Fun Size, Schmun Size

October 21, 2010 by Julie 72 Comments

Whoever decided to call the small, bite-size versions of our favorite candy bars “Fun Size” clearly doesn’t know much about a good time.

To me, a real Fun Size candy bar would look a little more like this:

Now That's FUN!

(Source)

That’s what I call a good time!

With Halloween right around the corner, Fun Size treats are popping up all over the office. The treat that surfaced today was a Tootsie Roll pop.

Sign me up!

Let Me See That Tootsie Roll!

I love Tootsie Roll pops. They always remind me of that little owl from the commercials.

"Ah One, Ah Two, Ah Three. Three!"

(Source)

“How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop? Ah one, ah two, a three. <Crunch!> Three!”

Love it.

Not one to forgo candy that’s staring me in the face, I am currently on my third Tootsie Roll pop of the day.

Nom.

They complement morning snacks, lunch and afternoon snacks quite well. 😉

After my Tootsie Roll pop appetizer, I broke into my lettuceless salad that included a mix of the following:

  • Roasted Brussels sprouts
  • Red pepper
  • Edamame
  • Sweet corn
  • Feta cheese
  • Fresh Portobello mushrooms
  • Italian dressing

Git Yer Veggies!

So Colorful

Alongside the salad, I also enjoyed a baggie of pistachios.

Nutty

I’ve been loving these nuts ever since I had them during the POM Harvest Tour. I forgot how delicious these little green guys taste!

I loved alternating a pistachio with a lick of my Tootsie Roll pop. I’m a sucker for the sweet and salty combo!

Question of the Afternoon

What was your favorite candy to receive when trick-or-treating on Halloween?

In order of preference, my favorite Halloween treats included:

  • Almond Joy
  • Kit Kat
  • 100 Grand (Seriously underappreciated!)

(When I was a youngin’ Reese’s Pieces hadn’t made it to the market yet otherwise they would definitely be on my list.)

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Butterfingers were my favorite! I would hoard them all from my brother’s trick-or-treat “bag” (er, fake pumpkin with a handle?) and hide them for months and months. That is, after I ate my body weight in them on Halloween. I also loved Smarties.

Kit kat bars and Reese’s peanut butter cups were my favorites. Now I don’t really like Reese’s peanut butter cups much, but still like a kit kat from time to time.

Least favorite: Those chewy things with dried out peanut butter in the middle. Yuck.

Almond Joys were my fave also! And still are to this day! A close second would be Reese cups followed by Hershey’s chocolate. I loved that my brother didn’t want any of his Almond Joys so I usually had to trade him quickly before my dad got ahold of them – they are his fave also! 🙂

I love that Tootsie Pop owl. I used to have a t-shirt with him on it that read “How many licks does it take?”

Unfortunately, I don’t think everyone had seen the commercials and I got some very “interesting” comments. Awkward!

    *cough*

That being said, favorite trick or treat candies:

    1) Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup
    2) Krackel bars or Crunch bars
    3) Kit Kats

    I disliked anything with coconut.

Hi Julie. Meant to write this yesterday, by far, one of the most memorable things from my Wedding was mine and Benjie’s time alone. We attended the cocktail hour but ducked out early to look at the reception tent. I wanted to see ALL of the details come together before all the guests came in. After we looked, we went, grabbed a drink and sat and watched (from a-far) everyone get their place card and get seated. It felt like HOURS of just us sitting there compared to the rest of the night, but it was probably a total of 15 minutes. Totally worth it 🙂

I totally agree that 100 Grand are way underappreciated. My other favorite (and I’m sure makes me show my age because they stopped making them a long time ago) was the full size Marathon bar my mother would give me. It was just a thin bar of chocolate filled with chewy caramel. Strawberry Charleston Chews were also good if you froze them before eating them.

Reese’s and Twix! My sister and I used to trade, because she had different, gross favorites. I always counted mine and rationed them out so that they lasted way too long. I usually wouldn’t even finish them.

Can’t wait to have kids and take my favorite candies from their stash.

Last year I was visiting my parents on Halloween and I was so upset with my mom for not having any Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to handout. (Not for the trick-or-treaters’s sake but my own.) I asked around and found out which house was giving out those babies and went up and asked for one. Luckily those neighbors had known me since I was a baby and they humored me. Needless to say those are my fav.
