito pie, but quite a few of you say it’s a “must try.” Is it a very common dish? I feel so left out!
After doing some investigating into the ingredients of the dish, I can see why you guys are singing its praises. I’m not about to turn down anything with lots of cheese, corn chips and chili and promise you that I will be on the lookout for Frito pie and will try it the next chance I get.
Workout
Moving right along from Frito pie talk to workouts, because that’s a natural flow…
Today’s workout was another awesome circuit workout from the Best Body Boot Camp workout list. It was challenging mainly because the rest time between each exercise was only 10 seconds.
I ended up altering the rest time and increased it by five seconds because I felt incredibly rushed trying to grab weights or an exercise ball in less than 10 seconds. The extra five seconds still had me moving fast from one exercise to the next but took away that frantic feeling.
Breakfast
I wanted cheese for breakfast. But I also wanted waffles. And fruit.
Why not have it all?
I toasted two whole wheat waffles and topped one with melted (leathery-looking) Colby jack cheese and the other with a combination of ricotta cheese and cottage cheese and freshly sliced strawberries.
Random, but it worked and satisfied my crazy cravings.
Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me
After breakfast, I leashed up Sadie for our morning walk and listened to the latest Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me podcast.
I am seriously obsessed with this podcast. If you have a long commute or get bored on long walks with your dog, I highly recommend checking it out. I’ve briefly talked about it on the blog before, but it cracks me up while also holding my interest as the panelists answer quiz questions about current events. I have now made it my mission to make it to a live taping in Chicago one day!
Question of the Morning
- If you could attend the live taping of one television or radio show, what show would you choose?
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
I really, really want to see Ellen one day – I think it would be such a fun show to see live. And I’d love to go to Live! with Kelly, too. Wait Wait always cracks me up – I really laugh out loud to myself when I’m listening, usually while doing the dishes or another chore. I might look like a nut if I were walking and listening, smiling and laughing to myself 🙂
peanutbutterfingers says
i would LOVE to see ellen, too! she is so funny and positive. love her!
Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed says
I really want to bust a move with Ellen hehe!
amy says
so, just heard of walking tacos!! a bag of fritos or doritos, your choosing, crunch up in bag, then fill will taco meat, cheese, salsa, whatever…. shake and eat with a fork!! not the healthiest, but definitely a fun way to chow down with friends.
ELIZA says
Is she going to be doing another bootcamp?? I totally should have joined on!
Or maybe you should do one 😉
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I would love to attend a taping of Bethenny Frankel’s new talk show or the Ellen show! I think it would be so much fun! 🙂 I went to a live taping of Anderson not too long again and it was such a great experience.
Shannon says
Those waffles look awesome! I’d choose to see The Daily Show I think. Love Jon Stewart
Khushboo Thadani says
Rest time is my main issue with working out wtih barbells: loading/deloading takes way longer than 10 seconds!
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots says
we love Wait, Wait, Don’t tell me at my house. You should keep a look out because they do live tapings in other cities, last year my family went to one in Hartford CT Jerry Springer was on it and he was so hilarious! I just started listening to the Jillian Michaels podcast and I really liked it which surprised me because she sort of bothers me at times.
Faith @ For the Health of It says
I’d love to go to a filming of a game show. Such a nerd, but they’re so fun to play along with!
Tara @ Chip Chip Hooray says
Rachael Ray! Either that or maybe something like The Chew. I love food shows, and even though Rachael’s personality is sometimes a little bigger than I can handle, I imagine it’d be really fun to have her snacks in between segments. 🙂
Also…I’ve totally never tried Frito Pie, and I hadn’t even *heard* of it until a few months ago. Maybe I need to do some research too…
Emily N says
Definitely Ellen. Love her. My mom works for JCPenney, and now that Ellen is their spokesperson, it fuels my love for her even MORE!
Sarah says
Wait Wait travels all around taping the show, you should look into if they will be in your area anytime soon.
peanutbutterfingers says
i’ve checked! unfortunately i don’t see any near me in the future, but my fingers are crossed!
Lauren says
Wait Wait is one of the highlights of my weekend! I remember listening to it all the time as a kid while driving to church on Sunday mornings with my dad. Ever since, I’ve been obsessed! I always listen to the podcast while doing my long runs on the weekends. It makes the miles go by faster.

Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Ooh I’ll check out that podcast! I’ve also been meaning to start listening to This American Life because I’ve heard so many good things about it. For talk shows, I’d say Oprah (and this dream is actually coming to fruition soon!!), then Ellen.
peanutbutterfingers says
i really like this american life a lot! definitely check it out!
Jennifer says
I would like to see a live taping of The Chew (you get to eat all that yummy food!). Ellen would be good too. I love fritos, chili, and cheese but for some reason frito pie has never gone over for me. Something about soggy frito’s yuck!
Sana says
I have never had a Frito pie either. Do we just live under a rock?
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Even worse / better than Frito pie – my dad makes potato chip cookies – and they’re coated in powdered sugar. 🙂
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
For me it would definitely have to be Saturday Night Live. It’s such an epic show with a long history – it would be awesome to see it live.
Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud! says
the only time ive heard/seen frito pie is a lady my parents is friends with always makes it for any gatherings so I have had it a few times with her, other than that i never heard/seen anything about it anywhere else! it is weirdly good though 🙂

Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud! says

Sarah S. says
I LOVE Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me! My favorite episodes are when Paula Poundstone and Mo Rocca are on the panel. Did you know Peter Segal has a regular column in Runner’s World too? He just as funny writing as talking!
Leah @ Chocolate and Wild Air says
For sure I’d want to see Saturday Night Live – just think of how fun it would be!! Especially if there was a good host and musical guest, and a few surprise guest stars. I would have given anything to be there when Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Jimmy Fallon showed up to do their Weekend Update with Seth Myers!
Marilyn says
I was just telling my husband the other day that I feel like people must be looking at me with concern when I listen to Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me on the train or while walking. I tend to burst out laughing randomly. 🙂
Elizabeth @ Chocolate Drops and Pearls says
Definitely the Ellen Show! I just love her and think she is hilarious! Hopefully it would be a day that Sofia Grace is on 🙂
Suzanne says
Have you listened to Car Talk on NPR? It’s seriously funny and you don’t have to be interested in cars to enjoy it at all!
peanutbutterfingers says
i haven’t but i always see it on the list of popular podcasts. i have to try it out!
SaraRM says
The whole frito chili pie thing blows my mind! I never thought of it as a regional type food but maybe that has something to do with it…. ?! Growing up It was one of the most popular sporting event consession types of foods. Very interesting ha!
Theresa says
haha…frito pie! i tried one from sonic once and it was ok, i think making it on my own would be better. i HAVE been tempted to try that dorito taco from taco bell, hahaha.
um, my answer is obvious. i’d need to attend a live taping of maury, and only when its the paternity test episode! 😉
Rachel @ The Peach and The Pit says
I had Frito Pie in October when I was in Santa Fe. It’s definitely delicious…but not something I’d eat often! It is fun though 🙂
Lindsey says
Live with Kelly! She was recently taped a show close to me (Banff AB Canada) but sadly I did not get tickets from the draw. I guess a NYC trip is in order 😉

SNL…maybe Friends if it was still on. 🙂

On the lookout for Frito pie? Why don’t you just make it yourself?

That’s what I was thinking. Isn’t that something you just make?
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Probably Ellen! I Love her!!!
Katie says
Too funny! I was thinking that when I read your previous post, that you probably forgot to highlight ‘Frito Pie’. For me, frito pie was a childhood dish, like mac & cheese. It’s also easy & convenient camping food!

I discovered Frito pie several years ago, and it is one of my favorites! It’s something that is served a lot at High School basketball, football games.
If it was still filming, I would like to attend the FRIENDS taping, b/c it’s one of my favorite shows. Otherwise, probably one of the morning shows- Good Morning America or NBC Today.
marci says
This may be a silly question, but how do i listen to these podcasts? Do i have to download it off itunes? As you can tell i haven’t done podcasts before!!
peanutbutterfingers says
i download it off itunes (many podcasts are FREE) and then upload it onto my ipod! you can also listen to the wait, wait… don’t tell me podcast directly on their website.

are our plates the FIESTA plates? Thinking of putting them on my registry, but not sure of what colors i want!
Lindsay says
Frito Pie is extremely common! Then again I live in Texas where chili and fritos are everywhere! You won’t find it at a restaurant, you’ll need to make it yourself. I remember Frito Pie being the best day of school lunch when I was in high school!
Brandi says
I must try cheese on my waffle!! Breakfast looks yummy!
Tabata workouts are a killer! I recently picked one up by Amy Dixon that is amazing. It’s a full hour of tabata move and totally leaves me drenched 🙂
Have a great day!

I’d love to attend Top Gear, those guys are so funny and Tanner Foust can drive! Just found your blog this weekend and have already tried a treadmill workout and feel so inspired to workout harder and smarter, hooray for variety! Thank YOU.
I’m also quite intrigued by the cheesy jam n egg waffewiches….
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
I’ve never had Frito Pie, but it looks delicious. Completely unhealthy, but delicious. 😉
Molly says
There’s also a single-serving version of a Frito Pie called a Walking Taco…just a bag of Fritos, topped with chili and toppings eaten out of the bag with a fork. I’ve never had one, but they are pretty popular at sporting events, fairs, etc. in the Midwest. Healthy! 😉
